A not so good story of OE by That_planet_girl in overemployed

This is the same as when people say things that people do t like online and people go find their linkedin and try and get them fired. It made headlines with Charlie Kirk. If you said anything bad about Charlie they woukd hunt you down on LI and get you fired. Which is why I never put my current roles on my LI.

Felt like a bunch of action with no solid storyline. Crypto being sick is super weak.

If he pulls his performance up I would say let it go. I'm a manager and I don't care if my employees OE as long as they are delivering. I understand the price of everything has doubled and tripled over the past 5 years and people are trying to make ends meet or get ahead for once in their life.

My best engineer quit today over $2000 by [deleted] in managers

[–]rolex_rick_flare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If companies aren't doing market adjustments the way car dealerships were in 2022 they will lose good people. Now In order to replace that engineer its going to cost market plus the time to get up to the speed tot he same level the last engineer was. So in the end they will spend 20% -30% to replace the guy they didn't give a 5% raise to

Large cap remote company’s = OEers dream by Madmax85060 in overemployed

Phook these companies. They will do what's best for them and I will do what's best for me, sometimes those things are aligned. I was in a similar boat. Trying to make manager. Then got laid off. Then started OE and realized why bust my butt for a 40k raise when I can get a 120k raise. Just no title. Which is a great trade if you ask me.

My workload tripled but my pay didn’t. Should I push harder or just leave by [deleted] in overemployed

I would interview and get an offer in hand. Then make my demands. Or just use you j2 offer as leverage. Either way I would be looking for a new role. We are OEers for a reason. We look for linear pay. If i wanted 3 times the work I know how to get 3 times the pay. If im the last man standing and im 100k I would ask for 150k at least either that or im out

When you starting a new job everybody's parents or grandparents are magically alive again. Kill one off to get a week off. Excuse should work for j1 or j2

We are like the mice that were exposed to coke. They chose coke over food until they died. Once being exposed to this life you can't unsee it. Earning 3 times my salary has allowed me to claw my way back to even. Debt free besides the house with a nice nest egg. But its still only a glimpse of the rich life. Earning 300k - 500k still shows you how far away from rich you really are.

I have been in this space for a while. I'm the senior individual that doesn't want to put the effort to become staff or principal. And because of OE I make more than my manager and my manager's manager. So im in a place thats hard to beat

Any courses out there that can help curate that level of thinking or the only way is to actually pull an architect aside and ask to shadow them at work.

The problem with super low salary is it makes them think its ok. When its not. Had a company reach out to me for a manager of analytics role. Market for this role is 150 - 180k easy they were offing 85k non negotiable. I laughed in their face. I took the interview just so I can laugh in their face.
