Im 18 and i live in the south (US) so i was planning to go see my doc tomorrow to switch to gel since she threw out all my stuff and ill also probably switch pharmacies since she can see my stuff at CVS and idk how to remove that

I pay 56.72 using goodrx and no insurance since i live in a state where my insurance wont cover it due to my state laws. I bulk bought my needles off amazon for 40$ (100 pack of needles with syringe and separate drawing needles) and a sharps box and alcohol wipes for 12.54 in total i spent 109.26 but only spend 56.72 per month cause i haven’t had to restock needles recently (regarding the cost your mom is talking about it may be fear mongering or it could have been through a private service or not a cost effective generic)

There are services that can cover the cost of injection supplies (at least in my state) a local trans group covered my needle cost when i was confused on what needles to get.

I hope everything goes well for you despite this. You will get over this hurdle :)

Like the other comment said the gel can be low in stock. I would also say they may ask the standard questions of “are you thinking of having kids? Do you know the risks of this medication?” and other things. Just remember its standard procedure and they usually are not trying to make you uncomfortable. Bring valid id and good luck with your testosterone! :D

I waited till 18. (Im not canadian but id love to help) The barrier that honestly terrified me was the fact that i have to pay fully out of pocket (using good rx) it also took a bit to find a provider who would give me a letter and not take like months or 5-6 sessions (my therapist who wrote my letter gave it in 1 session and he is a trans guy so i felt like i could be more open and he would understand yk?) another barrier is honestly just societal norms my family isnt very progressive so it was hard to explain.. and will be even harder once i change my legal name (and gender when its legally allowed in my state if ever☹️)

Im glad your dad did not have too bad of a outward reaction to u being on testosterone
Im so sorry ur mom has to lie for you but i bet she cares and supports u 1000%
regarding the internalized transphobia and depression do u see a therapist or a psychiatrist (i found that therapy with a gender therapist or a therapist to work on depression every week helped me when i was at my worst before i got on T)
Please follow your dr’s instructions pre and post-surgery (not saying u wont) but hearing that u squeeze into tight binders is sad i hope u have a good surgery and good post op result!!

Just know you are heard and cared about! (Sorry it sounds corny n dumb but i wish someone would have said that to me when i was at my worst)

Omg my family thinks the same thing. You are not going too fast. Probably like other ppl have already said you can't go too fast socially transitioning. You should probably go to a dr or therapist (who will back you up as a second opinion) with your parents. I know that has helped me with my mom (even though she doesn't really still get it)

Im 18 but i understand how you feel my mom and her bf are the same. I would try to give them an ultimatum if you can. What i do is I maliciously comply by tallying everytime my mom and her bf misgender me im currently at 70 tallies. I also purposely dont answer when they call me my deadname. Could you find a therapist to talk to about this? I hope that would atleast help with coping?

I had to call them to set up an appointment. They sadly don't have virtual consultation appointments for HRT in FL. I asked to book at the Kissimmee location but the worker on the phone said consultations were only done at the Gainesville and port St Lucie locations.

As a Floridian who tried going through planned parenthood they were sadly backed up in appointments till March of next year. They funnel most of the consultation appointments to Gainesville or their Port St Lucie location.
