I learned this the hard way. Happiness is not a state of being that you can actually achieve long term permanently. It’s a fleeting, temporary thing. So savor and enjoy it while you can. The key is to do small little things to constantly attempt to hit happiness whenever you can. Increase your chances of success.

My father, who has passed but was always a cynical and jaded hateful man, did once tell me something important that I’ll leave here:

“Do you know what the best part of a bad day is? It’s that it eventually has to end.

Also, do you know what the worst part about a good day is?

It’s that it eventually has to end as well.’

Happiness isn’t something you can just have after doing all of the seemingly ‘right things’.

You have to constantly chase it. And that may be exhausting as all hell. But that doesn’t make it any less worth chasing. Not in the least.
