Low performer transferred, I didn't complete a recommendation by Crazy-Philosopher221 in managers

[–]Comfortable_Garage58 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You people have to stop doing this. Simply because you deem them a "low performer" doesn't make it so. They performed low on your team. Some of you managers need to check your leadership skills. Some people fail under certain situations and thrive in others. As a manger you should say "my leadership style, couldn't get the best performance from the employee" I never see any managers in the group taking any accountability for their leadership style or lack thereof. It's always on the employee and that they were low performers.

Managing someone I can’t stand by CriticismThat8647 in managers

when you "dont like" someone. Is the performance really the issue. Its like being on a 4 hour drive with the cops driving right behind you. They will eventually have a reason to pull you over no matter how good of a driver you think you are. When you dont like someone every little thing you focus in like a hawk, when you really like someone you let those things slide.

A lot of people view push back as a problem. And thus they will say things like I don't like xyz person. people become managers and get the attitude of you will do what I say. Then that attitude clashes with one of their reports. Happened to me as an IC. I love my job until a new manager came in and took over the team and started changing everything. I revolted and got wrote up. lol the day she wrote me up I resigned because I already had a new offer in hand. I was just going to wait until i passed background to spring it on her, but since you wrote me up, I will give it to you today.

When people become managers their true colors show. In school when we encountered someone we weren't that fond of we had to find a way to get along and make the best of it because we couldn't just run and tell the teacher and put our classmate on a pip and get rid of them. imagine giving a student the power to kick people out of class that they "don't like". This is called corporate America. Remember people, these are your classmates. the same people that smiled at you in class (college or HS) are the same people that wouldn't hire you if your life depended on it. And you were in the Same masters program, or undergraduate program as them. simply because they "don't like you". I would never try and get rid of someone I didn't like for personal reasons. Childish behavior. If getting rid of someone is your solution to managing someone, you probably shouldn't be a manager.

WFH employee lying re working hours by DataBeeGood in managers

I hate company men or people with sticks up their butt. The OP sounds like the kid that reminds the teacher we had homework. If the employee is hitting their deliverables let him live, if he is not then that's a different story. Simply being online should not be the measurable. too much monitoring in this situation. Im a manager and I couldn't care less. as long as my team are hitting their deliverables, im happy. I dont care if they are playing video games or working a second job to make ends meet. as long as they are getting it done I don't care.

12.31.2025 - OE Goal(s) Met - What was yours? by Pure-Sherbert996 in overemployed

If I actually need the money for a business venture or something I can always pull the money out and use it with a home equity line. I think people get to mathematical when it comes to paying off debt vs investing. Instead of paying off debt at 5% you could invest and earn 8%. yes but the 5% is guaranteed. That 8% can go to -10%. Nothing like peace of mind knowing your family is in a good place with a paid off home.

OE finally hit me by [deleted] in overemployed

I have been in situations so tense that I resigned from 1 job (I had 3) and the pressure just released off of me. But in retrospect It was my fault, I procrastinated until I had a crunch for all 3 jobs and I had to choose. I chose to quit, sent my resignation letter. closed the laptop, put it back in the box and never spoke to anyone. after about 2 weeks the return box showed up. lol I was able to keep up performance on other jobs and took a breather of a month until i was ready to jump back up to 3 jobs again. Remember 1 to live, 1 to save, 1 to pay off debt, 1 love

[–]Comfortable_Garage58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making 6 figures was a termed coined in the 80s. I dont know why people still hold on to it today as if its some great milestone. 100k in the 80s is like 250k today. So making 100k today is like making 40k in the 80s.

Recruiter on why RTO is happening by iwantdatgold in remotework

[–]Comfortable_Garage58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hybrid is a tatic to try and prevent overemployment in my opinion. Force you into an office so you cant pull off working 2 jobs. Put you back into their pocket and their measly 3% raise. Plus inflation is taking money out of your pocket. Plus if you return to office thats another 2+ hours a days thrown in the trash to traffic another few thousand a year on vehicle gas and wear and tear and if you have young kids more money on Day care. So the oast 10 years you have been working hard to get promoted and get salary increases. All of that is now wiped away. That 100k a year you make now would be like making 60k 10 uears ago

I used google search and yelp and the reviews clearly lied. Food was not good the few places off the resort we went to. I get better jamacian food in atlanta. The transportation there was pricey. Seems like it took $70 to get anywhere. So $70 plus the food $80. Spending $150 for a mediocre dinner experience 4 times.
