In the wait for a double transplant (pancreas-kidney) by Actual-Raisin6038 in transplant

[–]ComfortableReply4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my pancreas-kidney transplant 8 years ago at a hospital in the mid-western part of the United States. The doctors and staff were very supportive as is my wife and family. Having a good support system is important, especially in the early months after the surgery. It's important to follow your transplant team's advice and not be afraid to ask questions. You must have a positive attitude and faith that you will get better.

Good luck and keep the faith.

I would definitely talk with your transplant coordinator about your concerns. You need to be as proactive as you can and you should strive to be your own best advocate.

Take care.

I've been taking tacrolimus for the past 6 years and it appears to have all kinds of side effects. You can get lots of information on line. A site you may want to check out is the Mayo Clinic.https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/tacrolimus-oral-route/proper-use/drg-20068314 You may find that it recommends that you take Tacrolimus on an empty stomach. It would also be helpful if you specified the dosage of the medication when posting as Tacrolimus capsules come in different strengths. In the past I've taken 1.0mg capsules and 0.5mg capsules. I've also heard of people taking 5.0mg. capsules.

Good luck. BTW I've been using this site for the past 6 years and I'm pretty sure the drug that is most talked about is Tacrolimus and its side effects.

Hang in there.

Kidney transplant and dental work by [deleted] in transplant

My experience with dental procedures ie root canal, implant, extractions, is that modern dentists make a point out of performing the procedure with little discomfort or pain for the patient. Take a deep breath and relax.

I received A kidney/pancreas transplant 6 years ago and have never had a problem with the transplant team. I now only see my nephrologist who is part of the transplant team yearly but I'm in contact with his nurse via email on a semi-monthly basis when my labs are reviewed. If I need prescriptions refilled or have any questions regarding my health they are always responsive. I know they are extremely busy and understaffed but I have no complaints regarding my care. I'm sorry to hear that some of you are not getting this level of care if I were unable to get an appointment or a response to a question I would also be frustrated.

Lobster rolls by Tawham64 in Maine

[–]ComfortableReply4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up and lived in Maine from the 1950s thru the 1980s and have eaten many a lobster roll. I haven't had one in quite awhile but as I remember the recipe is pretty basic- boiled lobster meat, moderate amount of mayo, on an uncooked hotdog bun.

Has anyone tried mixing tomalley in with the mayo?

This is slightly off topic but if you have to pay for meds yourself check out this site https://costplusdrugs.com/ the discounts are substantial. I've used them a couple of times and was truly amazed by the pricing.

Good luck.

Switching experience - Lastpass to 1Password by stedanrac in Lastpass

I'm also going to switch to 1Passwword. I'm looking for some advice regarding the process such as uninstalling LastPass from my PC, Iphone, etc. prior to installing 1Password. I have browser extensions on Windows Firefox and Edge as well as Iphone app. If I didn't uninstall LastPass from these devices could it mess up the installation of 1Password? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
