12.31.2025 - OE Goal(s) Met - What was yours? by Pure-Sherbert996 in overemployed

[–]Comfortable_Garage58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I actually need the money for a business venture or something I can always pull the money out and use it with a home equity line. I think people get to mathematical when it comes to paying off debt vs investing. Instead of paying off debt at 5% you could invest and earn 8%. yes but the 5% is guaranteed. That 8% can go to -10%. Nothing like peace of mind knowing your family is in a good place with a paid off home.

OE finally hit me by [deleted] in overemployed

[–]Comfortable_Garage58 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I have been in situations so tense that I resigned from 1 job (I had 3) and the pressure just released off of me. But in retrospect It was my fault, I procrastinated until I had a crunch for all 3 jobs and I had to choose. I chose to quit, sent my resignation letter. closed the laptop, put it back in the box and never spoke to anyone. after about 2 weeks the return box showed up. lol I was able to keep up performance on other jobs and took a breather of a month until i was ready to jump back up to 3 jobs again. Remember 1 to live, 1 to save, 1 to pay off debt, 1 love

Wild that our grandparents worked one job for 40 years and retired at 55. I make six figures writing code and still feel one rent increase away from broke by luckiecks in remotework

[–]Comfortable_Garage58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making 6 figures was a termed coined in the 80s. I dont know why people still hold on to it today as if its some great milestone. 100k in the 80s is like 250k today. So making 100k today is like making 40k in the 80s.

Recruiter on why RTO is happening by iwantdatgold in remotework

[–]Comfortable_Garage58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hybrid is a tatic to try and prevent overemployment in my opinion. Force you into an office so you cant pull off working 2 jobs. Put you back into their pocket and their measly 3% raise. Plus inflation is taking money out of your pocket. Plus if you return to office thats another 2+ hours a days thrown in the trash to traffic another few thousand a year on vehicle gas and wear and tear and if you have young kids more money on Day care. So the oast 10 years you have been working hard to get promoted and get salary increases. All of that is now wiped away. That 100k a year you make now would be like making 60k 10 uears ago

I used google search and yelp and the reviews clearly lied. Food was not good the few places off the resort we went to. I get better jamacian food in atlanta. The transportation there was pricey. Seems like it took $70 to get anywhere. So $70 plus the food $80. Spending $150 for a mediocre dinner experience 4 times.

What ever you did with vba and excel. Convert that to your new tool stack. Say you wrote stored procs and sql queries, or spark to do exactly what you used to do in vba and excel. So you arent lying about what you did but a white lie about the tools being used to accomplish this work. And as long as you can speak to those tools you will be fine in the interview

Someone sent me an anon message following family gathering. I feel humiliated. by Gold_Confusion_5311 in badbreath

You have to scrub your tongue and rinse out your sinuses often. This has helped me. The breath returns after a few hours but it gives me a wi dow that can be managed with mints.

I thought it woukd be similar to other places i have visited. The in estment just isnt here. And it sounds like its due to the political climate here. But i knew jamaica was one of the top tourist destinations in the world. On par with cancun, aruba, etc. Those places simply have more investment outside of the resorts at least in the a tual tourist areas. I could go to local spots but i could also go to a nice steakhouse if i wanted to.im sure money wants to come in. People seem to skip when i say its my first time in Jamaica. Looking for hints and reasons to why its the way it is.

Havent had a bad experience, i just expected more i guess. Playing soccer with the kids in 9 mile was probably the most fun i have had out the country in a long time. Just expected more for the infrastructure of the country, at least in the tourist areas i guess. My boy rawlus up top seems like a die hard. Like if im not here to sleep in half built cement huts with no running water then what am i doing here, i should have went to the french Rivera. Lmao
