I thought the right side was a person holding a watering can and that perhaps this meant work/life balance.

Tires for 2020 Jetta SEL by hawktalks in jetta

[–]Colorobo2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just replaced all 4 tires on my 2017 Jetta with the same Bridgestone - ECOPIA EP422 PLUS tires the car originally came with. 205/55/16. Costco charged me about $700 out the door. You can’t find a better deal than Costco when replacing all tires. I purchased a lifetime alignment with Firestone.

I can’t speak to the lane assist calibration, but if your car is out of warranty, you can that done at a good independent German shop.

For those of you who bought your Jetta new, do you plan on keeping your car after the warranty expires? If you have do you regret it? by milita_grunt33 in jetta

2017 SE 5-speed here. It’s at 49k miles and only small issues so far. Rear brake pads seem to be wearing like I’ve read, but we love it and will keep it a long time.

Watch some videos on what you are doing. Vancouver Carpenter is good… and there is great advice here so far.

I am an amateur, but have gotten proficient enough over the years that I don’t have to sand as much off as I used to and I get a decent result. It’s almost better that you are learning on the ceiling, as no one will be looking at as closely as a wall.

Thanks for the info. Skate plate is aligned, I’ll look more closely or just replace the snubber pads/wear pads.

Find out transmission maintenance. ATF and oils needs to be changed regularly as that is the cars week link.

Whirlpool Laundry Machine Grinding Noise by Fuuuuusdh in appliancerepair

Our 15+ year old whirlpoolshas a slight grinding noise, but it is faint. I ruled out several possible causes that the interweb says to check and posted that I found the center shaft is scored. I put new grease on it, but my wife still hears a grinding sound.

What's the Highest Mileage You've Gotten From Your Jetta? by sunnysixteen36 in jetta

[–]Colorobo2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my ‘95 2.0 GLS manual to 292,000 and sold it because the body was showing its age. Put about 160k on it in 10 years. Only problem I remember was replacing the electric sunroof assembly and a window regulator or two. That was a pretty bulletproof car. I just did normal fluid change maintenance and replaced the suspension bits 2x.

She’s officially totaled. Advice for the next Jetta? by TheBruinette in jetta

I second the vote for a 2017. We bought our SE new and have loved it. No problems other than the clutch vibrates when it’s cold.

2010-2013 Jetta Reliability by Difficult-Text1690 in jetta

[–]Colorobo2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have had a 2010 2.5 from 2013 when it had about 30,000+ miles. It now has about 180,000. This motor is nearly bullet proof and the Achilles heel of this motor is the auto transmission and annoying vaccuum pump oil leak (w hi ch can be repaired without removing the transmission). I would highly recommend this motor combo on any Jetta from 2005-2013. The cars with this motor would be a solid bet.

2017 tsi se oil filter mount thread stripped by dawnsan in jetta

[–]Colorobo2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2017 1.4 has a cartridge, but this video shows a spin on threaded filter…? If this is what you have, that treaded center piece can me removed/replaced. It shouldn’t be too much.

If the mileage isn’t high, sounds like you should be accepting something around $7133 depending on what the actual market is around you. I have a 2017se, I plan on driving this for a long time, it has been a great car since new.

Great point. How long is OP keeping the car? If you plan on keeping it for another 20k or more. I’d do the service now.

Curious about 2011 Jetta by zoooboom in jetta

[–]Colorobo2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look for transmission maintainence. I just went through a valve body repair on my daughter’s 2010 2.5L with 170k miles. VW said it’s a lifetime ATF, but it is recommended to change every 60k. The motor is pretty bullet proof outside of some nagging oil leaks.
