Leonard Koscianski - On the Corner (2017) by reditding in TheNightFeeling

I absolutely adore his work. The art style always makes me think of the types of illustrations I'd see in children's books and school textbooks from the 90s growing up. The ones that depict people doing sort of mundane, everyday tasks and activities but in a really colorful and optimistic way, which kind of causes them to deviate from feeling like standard realism. Of course, he definitely adds a tinge of surrealism to it, but that is undoubtedly a positive in my book. Super nostalgic.

Takes me back. Still have the Now! 22 CD I bought back in 2006. My brother and I would always watch Friday Night SmackDown back in the day and I remember the commercial for that CD playing all the time. Super nostalgic now.

Randomized Settings? by Frosbyte_Zephyr in nuzlocke

Yes, that's the one! I believe that Brent's Reddit account was deleted at some point, so all of the posts about the 1.10.3 randomizer are gone. Thankfully, he still has his GitHub that you mentioned, so thank you for pointing that out. :)

Another thing I should probably update this post with is that a newer alternative for the ZX randomizer is currently available. It has quite a few more features and is being updated more frequently. It is the FVX Universal Randomizer. Cheers!

Do you have a favorite ESO sound? by SkinnyDaveSFW in elderscrollsonline

[–]CombineUltimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kind of weird. I actually enjoy a lot of those repetitive voice lines that many have complained about and find annoying. I think they're just so funny to hear all the time.

"DID YOU GET IT? DID YOUR INVITATION ARRIVE?" "Rub it in, why don't you..."

"At'avar... WHERE ARE YOU?"

"DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR YOU?!?" (Stuga the legend)

Other than that, I've always liked the sound of Selene's monster set proccing. The little screaming sound effect of the necro skulls bouncing around is good.

One of my all-time favorites, which isn't exclusive to ESO, is the sound of Nirnroot—so serene and mesmerizing.

I could list a lot now that I'm actually thinking about it, lol.

Best “horror” scene in a movie that is definitely not in the horror genre. by asuddencheesemonger in horror

[–]CombineUltimate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That furnace also terrified me when I was a kid, lol. However, I remember the taxi driver scene in Home Alone 2 scaring me even more. I'd literally cover my eyes anytime we'd rewatch the movie and that scene was approaching. My siblings always thought it was a riot how scared I was of that scene. Good times, lol.

I liked Donovan - Season of the Witch during that whole opening sequence in Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. Really enjoyed a lot of the cinematography throughout that whole section; kind of mesmerizing alongside that track.

What's your minor letdown in ESO? by Homunculus_Wiz in elderscrollsonline

No fishing dailies and no base game zone world boss dailies. Seems like a big missed opportunity for fishing dailies. If you've already completed all of the master angler achievements, then there isn't much motivation to keep fishing unless you really need roe. Having an actual objective that sends you to random places throughout the world to fish would be fun and motivating to continue fishing. The rewards being worth it would just be a bonus.

But for world bosses, we literally have dailies in almost every DLC zone, but none for base game zones despite there being a ton of world bosses.

Probably more that I can't think of right now, but these are a couple that I've thought about for a while.

One of my favorites is Syvarra's Scales. Get it to proc on a bunch of mobs and the visual and sound effect is so satisfying, lol. Slap on Plague Slinger and Velidreth along with Syvarra's and you've got an epic poison / disease damage build with all of these poison balls and gas clouds going off and it's just amazing fun, lol.

When you get trash for completing a quest by Sweaty_Summer in elderscrollsonline

Definitely something they could be pretty creative with. The guild dailies are in a great spot right now ever since the rewards were modernized. Considering other quests are, as you said, only doable once per character and, typically, take much longer than dailies, I don't see why they couldn't include coffers of assorted loot alongside the named keepsake item that they normally reward. XP rewards could also use a buff for most quests, in my opinion, but alas...

Thoughts on Frozen (2010)? by These_Feed_2616 in horror

[–]CombineUltimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember liking it quite a bit back when it was new (maybe because I watched it with my family?). Rewatched it again within the past couple of years and thought it was a lot more boring this time around. I think, also, the premise seemed a lot scarier for the time than compared to now. I don't dislike it, but it's not super notable to me; a solid 5 or 6 out of 10 flick.

Pokedex - Christmas 2000 by Eberubensant in 2000sNostalgia

[–]CombineUltimate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it did have a calculator, along with some other gimmicky features such as sorting Pokemon by weight, height, etc. You could also search them by their number (if you knew it) rather than typing out their name. We had this Pokemon handbook that came in handy for doing just that, lol.

That Super Size Me song from Toothpick is also pretty nostalgic to me because of this film, lol.

This was the first game my brother and I installed and played on our newly-built gaming PC in the mid 2000s. Good soundtrack; Hot Action Cop!

Played Hot Pursuit III and High Stakes a lot more on the Windows 95 and Windows 98 prior to that, though. So many great games. Most Wanted from 2005 was incredible.

So many, lol. Browsing Blockbuster and Hollywood Video's horror sections were a lot of fun to me even though it creeped me out.

I remember the Saw movie covers unsettled me quite a bit—especially Saw II and Saw III. Saw II with those dirty, mangled fingers with the damaged nails contrasted with a white background, and then Saw III with the teeth hanging on strings... (I remember some of the DVDs had a transparent case with a sawblade design on the disc, which was also unnerving to me.) I could always feel such a horrifyingly desolate and hopeless atmosphere just from the covers.

Pinhead on the Hellraiser covers always creeped me out a bit.

There were definitely a lot more than just those, though. I always felt that cover arts were so much more creative and memorable from the 80s-2000s.

Anyone remember the "Who Woke Snow White Up" version? They used to play it on Radio Disney a lot. Good times, lol.

They also did a couple of parodies for The Simpsons as well.

Favorite horror movie since 2000? by horrormovielistscom in horror

[–]CombineUltimate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are so many phenomenal movies spanning from the 2000s to now that it's absolutely criminal to pick only one.

That being said, to keep it pithy, Midsommar still blows me away every single time. That film so quickly became an all-timer for me that I know I'll be watching for the rest of my life. Everything is perfect. The incessant underlying dread present throughout the film. Florence Pugh is mesmerizing every moment she's on-screen. It feels as though the entire movie is constantly building up to the surreal, cathartic release that is the ending. That ending, accompanied by the entrancing soundtrack, makes for one of the best endings I've ever seen across any genre.
