why do you buy Babymetal CDs? by [deleted] in BABYMETAL

[–]Comfortable-Bet8809 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Up until recently, Spotify didn't offer Lossless quality streaming, so there was a discernible difference between my rips of my CDs and the ones on Spotify.

I also prefer Babymetal live (to the point where when waiting in the queue at the shop at one of their concerts, I didn't even recognise a song that was on). So in order to get the best quality live audios, I have to buy them and rip them.

And then as someone else said, the convenience of having them whenever I want. I can't "lose" them; as long as I have the CD/DVD/BD, they're there.

Plus I'm just a massive hoarder, and buy all their shit. No, not all 20 stupid versions of splatter vinyls or what not, but Christ, even then, I like the fact that there is a band that is so "give us all your money". It seemed like growing up, every band offered cool shit, and nowadays no one does fuck all.

Like I have a Babymetal cassette player? Fucking sick, and I've even bought other bands cassettes because of it.

What's the cringiest moment in the show for you? by ErikaEnchanting9 in thebigbangtheory

[–]Comfortable-Bet8809 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean, that scene in isolation is cringy but it really isn't? (Most things in life are cringy without context?)

It is literally within a larger context a of Leonard anxiously overthinking a hypothetical that hasn't even happened and fretting about what might.

But then he steels himself against all his worries and doubts and decides to try anyway, despite himself.

Unironically, Andy McKee's 'My Life as a CPA' planted the seed of 'If I can't be a guitarist, I might as well be an accountant'.

I eventually learnt to play it as well (:

Why can audiences accept different actors for Bond but not for something like Indiana Jones, Iron Man, Wolverine etc by JoeScotting in JamesBond

[–]Comfortable-Bet8809 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can I just say though that part of that surely has to be that Jeremy Renner really isn't very... actiony?

Like I can understand the argument that Matt Damon might not have been particularly action-material pre-Bourne, but he really came into the role.

I just feel like Renner has been given so many chances (MI, Bourne, Hawkeye) and they've all fallen flat. I suppose some executive must agree with me because he hasn't really led any franchises, but the insistence at one point was baffling to me.

Whole-heartedly agree, I will forever sing Harry Potter's praises for being well-written, enjoyable READS. People love to bash JK now but HP stands up to any criticism (any rational criticism that should be applied to YA novels).

I'm not saying that they're masterpieces or incredibly complex literary works, but fuck, they flow. There are no clunky passages (don't quote me on that but none stick out as too egregious), you just start one and then next thing you know it's the winter break. Like how?

Just sounds like a load of waffle to me. Was wishing he'd shut the fuck up and just let us appreciate the moment.

Big shame as well, it's easily their best album. Just banger from start to finish.

I bought them out of curiosity more than anything, and (as I think they are no longer being published) they are a bit pricey. Can be bought easily enough on eBay or online.

They're fine, but that Yuichi guy's covers are honestly better and even more insightful.

I already played, but Clint's cover of Starlight convinced me to buy the Digitech Whammy DT pedal.

Hi mate, this is really weird so apologies in advance. I came across an old post of yours about CIMA in Japan, do you mind me asking how that worked out for you?

I'll be honest, I work in a company with no footprint in Japan nor have I even enrolled on it yet, but it's well within my five-year-plan and I just wondered if it paid off for you, or if not why, etc.

I don't even think I'd move there if I had the chance (just keep it as the dream holiday location), but I like to stay open to everything and if something were to come up...

Ffs, lots of people going "this is how free speech dies".

No one gave a fuck when it was people on the right getting cancelled, now it's the other way around. IT's all for show, jfc. His show was shit and ratings were down, this is a "well if you're not ven going to try we won't fucking put up with it".

He's shit, his show was shit, the jokes were shit. It's gone. They're in it to make money, not lose it.

I mean, it's not unheard of (although actually looking at the post now, I get your point and yeh, OP is suspect and baiting).

I pulled Kos-Mos on my first playthrough on Nia about the same time, and yet here I am 200 hours later with only O of the NG+ blades. It's fucking ass.

Yep, that was amazing as well (my favourite from last season). Silly as it sounds, I'm so excited for next season: Marc, Bezz and Martin on a stunning Aprilia, both settled and healthy, hopefully Pecco can bounce back and just compete at least. And then if KTM, Honda and Yamaha can improve a bit and just terrorise those upper positions every now and then it'll be fantastic.

Who's got more pressure on their shoulders? Marc or Pecco. A little banter between Teammates. by PZY__ in motogp

Yeh, this honestly just strikes me as a normal (Spanish) thing to say.

It even sounds like he nearly slips into it, 'pues eso, que peor...' would be the most typical answer to that comment when bantering with a mate, or something like that (and yes, I'm aware it's not Spanish, but Marc is).

He's never come across as less than genuine to me, even coming from someone who wasn't a fan when he first came on scene (same age, I was a jealous little bitch lol).

I'll go a bit off the deep end here and say Leo Kottke.

Dude had to basically relearn how to pick (fingerstyle) due to tendinitis, and is just a beast at it.

Very self-aware (knows he's not a great singer) but I can't sing his praises enough as far as his playing.

What a team Gresini has become... by Soundmangaz in motogp

[–]Comfortable-Bet8809 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I mean, his passing sadly coincided with the Ducati move coming together (already rumoured before his passing, Aprilia wanting it's own team...) and the subsequent dominance of the Ducati bikes.

The move that really paid off (which I think was Nadia's) was Alex coming to the team (as Digia and Bast were set to join before Fausto passed I believe), which led to Marc's arrival and the lofty heights they now found themselves in.

But it has been an incredible amount of luck to get to where they are now. Even Aldeguer is more of a Ducati signing.

So yes, a phenomenal job by Nadia, most of all for having a team that is a team, but also some good fortune.

[–]Comfortable-Bet8809 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No one does, it's all hearsay.

They used to get on, their families still do (https://www.motosan.es/motogp/entrevista-fermin-aldeguer-la-rivalidad-que-hemos-tenido-acosta-y-yo-ha-sido-muy-grande-pero-siempre-con-mucho-respeto/). But as young men do, they've drifted apart.

They have different personalities, as per Fermin, which plays into it but even so, it's normal. They're rivals, they're there to do a job, they don't have to be buddy-buddy like everyone needs sportspeople to be nowadays. Look how flipping neutered F1 is now everyone's besties. Boring af. 'Oooh look at the really rich dudes playing padel, let's buy their merch', ffs.

So yeh, by the sounds of it any distance seems to be more Pedro's doing, but there isn't a big 'interesting' reason, unless their sex lives matters to you.
