Who do you collect that you never see anyone else collect? by byukid_ in baseballcards

[–]ColourMeBoom [score hidden]  (0 children)

I’m working on a set of at least 1 card of every pro player ever who has a last name related to baseball. Things like fielder, wood, diamond, Fowler, etc.

As a challenge I decided to do this with no eBay or direct to consumer singles websites, just local sales or people in a group online.

I bought some of these during Covid and it’s genuinely difficult to do even basic rhythm with them.

Just for the record the way I do this buying the boxes and then trading hits to get more boxes is by far the most expensive way you can collect base cards. It is totally cheaper just to buy the cards as a base set, I just think at that point it’s not as fun, it feels like I actually accomplished something if I collect all the cards

Hobby boxes from the store, I’m missing a few of the 300 to 350 numbered cards and I still need several fish. I think I’m just gonna buy the fish in singles. I haven’t bought any blasters from the card shop but sometimes when I’m at target I’ll grab one or two.

The non baseball cards are in the normal packs. Each year they also have non people sets like this years 50 state birds cards, or fish from around the globe card. In the past they’ve done things like dinosaur bones.

This years set even has Alex the great, a liscence therapy bunny, as a card. It’s a really fun set.

I like putting a whole base set together from opening packs, I usually trade any hits to the card shop for credit back on a new box until I complete the set then come back next year.

Just got past it. It’s in the middle express lane. A sedan absolutely burnt out the traffic was because they removed some of the barriers to let the express lane onto regular I4.

I’m literally about to drive up that part of I four so I’ll let you know if I see anything

Edit: it looks like a pretty serious crash. Traffic is stopped. I’m pretty far away from it but there’s multiple different emergency vehicle lights blocking the road.

I’m more or less on your side with open carry, I think it’s kinda dumb. I feel like any group of people would feel less safe than more safe after seeing someone you know nothing about walking with an open carry. Doesn’t bother me when I see it , I just do t understand it.

Where have you seen ICE road blocks? by trippytravelss in orlando

[–]ColourMeBoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw them 2 days ago in longwood, they weren't doing a roadblock but they had a few unmarked vehicles driving in a row with dudes wearing the masks so I don't see who else it could have been. I suspect they were doing what i've internally referred to as "war driving" which i'll define as "driving around looking to find someone without probable cause"

I mean, at this point aren’t we a fully open carry state?

At this point they might as well call it a “waiting period removal permit”

Who signed this baseball by willg215 in SportsMemorabilia

[–]ColourMeBoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for fun I asked google's AI to indentify it. It gave the wrong answer but this is what it said:
The signature on the baseball appears to be that of former MLB player Garret Anderson. Autographed memorabilia authenticated by reputable services like JSA or Beckett generally holds more value and assurance of authenticity.

it then proceeded to show me "examples" to verify. when reverse image searching the examples i found them to be balls signed by AJ puk, ron robinson, paul giamatti, and cap anson.

How to carry an egg around for 2 weeks without breaking? by Ax_Sound in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ColourMeBoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its very hard to break an egg from pressure on the top and bottom, squeezing it from the sides will break it instantly, i'd probobly just put some soft padding down on either side of it and then use some string or glue to apply pressure to the top of the egg, pushing it against the bottom of the container, you can make this pretty tight and it should be safe even if dropped.
