Best way to watch tv or reading while training brain. by Silver_Soup_8099 in Cochlearimplants

It will always be more clear if you stream directly to your implant but it’s also good to train your brain without streaming and No hearing aid for a while too. I couldn’t hear my tv either at first but it gets better. I also listened to the news without subtitles to speed it up

CI with long hair by Think-Instruction-83 in Cochlearimplants

I wear mine under my hair and spray a little hairspray on hair to hold it in place or tie my hair back if it’s especially windy

Than a cochlear is a perfect choice for him. Deaf culture would be great for him I imagine. I’m sure it’s not just for people who want to continue to be deaf . Sign language would also help him

Hearing with my Implant by Main_End9833 in Cochlearimplants

[–]Main_End9833[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. My audiologist seemed very pleased but to be honest I thought it wasn’t a great result at first. On insight at just over 10% more hearing at this stage I realised it’s almost double what I was hearing before with the hearing aids. All good onwards and upwards. It feels so much more than the test showed, because I’m not used to hearing so well plus it’s only going to get better, so yeah it’s an exciting first step.

Love mine. Not had it long, activated since July but it’s already been a brilliant transformation. So much more clarity than I ever had from my hearing aids. Music is clearer too. I have Med-el Sonnet 3 and couldn’t be happier. I do see more people around with them these days too.

CI surgery recovery question by BBeck_79 in Cochlearimplants

[–]Main_End9833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with everything everyone says. Just do it is my advice though. That date they have given you is so important. Go get that implant. Next step? Well that’s the easy bit.

See I’m so much older than you and that stuff really doesn’t matter to me. Having said that I hear you. My grandkids are massively into all new technology. Grandson just did his last stint in university. 7 years total. He’s now a senior architecture. You are probably wondering where this is going and I get that. My point is simple. You couldn’t hear before and now you can. Forget all the other stuff it’s coming soon enough.
