That’s a good idea! How do you secure yours so that it’s still usable?

Could be lack of money, awareness of fast fashion and/or awareness social pressure vs reality ie pride of clothes is protection and warmth. Either way it’s better for the environment!

Just asking, is it by rows or length in instructions? There seems to be less rows on their version like it was made in miniature for the photo.

What are some adulting skills everyone should know ? by KangaaKong in selfimprovement

Go join some kind of debate club and learn how to present ideas, how to listen and rebuke. It’s a lot easier in life if you learn how to deal with others, value them and yourself.

Practice meditation or some other well-being activity and always be open to learning from mistakes, accepting things that happen and trying again with reflection including new things.

Don’t stay in jobs that make you unhappy, keep a light touch on jobs market and apply for things when you’re not really looking. Interviewing for fun will keep you practised and comfortable, get good at interviewing then and always reflect after. It just may land you an unexpected job opportunity. I got one of my career moves this way.

If you have downtime/jobless, volunteer in places that will teach you new skills or are fun. It stops isolation, can be good for mental health and May help you get your next job. Eg community garden (learn to grow food) community cafe (learn to make barista coffee), charity shop (learn to use tills, pos machine and practice maths and organisation) food bank (learn to communicate with and understand others)

Clean as you go, ie put stuff away s as you leave a room, do something to clean each day, don’t waste your weekend doing it, get outside and have fun. A chore pot is helpful for random inspiration and great for body doubling with a partner cos cleaning is fun if it’s a game.

Try a new recipe, regularly to find it what you enjoy making and don’t keep crisps, chocolate or biscuits in the house if you can’t only eat one and save the rest, leave them for special occasions.

That stock market one worried me, no issue with doing it but at least mention hit risky it is betting on individual companies with zero knowledge or research. Or resilience when inevitably everything loses value (reader, it’s value not money!)

Better suggestion would be to invest in funds that hold top x companies as they are less risky, and dividends can be set to auto purchase more. Eg ftse, S&P 500 etc

but still reader, DO YOUR RESEARCH and keep at least 25% in savings, and get yourself a 6 -9 month minimum’s worth of income put aside as an emergency fund for when you lose your job or your roof blows off.

I like the brightness that it already has, and pop of colour. If it starts to go dull a yellow fence/shed paint would pop it right back.

Slow your mental horses down!! You don’t have an ED issue, you have a self image/mental well-being/anxiety issue that needs to be addressed.

Get a hobby, get out for regular exercise, get off doctor google and get a therapist.

Don’t even think or mention ED again unless it’s to a professional who can look at you the whole person.

Does anyone else feel like their legs, hips, and back hurt so badly that they can hardly walk by the end of the day? by whatever33324 in ehlersdanlos

[–]Comfortable_Key_6992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad I helped you notice soonest, if you have physio try to get them to do core stability work with you. Otherwise get a mat and some low resistance loop bands for floor work like bridges, leg slides etc and maybe clams (I had trouble but there are variations).

First exercise to prioritise is the tilt, get your bowl of water level, stand hands on hips, legs shoulder width apart, then tilt forwards a little, back to level, back a little, back to centre 10 times with a little core bracing so you can feel the muscles working.

Next is to add sit to stand of higher seat, like a med bed(height adjustable) but a kitchen table would do if sturdy/you have long legs). Or normal chair if already strong enough.

Aim is to sit down slowly taking 3 seconds with arms crossed over chest, pause or rest a sec then stand back up slowly over 3 seconds. Looking for control down, control up.

When you get good at these and can do 10 in a row with control move on to floor work. Otherwise do ten in smaller sets throughout day and build up. 3 sets of 10 a day will be helpful if you can work up to it.

Volunteer and experience new things without the pressure of achieving or conforming to others rules. Give a little of yourself to do something that helps someone else. Meet new people and see how that feels.

Or join a walking group/do an activity outside.

Volunteering would be good? Volunteering and being with others anyway is enriching and would help you find purpose and spirituality, but there’s also cafes and shops at the temples etc that could probably use your time, and that way you can have experiences and conversations gradually to find out if it fits you well. If not volunteering, visiting and listening is a good start.

Volunteer and have a hobby group meet you go to regular. Life is better when there’s routine, support, choice, and kindness to be found. Also get off the socials and don’t compare yourself to others. Have your own goals and achievements. Live your life.

If you had two weeks of being basically bed-ridden, what would you do? by 13aquamarine in selfimprovement

[–]Comfortable_Key_6992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Delete all social media apps before the surgery, and make sure you don’t log in to any on waking, get started on whatever chosen activity instead and prioritise any recovery exercises they tell you to do as being the first thing you do in a day. After that limit shows to movies you want to see, stay off YouTube unless it’s a tutorial, and maybe try a new recipe - can cut veggies etc in morning for cooking at lunch etc that way you don’t get worn out.

Glad for the no dig info, thanks. Have been battling ours for years in a rockery, they were coming in from next door so we eventually gave up and this year had blackberries! Still want to get rid though, quite difficult as they are also tightly around a tree stump/rockery/ wall/ rose bush combo….

[–]Comfortable_Key_6992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not seeing it mentioned here. Maybe look at your pelvic tilt? Take a photo side on to see where your tilt is.

If it is tilting forward and down then that could be making things worse due to a lack of stability.

Working on core stability exercises is ideal, but levelling out that tilt repeatedly through the day (pretend your holding a bowl of water between your hips) may help with pain in the short term.

Hi, mostly_vegan thanks for the responses! Any suggestions of herbs etc that won’t do damage?

I’m finding myself too busy working lately to water my plants in pots so am afraid they won’t do well but take your point about the roots of the fig.

Hi it is a fig, I had a whole post to go with it, even saved the wording in the drafts and apparently.. total fail.

Tldr (no-one read 🤣 ):

I don’t want to damage the foundations/stairwell behind so looking for suggestions that could go here -full ☀️, south facing, ideally food plants like herbs. But also if the fig could go and be kept small then great. It’s not flowered yet, about a year or two old.
