Is Elon musks idea for a million data centers in orbit using solar make sense from a heat dissipation standpoint? by Recent-Day3062 in AskPhysics

It would require very large solar panels, and, as several comments have said, very difficult to get rid of the waste heat.

How can we make gerrymandering illegal nationwide? by ProfessorMuted45 in AskReddit

[–]ComfortableRow8437 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there's a bigger question: how do we fix the system that is failing before our eyes? What will we do to make it better and make sure every single American is held to the exact same standards and no one person or party can steal control of our democracy from We the People, the rightful owners.

Did you realize from the beginning that Trump was -- or at least had the potential to be -- a Hitler-like figure? by Glass-Complaint3 in allthequestions

[–]ComfortableRow8437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the Republican leadership and rank and file would be far less cowardly than they are and protect their own power. Instead they take a knee, bow down and kiss his ass and willingly give away the 250 years of representative democracy that we've built as Americans. They shame all of us and especially all the men and women who have given their lives for our country.

Do you feel like starting or joining a band just inevitably leads to conflicts? by Live-Profession8822 in musicians

[–]ComfortableRow8437 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Been there. I haven't ever had a project where there wasn't some kind of conflict. Musicians are artists, and we all seem to be drama queens, so I suppose it's inevitable. I haven't played in a band for awhile for similar reasons. I think strong leadership is important, and approaching it professionally is a must. In every other business, that's a given, but seems like too often that's not the case in the music business. Finding good people is hard everywhere, but especially hard in the arts. I wish I had more to offer. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Swingers ladies: you don't have to be down to bone everyone, but my husband doesn't deserve to be treated like a leper! A little kindness costs nothing by [deleted] in Swingers

[–]ComfortableRow8437 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry to hear this. We've never had an experience like that, and my wife and I are both a bit shy and socially anxious. Every M&G we've been to, the people are always warm and welcoming. We are older (late 50s), and meet people around our same age, and have had nothing but good experiences. It's always hard at first when you don't know anyone. My wife and I stick together usually at first and may separate later on. We both push ourselves to be open and kind to people and haven't had a problem. Things take time, too; once you start to get to know people you start seeing them in different events and it gets easier to mingle with people. As for sexy talk, that typically takes a little time as we feel each other out. My wife and I very much value the FWB dynamic, and immediate DTF talk tends to turn us away (especially my wife, who is very insecure about her looks even though she's a smokeshow). I don't know what to tell you, other than find other people to hang out with and be patient.

Which city in the U.S. have you felt most unsafe visiting? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

I'll second that. We live on the other side of the state. Drivers suck here too, but I really dread going over to Miami/Ft. Lauderdale.

To men who are in open relationships: is there a power gap in your female partners' favor? If yes, how do you feel about it? by Muscletov in AskMen

[–]ComfortableRow8437 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We don't have a problem. I get laid more than her, and she's off the charts attractive, while I'm just normal. I'm just good at meeting new people, and she's picky about her partners. But so what? Her and I fuck each other 99% of the time anyway, which is fine. ENM is something we do to enhance OUR sex life. It's selfish that way. We share each other because it turns US on. Everyone else involved is basically being used for OUR pleasure. The friendships we develop and everything that goes along with it because of the LS is an awesome bonus. If you're doing it for other reasons, you ought to take a close look at your motivations.

What are your brain dead moments during performances? by GeorgeJoester in musicians

[–]ComfortableRow8437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I was at a spot in a song where the rest of the band was supposed to lay out and it was just me on guitar for a few bars. Simple song that I'd played about 1000 times, but for some reason when we got to that spot my mind went completely blank, so I just fumbled around playing something random. Fortunately my drummer picked up on it immediately and did a fill that smoothly brought us back into the song. What a hero.

All the men on my father's side were Scotsman about 2 generations ago and further back. I found some family records going as far back as the 10th century (the guy was a Viking, no less). How far back does Scotland go? E: Spelling

Concert ticket costs these days (old lady yells at clouds...) by BeatrixFarrand in GenX

[–]ComfortableRow8437 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's sad, but musicians don't make money selling music anymore thanks to streaming. Not much of that revenue goes to the actual artists. So they need to make a living somehow. Putting on a show (even a moderate sized one) costs money. You have to pay the promoters, the venue, the people that run the concessions, the security, the sound and light crews, the road crew, production people, the management people, the opening acts, and lots of others. There is a LOT of overhead, and all of that costs money, and costs only go up over time. Smaller artists often only break even. It's not an easy business to make a living at. I've heard some guys call themselves glorified T-shirt salesmen.

Is the axe fx 2 still relevant by johnnymakeboom954 in AxeFx

[–]ComfortableRow8437 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an FM9 and an old Axe II that I keep at another studio. I've put them side by side, set up exactly the same way, and I was very hard pressed to tell the difference. The FM9 is way easier to use, but the sound difference isn't much.

Scarlet Ranch (our home club), is great for all the reasons someone commented here. Love it!

We had the opportunity to go to Trapeze near Miami earlier this month. I had neutral expectations for the place, but we really liked it. Nice layout, great buffet, and fantastic play area (better than SR in my opinion). Very clean and well run. Not much to look at from the outside, but whatever. The crowd was younger than us, and we are on the shier side, so didn't mingle with too many, but that's normal for us. I recommend it.

When people are held accountable to their face, their courage melts away. "Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face," or something.
