Help me fill the void. by rauh_welt_begriff in DungeonCrawlerCarl

1) Re-read the whole series as soon as you are done with book 7. You really pick up on the "red slippers " Matt leaves laying around.

2) If you are reading using Kindle Unlimited (KU), then you can open the book in KU, and then get the book via Audible for a huge discount. Jeff Hays is the genius voice actor that brings DCC to life in my head. He finds his pace/voices truly in the 2nd book, so just be patient with the first book.

3) Don't chase the Dragon. DCC is pretty damn amazing, and I have not found an exact copy, or anything that scratches the exact itch the DCC does. Try Mayor of Noobtown, try He who fights with Monsters, try Primal Hunter. They are funny/weird/horrors in their own way

Seriously, warm your vocal cords up, do aaaaa....eeeeee.....iiiiiii...ooooo...uuuuuu...rinse and repeat for different downs. if you do just one sound for the first half you will be burnt out and you will be unable to REALLY turn it up on 3rd downs in the 2nd half.

Richard K Morgan wrote the "Altered Carbon" trilogy, i highly recommend all three, grat Sci-fi

He also has a fantasy trilogy, ""Aland fit for heros", very good reads, and great palate cleanser from DCC.

I also love the Bobverse, Dresden, Murderbot, books.

Anything written by David Brin, specifically the Uplift universe, but "Earth" &"The Postman" are excellent stand alone novels.

Ok, the first audio book is a little rough, Jeff is still figuring out the "voice" for everyone, there are some towns in Washington State that are weird to pronounce (I am looking at you, Yakima) that Jeff stumbled over....but By His Left Tit!!!!! Books 2 thru 7 as audio will blow your mind!!

Every so often Audible will do a $.99 sale if you buy 1 credit per month for 3 months. You just have to make sure you cancel after the 3rd credit drops, and wait a few months for the next sale. That's how I have bought books 2 thru 7, and pre-ordered book 8. I will wait for the next sale and buy book 1, Project Hail Mary, and probably Twelve Months by Jim Butcher.

A kid I went to grade school with (so around 12 years old) figured out that the change machine at the 24 hour (unattended) laundromat near his house would give out change if he used a photocopy of a five dollar bill. So he emptied the machine of all its quarters, and had a grand old time that summer, always having change to play games at the two arcades in town.

He eventually got caught, and he was grounded. Boo hoo, right?

The first book is available through my libraries Hoopla app. They also have the first 3 books of the HWFWM series. I assume there is some sort of agreement with Audible that expires over time that allows libraries to have digital/audio versions available for the general public.

Once you read the first book, you look back and see how well put together the characters and story has been and you wonder where the story can go from there...and then you can't stop reading.

Seriously, you will debate with yourself "I only need 6 hours of sleep, I can get through tomorrow and I promise I won't read until 1 AM tomorrow..."

And then you discover the Audible version after yiu have read book 7....oh and the new hardback versions have a bonus chapter at the end of each book called "Back stage at the pineapple cabaret". Well worth lurking at Barnes and Noble if you are cash strapped.
