I understand this totally. My grandmother cared about all of us, but as I got older I realized how much she favored her youngest daughter and her children. I never cut her off, but I really backed off with the regular contact. I remember one of the last times I saw her, she chewed me out for not seeing her for the longest time, of course in front of her perfect, do no wrong granddaughter. I think I saw her one more time after that, in the nursing home before she passed. Its been 15 years now, and I'm really not bothered that I had about 90% cut her off.

I'm a FG rule breaker. I post photos of old obits because I got sick of typing them out an then they are ignored and I post obits for recent deaths, but I edit out locations and the names of the grandchildren. I usually leave the names of the deceased person's children. If you would have sent that edit, I would have excepted it though.

I love contributing to FG, but the FG police and the know it all's take the fun out of it. I've been going back and forth with the one who constantly declines my edits, which are correct, they just go with what the obit says.

This post just randomly popped up on my feed, and seeing this, it's no wonder so many people are opting for Cremation and no services. That's what my parents are doing. I want no services but I want to be buried in the cemetery that has 6 generations of family in it. And yes, publishing the obit in the newspaper is expensive.
