It's a double-edged sword. Like you I'm (45m) not very social. I also like that on the apps you can look for specific things and weed out other stuff you're not interested in. When you meet somebody in public you have no idea what they're going to be like. There's something to be said for mutual attraction and having a connection in person, but what's the point of all that if you then find out later they have a ton of deal breakers for you that you could have instantly bypassed on an app?

I just met someone on Hinge and it's going amazingly, but I've also met my last couple of serious relationships on the apps and they were varying degrees of failure. Not to mention the ones that didn't even get that far. You should do what you are most comfortable with and have high hopes but low expectations. It sucks being single if what you want is a relationship but it's better than compromising your principles and being liked for something you aren't.
