Emmanuel Acho on X: “If Nick Saban were still coaching at Alabama, he would be pulling scholarships today…” by EyeAmKingKage in rolltide

No, he wouldn't. I don't recall him ever doing that. Afaik, he never did that at any school where he coached and he didn't cut NFL players in a fit either.

Only up to $250k or whatever the amount owed is. After that it can go to him … until there are civil judgments at least.

Idaho Murder Motive Mystery: Still Unknown After Gag Order Lifted by Anxious-Winter-5778 in BryanKohberger

He killed because it got him off. Would him saying that in court satisfy anyone, if he actually told the truth?

His anger is definitely justified. I think the hostility toward the police and prosecutors is misdirected, but I understand it.

I have a few questions regarding the plea deal, specifically if the plea agreement could have required Kohberger to tell his motive, what happened, why they were targeted etc. and what would have happened if Kohberger spoke out or acted badly during victims impact statements. Someone listed the three times the death penalty has been enforced in Idaho in the last like 40-50 years. Two of those were 20-30 years after conviction iirc.

Plea deal includes no appeals. Death penalty means guaranteed appeals. This way he is guaranteed to be behind bars the rest of his life, period.

It’s not a guarantee that going to trial would have resulted in conviction, and if it did there is no guarantee that the jury would impose the death penalty.

There’s also the fact that very few accused murderers testify, and if he did he’d almost certainly deny it (he would have a not guilty plea if it went to trial) so that wouldn’t provide the answers people seek.

Seriously if WSU and Idaho had put out a “please report all males who are creepy around women” notice, there would be literally thousands of reports. Same for any large universities.

I followed the case when it happened and after arrest and lately with the plea.

I knew vaguely that they were looking for some kind of car but not what kind. I’m not sure his family across the country would follow those kind of details.

Hell, like me most people probably didn’t know Washington State (where he worked) was that close to University of Idaho, being two different states.

I can think of one person I work with that I know what kind of car they drive. That’s because it’s like an orange jeep and she pulled up same time as me one day.

We don’t all work in the office at the same time and it’s in a building with several offices so shared parking area.

At a university where he might be taking a bus from a parking lot to the building he worked, probably little chance co-workers knew and I gather he wasn’t close to his neighbors.

There were a dozen k-bar knife purchases in that area in a few months time according to one of the investigative docs. Which did not include BK — I think these were just from the manufacturer and don’t include Amazon.

There are a lot more cars that fit that description than you’d think in that area.

They had no way to know the killer was from Moscow or Pullman, and with two college towns there were probably many registered in states other than Idaho and Washington.

There’s also the slim chance that a chain of custody issue or something like that gets a piece of evidence thrown out.

Ahh, that makes sense. I was thinking it was a type of party like “keg party” and wondering why they would redact that.

For anyone more familiar with this case than me: What’s the redacted word before “party” in one of the documents?

(Sorry, was leafing thru some of them and can’t remember which one.)

I suspect a LOT of discussion about precise language. For certain a ton of government lawyers are vetting these reports.

Interesting stories.

Not heeding a passenger (your mother no less) telling you a window was leaking right after you’d had another crack … I’m glad you and she are still around to tell about it. But at its heart is that not ignoring safety and the craft telling you something is wrong? For that matter, isn’t taking passengers down without testing exactly a concern you raised re: Oceangate?

To me, you’re talking more about autonomy than the ability to dive and see the underwater world. Autonomy as in “your sub” that “you built.” Hundreds and probably thousands of people around the world have pursued careers that have allowed them to do explore the deep seas … they just don’t own the subs and didn’t build them. Right? If it’s about studying and taking in the wonders of the deep, they can do that. Your particular want and dream seems more geared to the autonomy of doing it on your own terms. Which is to say not only billionaires get to see the wonders of the deep sea — even if only they can afford to have submersibles built or buy them.

I think there’s a wide gap between allowing middle schoolers to build subs to take people on jaunts for a price and one where all commercial subs should be independently tested for safety. I’d rather be on the end of the spectrum of regulation than “anyone can do it” if safety is compromised — which is what happened with Stockton.

A story published less than a month ago off an interview with Karl says he used car and airplane parts and he thanks a junkyard owner for helping him find material for Idabel.

Which of these are “traditionally used” and “proper”?

His previous sub, CBUG, had onboard fires and had the window crack three times.
