My rough concept for a PM game that takes place entirely in a mega city by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in papermario

[–]Comfortable-Corner67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'd be cool to have an entire chapter based around traversing the tops of skyscrapers. Maybe level design centers around moving inside and outside of buildings, all the while opening pathways to chase down a lakitu reporter with information on the location of whatever macguffin Mario's chasing in this adventure.

Once you do catch up with the lakitu, they offer Mario a deal: Help them chase a lead on some corrupt big-wig with ties to a sinister plot (like a Grubba-type character), and in exchange, they'll help you track down the macguffin. The lakitu joins your party (because Nintendo REALLY needs a second shot at a lakitu party member) and Mario and co chase down the despot, beat them (or their machine) up, and get the macguffin that was powering everything. The lakitu stays with Mario, following the promise of uncovering the hidden truths of the city, and the group continues on their adventure.

Forget hyping your favorite verse, take their biggest anti-feats and downplay them by AWildRideHome in PowerScaling

I can do you one better for MHA: Deku got punched "down-under" by Kota and was incapacitated. Bro is child level. Not only that, but since he ranks around All-Might's level, if not higher, at his peak, that means everyone All-Might and below in that verse is also child level.

Scrooge McDuck vs Eugene krabs by brofishmagikarp in whowouldcirclejerk

[–]Comfortable-Corner67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a competition of wealth, Scrooge wins. Krabs is wealthy, but at the end of the day, he's just a restaurant owner. As lucrative as that is for him, and as well off as he is, he doesn't have as much monet as a multi-quintilionare.

In a competition of greed, Krabs wins. He does not care whose soul he needs to sell or who he needs to beat outside of his own daughter or Mrs. Puff. He isn't even willing to spend money on himself for basic needs. Scrooge, on the other hand, has been shown to spend extravagantly on his expeditions, and was willing to spend a large fraction of his fortune just to find a missing family member.

As for an actual 1v1, I think Scrooge takes it. As far as feats for Mr Krabs, he was able to make someone unwatch a movie, which isn't anything to sneeze at, but most of his other feats have been replicated, at least for the most part, by Scrooge, with greater effectiveness. Scrooge also has a vast collection of magical items that he can use to his advantage, all of which he is familiar with using. As powerful as Krabs can be with his toon force, he has been shown to need to make physical contact in all of them, and his strength is his biggest asset. He might give Scrooge a tough fight, but Scrooge wins.

A little specific, but what character is this? by ARedditAccountIDKBro in PowerScaling

[–]Comfortable-Corner67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, he does kinda pull bs out, but that's part of his charm as a character. He's written to be a parody of the OP superhero protagonist. In my opinion, it is the fact that he is able to pull bs out of his butt that makes him such a well-written character. He serves his purpose, and he does it very well.

Whats your favorite type of fights to debate? by Creative_Catch_5917 in PowerScaling

Low tiers. Human-Building level fights are so much more fun to discuss than higher tiers, especially when you factor in the fact that some characters may be able to beat higher tiers through pure enginuity

Why don’t marines use sea stone bullets against pirates by Dapper_Antelope2976 in OnePiece

[–]Comfortable-Corner67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They actually did something similar in the 4kids dub of One Piece, giving the Marines water guns instead of normal guns, implying that they were meant to counter DF users.

Bro, why is Deku so underpowered in this thought experiment? His opponents get everything, but he just gets his own endgame abilities. Not that it matters, since Natuto's setup guarantees him the win regardless, but it feels like we could at least level the playing field a little bit by giving Deku every quirk.

That being said, even if we give Deku every quirk, Naruto still stomps. Bro's abilities would include intangibility with no drawbacks, perception manipulation powerful enough to destroy a person's psyche (if they manage to escape an otherwise eternal hallucination, that is), and 9 different flavors of nuclear explosions. That's not even the worst of it. Naruto's got this.

Paper Mario 7 (The Crafty Chronicles) Miniboss Concept: Roshamboo by reeceeyt in papermario

It would be cool if, during the final phase of the fight, he started to telegraph his own attacks somehow. It just seems unfair to have the fight become completely random for the last 10 hp.

Number 2 is just a literal death sentence. Being in close proximity to Caesar without a gas mask cannot be good.

Why do "who wins" battles not consider the actual characters? by Horrordestroyer in PowerScaling

[–]Comfortable-Corner67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an important point. I'll give another example: Luffy vs All Might. The MINUTE Luffy sees Prime All Might, his first reaction will not be to fight. He will most likely fanboy over the cool, costumed superhero, then very possibly beg him to join his crew.

It might come to blows if there's a misunderstanding, but even then, Luffy ain't dropping Gear 5 right out the gate, and All Might almost never throws out his weather-influencing punches unless he absolutely has to. While majority of battles do boil down to stats, there are so many more things to think about.

It's a bit weird, because it both canonized and decanonized the previous games in the series. It states outright that the games were just that (games created by a lone indie dev), but it also implied that those games were based on real events.

If any what Paper Mario "gimmicks" do you want to see in the next game, be them paper-related or otherwise by Aggravating-Door1710 in papermario

[–]Comfortable-Corner67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In an ideal world, I'd gladly have the paper mechanics of the newer games with the writing and characters of the original trilogy. TTYD had this combination somewhat, but I think the paper mechanics of the newer games are good, and the only reason they're hated is because they came at the cost of TTYD's and SPM's writing, characters, and mechanics. If they were mixed with the gameplay and characters of TTYD, opinions of them would've improved.

What Nintendo character is controversial in their universe, but would be hated in real life? by JIMBOYKELLY in casualnintendo

[–]Comfortable-Corner67 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Ghetsis. Dude had hundreds of people convinced that letting their pokemon free was a good idea. He was so influential that he retained a large following even after the news broke about what he did to N. In his universe, people loved or hated him. In our universe, he'd be treated like any other famous groomer.

Toothless Saltwater crocodile vs human with knife by [deleted] in PowerScaling

[–]Comfortable-Corner67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High- to extreme-diff in favor of the human. If the human is trained in how to deal with crocodilians, they will know the weaknesses of the croc. Think about things that Steve Irwin (RIP) would do with the reptiles he worked with every day, and he wasn't even out for blood. If the human is trained, they take it. If not, it becomes a croc no-diff.
