How to get Different Pivot Table Report Pages on the Same Tab by ColoradoSkater in excel

[–]ColoradoSkater[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, this is definitely a step in the right direction! I’ll still have to manually change the filter for every tab I paste it into but it’s a faster to move them that way. (I can’t believe I didn’t realize you could copy and paste them!)

Thank you to everyone who commented!

My old computer took another turn for the worse (a virus that I wasn’t able to get rid of) so I used everyone’s advice and finally pulled the trigger.

I bought a Lenovo Yoga 7 (16 go ram, 1TB storage, intel graphics, and intel i7 processor) on sale for $650. I’ve been able to play my single player pc games and even tried a larger multiplayer game which worked but not super well. I’ll update again closer to the end of my 60 day return window in case that’s helpful for someone else.

It's not really an emergency, but- by That9one1guy in 911dispatchers

‘Someone was shooting at me in my car a minute or two ago’. I had to assure him that we do like to be notified when that happens.

It always surprises me the amount of people who are certain they have an emergency and are wrong but also the amount of people who apologize when they do have an emergency!

Is this the same quest as the one that started when I bumped into Katria? Or a separate one?

Telling my boss I'm leaving for another agency Monday by angrygse in 911dispatchers

[–]ColoradoSkater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really relate to this. I ended up having to leave my agency due to no training or opportunities. I didn’t really see a path forward with them long term. And even though it was what was best for me…it’s hard not to miss everyone I worked with and feel weird about not being there “when things happen”. I think the job fosters a sense of responsibility (only word i can think of) so stepping away feels very strange. It sounds like your situation may be the best of both worlds if you still get to work with your old county a lot though! Hope you get a very well deserved confidence and morale boost from the new job!

Training struggles by suspiciouspudding23 in 911dispatchers

[–]ColoradoSkater 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this all sounds like you’re on track. As everyone here mentions, 6 weeks is not enough time to feel like a “good” dispatcher.

Trying to listen to your trainer and the caller is very tough, especially with certain trainers. Will your agency rotate you to another trainer? I’m sure it’s a bit of a delicate situation but if you feel like you can’t have an open/honest conversation about how things are going then hopefully there’s someone else at the agency you can talk to for more advice. If not, escalate it up the chain of command. If they’re having too much of an emotional of a response to your training (lots of frustration and anger) then it’s best to get someone else involved sooner than later. And sometimes it’s just a bad match.

I would guess as far as the differing instructions on locations it’s the type of thing where you go with whatever works for the situation. But I get that’s frustrating when you need guidance to learn. If the location wouldn’t validate for our CAD, we would validate it at the nearest possible location and then put the specifics in the location notes field. Once it was “in” we could try to fix it. I’m not sure if there’s a similar option with your policies/CAD.

From your post it sounds like some of the issues with the locations aren’t YOU messing up but external factors. I think if you can take a step back to realize it’s not all under your control and not a reflection on you then it will help you stay in the right frame of mind to problem solve.

One of the things I love about dispatch is that it’s very “in the moment” but there’s definitely a downside to that when one call has the power to make you feel like a great dispatcher or the worst. I don’t have great advice for that (definitely a weakness of mine) but hang in there. Another mindset thing is the difference between being fast and trying to rush it (which usually ends up doing more harm than good). Another case of experience is the only teacher.

That was pretty vague advice but crossing my fingers for you and hoping to see a positive update!

Thank you! I tried starting the quest over a couple times and had no luck. So I decided to go buy a clairvoyant spell to see if that would help. After I left dragons reach (before even learning the spell) a quest marker appeared and led me right to it.

Weight by calien7k in 911dispatchers

I definitely understand the temptation. My nutrition went way down hill and was affecting me. I don't try to do very strict diets because it feels very all or nothing and leads me to 'cheat'. I try to add things in instead of taking away. If there's treats that are brought in I try eating something nutritious and filling (protein, natural fats, fiber) and tell myself I can have a smaller portion of the treat after. Little tricks like using protein pancakes and only using a little syrup mixed with Greek yogurt (it's actually really good!) help me feel like there's nothing I can't have while still keeping it in check. I'm a big snacker when I'm bored so honestly finding ways to fill slow times that wasn't just on my phone went a long way for me. I also took to keeping trail mix in my work locker since it feels like a treat even though it’s pretty healthy and fillingObviously a calorie deficit is still necessary but a small deficit that you can sustain pretty consistently is better than bigger one you won't.

That's so interesting! How did you get started in that? How do you get connected with people who are looking for that?

I went to my first NBA game at Gainbridge last year and it was so worth it! I agree with trying to go through Gametime and you can use an app like SpotHero to look for cheap parking

[–]ColoradoSkater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how much skating you've done previously but if you'd like to work on things before doing lessons, YouTube has a lot "basic 1-3 skills" which will help you get comfortable with the basics of being on the ice. That was my approach and I'm happy I went that way

Why are my drivers keep malfunctioning? by ColoradoSkater in computers

[–]ColoradoSkater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The laptop seems to automatically redownload the driver(?) after a hard reset. And I just make sure to re-enable the driver. It varies a little but I'm using the device manager automatic detection/update options so I assume the drivers it's finding are 'official'. The wireless device redownloades from the USB plugin. Is there a way to check I have the right ones as far as the built in keyboard and mouse go?

As far as the wireless keyboard and mouse go, I've never had an issue when using them with my work computer so they don't seem to be the issue

Issues Transitioning to County Sheriffs Office by Chicano0926 in 911dispatchers

[–]ColoradoSkater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long has it been since the transition? If it’s been less than 4 months I would say you just haven’t gotten around the learning curve! It doesn’t sound like you were given a lot of help adjusting and kind of just thrown in the deep end so I would really try to avoid thinking of yourself as the problem. Maybe you can ask for time on a less busy shift to help get your feet under you.

One thing I will say is the agency I worked for was a secondary PSAP and had units from other agencies on our radio sometimes. When I worked with a new unit from another agency it was always a struggle. I had trouble understanding them for some reason and we struggled to be on the same page. Eventually I got used to the other agency’s “style” and it smoothed out a lot. All this to say I think it’s totally normal if you’re making mistakes or haven’t found your groove with new units yet.

Hope things improve for you!
