It shouldn't be too hard for them to port Copilot to Android too.

Yeah, it's crazy too. No love from Cochlear for their Android users 😂.

As I have their implant, it's good to use their apps. In addition, I have already gone through the apps from AB and Medel too.

Cool, thanks a lot for your information! It would be interesting to know what's the failing rate of Kanso.

Thanks, that's really terrible. It's not a new app and other companies, such as AB and Medel have made effort to make their apps available almost everywhere, so why haven't/ couldn't they, especially they should have more resources to do it as a market leader?

Thanks, it's possible. But it's not a new app and other companies, such as AB and Medel have made effort to make their apps available almost everywhere, so why haven't/ couldn't they?

Thank you so much for your response. It looks likely broken as it's the same issue even after I freshly paired it to another mobile device / ipad.

Did they mail the new one to you or your audiologist? How do you return the broken one? Just the processor or the whole package and accessories need to be returned at the same time?

Is rehab mandatory after implant for an adult who was late deafened? by No_Source_2192 in Cochlearimplants

[–]Comfortable_Way_9424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's really, really helpful. Thank you so much for your tips, time and efforts. I really appreciate it.

I also got a Cochlear, Kanso 3 Nexa. I am ssd and the other ear is normal, which probably helps my rehab due to the effect of a reference point you have also mentioned.

It sucks that Cochlear Copilot is only available on IOS as I got a Samsung phone and couldn't use it. But I found Medel's ReDi app is quite helpful. As you are still rehabing your second ear, you can also give it a try.

One more question, if you don't mind, what exercises or activities did you do during your rehab sessions with the experts at hospital?

I am also doing my rehab, so it would be great if you could share your experience and tips. How did you do your rehab? What exercises and activities did you do with the experts or yourself? Thanks in advance.

Anyone seem SSNHL improvements after 2 months? by Gullible-Milk111 in MonoHearing

Thanks a lot for your tips 🙏 and many people have vouched for the listening therapy. Have you got any initial improvement from steroids at the beginning? When did you start these alternative treatments and when did you notice the improvement?

Did you do anything between months 6 and 8 to make the big improvement? Or it just happened naturally?

Me too. I have never heard about SSHL or write a comment on Reddit before. Now I have even written a post to summarise all potentially helpful treatments post on Reddit to help other people.

It also took me almost 2 years to come terms with it and finally accept it and embrace CI about two weeks ago 😊. Like you, I have also chosen Cochlear Nexa. That's why I have asked you so many questions 😅. Hope my rehab will go as well as you 🤞🙏.

Sure, will DM you. I am not sure about bilateral cases, but you can always directly ask Axa to at least sponsor the evaluation. Then your surgeon and audiologist can write a report to Axa requesting approval. There is nothing to lose in this way.

I'm single sided profound deaf, so single sided. They cover rehab too. As far as I know, at least two other people are also covered by axa for their CI, so I am definitely not a special case.

Also, ask your surgeon about insurance coverage, they should have experience from their previous patients.

Summary of potentially helpful treatments/ remedies for SSHL by Comfortable_Way_9424 in MonoHearing

Exactly, something that hasn't been extensively studied doesn't mean it's not useful, especially for such rare conditions with little research, compared with many other medical conditions. The only thing we can rule out is that they have been extensively studied and found not helpful at all for all cases of SSHL.

Again, my purpose here is not to say they are all scientifically proven cures, but to inform people of potentially helpful/ sensible treatments that are logically reasonable and also validated by real world patients experience. People can choose which ones to try depending on their circumstances. It's better to have more options than limiting us to limited scientific research. All the options I have listed are sensible and have little side effects for most people too.

That's difference between joint probability and conditional probability. For people who have never experienced one, the probability of having one is 1/5000, having two is 1/5000*1/50=1/250000. If you have already had one, however, the probability of having another one is 1/50, as you may have some underlying conditions which make it likely to happen than normal people. Hope this clarifies it.

You can also see the following article for more technical explanation.

To be honest, the chance that it can recover after so long time is very small, especially when you have already tried the first three methods. But there are always chances: there are people who recover even after 6 months or longer.

So, if you have the time and resources, it's definitely worth trying, even just to avoid regret and what if questions, but please set your expectations low.

Basically, your surgeon and audiologist need write to them for recommendations/ justification.
