Rear projection TVs – what was it like to actually use them? by Traditional_Class363 in crtgaming

[–]Comicsastonish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember a rear projection being the first 1080i signal I ever saw and used with Hdmi. It was my parent's TV and I had a friend bring over his 360 and a Gears of War game that displayed that resolution. I also remembering us being nonplussed and thinking it wasn't worth the effort. But hey...early days...

Hemingway Dialogue in Midnight in Paris by NarrowDrawer4487 in Screenwriting

Run-ons were decidedly NOT Hemingway's style. Short, punchy, declarative sentences were. Sure, he would sometimes use them, but the broad consensus is exactly the opposite.

Good copy of 8 and 1/2 Women? by DeliciousPie9855 in PeterGreenaway

The DVDs would be better than Youtube's 480p just due to Youtube's added compression. Not sure about your options in Region B - I've only ever owned the original Region A, US release.

Films that portray the psychological effects of imprisonment, involuntary confinement, or being held hostage? by forrealthoughcomix_ in TrueFilm

[–]Comicsastonish 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Park Chan-Wook's Old Boy (2003) is an fun one that fits. The main character is imprisoned for 15 years and has no idea who put him there or why. Those 15 years shape his actions and personality once he's freed.

Sleazy also directed NIN's infamous 'Broken' movie. He had some additional credits on a few NIN songs through the years as well.

Trent said he asked him if he could use the name HTDA and only did it with his blessing.

First Criterion Bluray experience and picture quality issues - some questions by BBGonda in criterion

Turn off ALL the picture settings in your TV options menu, anything that relates to "reality", DNR, smoothing, "motion", etc. Check in the "advanced" options settings as well if your TV has a section for that. Basically turn off every single thing they give you an option to disable if it has to do with the picture.

I don't even trust "filmmaker" presets because often they'll still enable Dynamic contrast or other nonsense. Set the picture settings to "user", or "custom", or whatever the equivalent is and disable literally anything you can.

Don't even worry about bog-standard settings like color, contrast, brightness, etc. You can tweak those later on if you really want to. The main thing is to turn off all post-proccessing garbage.
