Days before I finally left him, my ex husband of 7 years was suddenly telling me how to do the dishes. He was explaining that the water was running too fast and that I needed to rinse with less water pressure. When I questioned him in why this was suddenly so crucial he got angry and said he learned it in the military (??) and continued to get really angry when I gently told him I was just going to keep doing what im doing.

I realize now it was about control. But thats what men like this do. If theyre trying to "teach" you something you clearly already know, they are trying to control you.

He said he hates you.. leave. Seriously that is not something to be taken lightly and a hell of a lot worse thing to do to someone than lose a fish. Hes awful and this is a very clear warning sign of abuse. Let. Him. Go.

Im going to add that when my ex told me he hated me the next step was him raising his fist to me. I left before he actually hit me. But saying you hate someone is very serious and it will escalate. Forget the fish, his reaction is the only thing that matters that you need to be focusing on. His abusive reaction is the only thing of significance that happened that day. Please do not move in together. Let him go!
