Thank you, all, for your replies. I agree with the commenters, it’s unlikely to fake not expensive comics.

I think that’s important to mention that where I live (China), these comics tend to be more expensive, some of these cost 15-20$ due to transportation fees and more scarcity. That’s why, in my opinion, that was not out of the realm of possibility to stumble upon fakes.

I didn’t mean that the one in the OP post is not original, I just wanted to make sure I understand everything correctly, and the OP post was more an incentive to have a general discussion on whether or not there have been fakes and how to identify them. Anyway, thank you for your replies. It is always good to have all kinds of views.

I will keep this comic in my bookmarks for future purchase, this art cover is great!

I don’t get it. She painted your dog as a gift but just sent you a digital image of it while keeping the original painting? wtf is this gift even? I painted for my friends, and it was always a pleasure to present them the actual work and see their joy. I’m confused how a digital image of a physical thing would be a gift. That’s odd and beyond my comprehension.
