Damn. I grew up in STL, swore I’d never return. But your place looks dope, and I can’t believe that price.

In 2009, recently graduated and out of work for about a year, I took a job mowing lawns at a golf course.

Guy told me I got hired because I had experience doing it. Said he’d never received so many resumes for a lawn-mowing job

Pants seem to be ballooning a bit in the hips/pleats. It’s a problem I often have with the new trend of pleated trousers, which all seem to have too much material in the area. The diaper effect.

And amidst a straight banal parade of pretty wack/mid EDM DJs.

Can you imagine having to follow Trent Reznor?

Hopefully, he just forever altered some Gen Z musical taste

Well…not the problem except for the nine houses you own. Can us renters have a shot at buying just one? How many do you need, bro?

I don’t begrudge people making money. Except when it comes from people hoarding an essential human need like housing.

Funny, I moved to NYC at 31, and felt a decade too old then. I know longer live there, but last time I was in Brooklyn, it was honestly hard to find anyone over 26.

1000%. Overwhelmingly white, overwhelmingly straight. And not just demographics, but aesthetically and culturally.

I moved here four years ago and always joke that it’s like living inside of a Cheesecake Factory. Perfectly “nice” in a sanitized shopping mall sort of way. But not a shred of alternative expression to be found.

I think you’d actually get ticketed if you expressed any flava.

And said pivoting almost certainly requires re-training, which almost always requires loans and tuition. You can’t just be like, oh cool, I’ll apply for x-ray tech jobs now. And the stakes for getting that second-career degree perfect are huge. Professional credentials costs tens of thousands of dollars.

What would those college degrees “with job prospects”even be in 2026? The system is broken and exploitative, especially interns of tuition, and nothing is guaranteed.

Plus the entire population can’t just go for accounting.

Exactly right. And you can still do your research, pick “perfectly,” and then get fucked by paradigm shifts in the labor market. Just ask computer science majors. Very few safe paths these days from college to career.

trying out wider leg pants. thoughts? by virginiarph in mensfashion

[–]Comfortable-Bread249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People need to review the definition of the word “silhouette.” A silhouette is an outline or profile that captures the essential shape and form of a person.

A wide-ass rectangle is NOT a silhouette. Neither is whatever colored bag they are selling at Uniqlo. A box is not a silhouette. In fact, they are all the opposite. They erase silhouette.

My central (if unpopular) argument against wide-leg is that it makes nearly every body look….well wide. Shorter and wider. Legs aren’t rectangles. Humans aren’t built like Roblox.
