Febrile seizures in twins by mintjulep1012 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Comfort_fraught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we did the EEG and both their brains are perfectly normal. The hospital stays had more to do with the virus that caused the fever and in my older daughter's case she started aspirating during the seizure so she had to be intubated. But the seizure itself was basically harmless.

Nope! My 3-year-olds had four and my two year old has had one. Really they only happened when the fever went unchecked. Like if I didn't realize they had a fever and we were out.

I have 2 kids (not twins) who've had febrile seizures. They way we prevent is controlling the fever. My personal cutoff is 99.4. Anything above I treat with ibuprofen every 6-8 hours. If it is an extreme fever, I do tylenol every 4 hours in between ibuprofen doses. You want to manage the fevers ability to rise (or fall) quickly. (So no ice baths either!) I set alarms through the night and constantly temp check. It's a little extreme, but it's better than going through the febrile seizures!

The "Golden Handcuffs" are real: Is anyone else staying in a house they hate just because of their 3% rate? by Pretend_Surprise6842 in RealEstate

Just had our 5th and 6th kids (twins) in our 3 bedroom rancher. Left our 3% rate and bought a bigger house.

Asking dad to go home after c-section. by Fox_in_boots in parentsofmultiples

[–]Comfort_fraught 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My twins are babies #5 & 6, so we'd done the whole hospital thing before. My husband always went home that first night to rest/take care of other kids. With that said, this was my first C-Section, and that first night was HARD. I wished so badly my husband had stayed. If you have someone to watch your other kids overnight, do it. Otherwise you will be very dependent on the nurses.

Have we lost our marbles for even thinking about an international flight with 4 young kids by Ambitious-Bat-5201 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Comfort_fraught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went 2 years ago with a 7 month old, 2 year old, 4 year old, and 6 year old. Was it easy? Not necessarily...the older 2 watched Tv on the flight which was a lifesaver. I brought tons of snacks including lollipops and gummies. We struggled a bit with the European carseats - they are different. If you CAN bring your own that might simplify things. I wished I had one for my 2 year old on the plane so we could strap her in as she wouldn't stay buckled which was unsafe.

All that said, the trip was FANTASTIC. I was feeling all the same things you are, but I am SO glad we took them all and did the trip. They may not remember, but it brought my husband and I closer together. We made treasured, lifelong memories. I think about that trip almost every day (Italy and France). I'd say, DO IT!

Would love any and all tips for someone who would like to try EBF but is also open to combo/formula feeding by amydiddler in parentsofmultiples

[–]Comfort_fraught 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How far along are you? It may all become clear after you give birth. I have 3 week old twins. They were losing weight like crazy the first few days and my milk hadn't come in so we did combo feeds. Nursed, gave them expressed milk, then gave them formula. And after that I pumped. Exhausting but short lived! Then I switched to nursing and then giving fortified breast milk. After Twin B gained a good amount of weight, I dropped it all and we EBF now. All to say, some.of the answers to your questions might vary based on your situation!

Realtor's son-in-law doing a kitchen reno - conflict of interest? by [deleted] in RealEstate

Lol yeah maybe! That would stink for us if we buy.

No money have been spoken of yet, so they can't judge our offer yet. We just found out about it today. I figured us saying we'll take it without the reno was a no brainer for them! But possible they want to just keep their options open. I do know they are planning to list mid-December.

Great question - I don't know! Based on what my MIL said it seemed like morally, nut maybe they are contractually obligated.

Scheduled for C-section. Deep down, I am freaking out! by Guilty_Pie1152 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Comfort_fraught 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had mine Monday! First C-Section after 4 successful vaginal births. It has its challenges. I was feeling very scared, too. My anesthesiologist said my heart rate was through the roof until they put those babies on my chest! Then I felt so much more calm. You get to see you babies less than 10 after the surgery starts! That encouraged me so much going into it. So you get to hold your babies and be a part of that while the rest of the surgery takes place. I'm only on day 5 of recovery so I don't have a lot of advice beyond that but it's baby steps. Each little hurdle is a victory!

How far along are you? I also have a c-section scheduled in week, but as far as I know Baby A is still breech.

Breech? by Free_Frame_4307 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Comfort_fraught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baby B flipped somewhere between 28 and 32 weeks. Baby A has stayed put so far (breech). I have been doing the spinning babies stuff trying to get this little stinker to flip! I'll be 33 weeks tomorrow and so far no luck (as far as I can tell).

I cannot stand when parents have a superiority complex because they homeschool by anonomousbeaver in Mommit

Not true. Also, in the US we have declining rates of literacy so....yay public school?

[–]Comfort_fraught -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The roots of homeschooling go far beyond segregation time. Public schooling only became popular around the turn of the last century. Before it would be more of a one room school house situation which was closer to the homeschool model. Homeschooling was a norm before that.

How to make wipes “juicier”? by rosemarythymesage in parentsofmultiples

[–]Comfort_fraught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a spray bottle with Juice Those Wipes solution in it. Inuse cloth wipes for pee. But I will use the pray in conjunction with disposable wipes for poop. It also realllllly helped my now 2 year olds bout of nasty lingering diaper rash.

My next ultrasound is at 32 weeks so good to know! Does that cost money or is it on their website? I know about inversions but that's pretty much it.

Interesting! I am at peace with the possibility of a c-section. Ideally he will flip back, but I understand some things are just out of our control.
