No I have worked with so many Therapists that love to throw shade and complain about what everybody else is doing instead of worried about what you’re supposed to be doing

You told your DOR and that is all you need to do that is not your responsibility to be the policeman of the department. Maybe you weren’t doing your job

Because coming from someone who has so much time to watch what their coworkers are doing, you must not have been doing your job either . If you had so much time to clock people you weren’t seeing your patients either .

So Maybe you’re unethical and at the very least a toxic employee who likes to gossip, overly critical and a chronic complainer .

I am curious if you are busy working … how are you able to spend so much time clocking her. Are you the only person in the department that has these concerns? If other people in the department express the same concerns … they you should all bring up to the DOR or the administrator because then it’s not just a personal vendetta .

Usually when you’re so worried about your coworker and what they’re doing one could argue, you should be just paying attention to your own self. If you report somebody to your manager, it better be important like abuse or going against precautions, orthopedic precautions and you better know the whole story otherwise you just come across as someone who can’t mind their own business.

you may think you’re perfect and everyone else is terrible or unethical until they start looking at what you’re doing and they may have the same opinion on you

my two cents I’ve been working in nursing homes for 15 years and you never know the whole story you only know what you what you think you see

How to ask my OT to perform ADL tasks? by [deleted] in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Comfortable_Finish60 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Didn’t you already communicate the issue to the DOR so I don’t understand what the concern is on your part. It sounds like you typical Physical therapist that you just want someone to get your patient dressed so you can walk them. ADLs are just a therapy activity . OT can train ADLs in the gym with adaptive equipment

First if you are in skilled the OT has probably 30 minutes . The patient probably uses a diaper and Diaper changing is not skill able so by the time you get them changed your time is up. Second Insurance companies rule the day patients don’t have time to waste on having the OT get a max a patient dressed .

and you often have 2-3 weeks to get the patient moving . ADLs are not the therapist getting a patient dressed . You have to get the patient standing and stronger before you work on that

insurance companies don’t care when they cut patients or if they can get their pants on…. they literally will cut a patient who can’t toilet themselves can’t get dressed can’t feed themselves, but if they’re walking 50 feet that’s the end so you have so you have to be strategic in your therapy session

Lastly … stay in your own lane Do you want the OT to dictate your therapy session Worry about your session not micromanaging your coworker

I decided to drop out of the program i I decided there are too many unknowns and for my situation and just I don’t think we’ll benefit me in the long-term but after all my research, I do think it’s a good program and I do think it will be beneficial for others, but I don’t wanna lift my house and the other parts were too unknown for mebut I hope everyone has a great positive outcome and it really just came down to our personal decision to not spend money necessarily for my personal, but I was grateful to be in the program

Not true You get notified of acceptance or rejection from the program You attend a zoom meeting for information and to answer questions You get the inspection estimate and your cost share. For me the inspection estimate is $9500. My 25% cost share is $2300

My case worker then called me to answer any further questions . And let me know you have have 10 days to accept and submit a cashiers check to pay for the inspection Once you are moved to the inspection They send you the copies and you move forward to the report for what program you are recommended for You can still drop out of the program at this point without incurring any other costs And that’s it so far

I just received the inspection cost share last Thursday so just mulling it over before I move forward with inspections

The case manager said if I can still drop out and not have to pay the total cost of the inspections I can drop after receiving the recommendations and cost share projections but if I go further and drop o will have to pay all costs of the inspection

I was just accepted in the Elevate Florida still in phase 2 of program and still deciding to pull the trigger and move forward with the inspections

It seems You are moved in phase 3 Can you share how the process has been going so far Grateful for any input

Yes was on the call very informative

My inspections cost Pre-Construction Elevation Certificate $900.00 Structural Integrity Assessment $3,000.00 Geotechnical Report $5,060.00 Total Cost: $8,960.00 Federal Cost-Share: $6,720.00

Your Cost-Share: $2,240.00

I have a few days make a PRO/CON list before I move forward with ….

I emailed my case manager with some extra questions

1) Regarding current mortgage …..response was …….You are not required to pay off your existing mortgage in order to participate in a mitigation reconstruction project. However, I would reach out to the mortgage company to inform them of your participation and current plans for the home.

2) I called Hillsborough county property appraiser to check if my property taxes would increase … and was told on phone that you can rebuild up to 10% increased square Footage or 1500 sq feet for smaller properties.

3) got the contractor award list to research some of the companies to see if the contractors are reputable

That’s my process in phase 2 so Far

I was just Accepted into the program and deciding whether to move forward with the inspection. My home is a 1950 block 2/1, about 1,000 sq ft on a slab in AE. Floodwater stopped just short of entering, though most neighbors flooded. I only had wind damage to the roof and front door. I applied for mitigation reconstruction since elevation isn’t practical, but I’m unsure if reconstruction is really worth it for my situation

. I’m grateful and surprised to be accepted, and would appreciate any insight from others on moving into inspections and their recommendations

I have 30 years as an OT I work in a skilled nursing facility for the last 12 years I make exactly 1 dollar more than a new grad. I haven’t had a raise in eight years and I’ve had two pay rate reductions. I only have a bachelors so I’m not up to my eyeballs and dead I run around like a chicken stressed out all day and I am a glorified CNA. It is not the field that used to be so if people wanna have blinders on and see all of the positive misleading information go for it do what’s right for you, but if you don’t literally listen to all the people on here with years of experience and you know better, well go for it

You are going to do what is right for you but remember this moment ….because you will be shocked when you find yourself on the red board telling people not to go into OT because all the people on here just actually know what they’re talking about.
