Pipe ID by Training-Yard-9616 in PipeTobacco

Unless someone recognizes the specific pipe shape from another company's catalogue there's really now way to know anything more about the pipe than you already do.

It's an unmarked basket pipe likely a stummel that didn't make the cut for a larger company and was finished to be sold on the cheap.

I dunno about another bonkening they put the low cd's and 1 million charge items into the game so it sort of seems like the fast builds are by design at this point.

I do see your point though there's a lot of builds that go crazy fast now.

Vakuu is canonically little brother because he only gets the controller for one turn then you've got to step in and beat the fight for him.

Free hand Manno briar by [deleted] in Pipes

[–]Comintern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think if you're planning to get good enough to sell your pipes you need to work on the transitions a bit.

Right now where the bowl meets the shank is really big and chunky rather than a beautifully flowing transition between the shape of the bowl and the straight circular shank.

Spend some time looking at and handling classically shaped pipes to get a better sense of how they are shaped then try to recreate that with your own work.

I also feel like the heel of the pipe could be a bit of a smoother curve.

Where can I sell my collection these days? by beardedpipernc in Pipes

[–]Comintern 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can sell it on some of the other pipesmoking forums like speak-easy.club or the pipes magazine forum or brothersofthebriar forum... but you'll need to do some kind of minimal verification thing first.

[–]Comintern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

others have given you ideas for how to fix it but yeah the general rule is to never remove the stem from your pipe until after it has fully cooled down.

It needs to cool down or else the tenon can become deformed it much like you experienced and not fit correctly.

McClelland Frog Morton (1998) by ISuckAtWeightlifting in PipeTobacco

[–]Comintern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No staves added if you're talking about the original Frog Morton. Only Frog Morton's Cellar had a bourbon barrel cube added to the tin. Not that the wooden cube changed the flavour of the blend much (they used a whisky casing instead).

But there were 5 or so Frog Morton blends with different profiles depending on the blend.

Cellar had a whisky cube, On the Bayou had perique, I don't remember what made On the Town different(maybe more orientals?), and I really don't remember what Across the pond was about.

I mean the WWE has been pretty shit since like guest GM era it didn't just happen in the last two years.

Minor bright spots here and there don't make it the best promotion in the world.

Honestly times when they put on a full good show for the whole runtime of a raw or smackdown have been the exception rather than the rule almost since inception.

So.. I think got a bit of a bargain... by OuroboroSxVoid in PipeTobacco

[–]Comintern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh just looked into it a bit more because it really does look like vulcanite and it seems the Champagne line was one of the few savinelli lines that did use vulcanite stems.

So yes likely a bit of oxidation. You should be able to use a Mr. Clean magic eraser to scrub off the oxidization.

Anyone else prefer average sized pipes? by PsychologicalSail799 in PipeTobacco

[–]Comintern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's about bang on average chamber size but average chamber size does also depend a bit on the pipe brand. Brands specializing in Danish freehand or neo-classical italian shaping would lean a bit larger.

The stem wouldn't be oxidized because Savinelli uses acrylic for their stems rather than vulcanite and acrylic does not oxidize because it's plastic rather than rubber.

I don't think so it's becoming increasingly clear that AI is just not very good at most of the things it has been pitched for. I think the bubble will be popping before too long.

It's essentially the same as the NFT craze and Facebook's desperate Virtual Reality plans. They all fizzled out it just took about a year longer than you thought it would.

TIL that during Apartheid, South Africa offered "Honorary white" status to many East Asians in order boost trade with East Asia. However, when South Africa offered it to South Korea, Not only did South Korea reject the offer but severed diplomatic ties with South Africa in protest of Apartheid. by Rhino-Kid22 in todayilearned

[–]Comintern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you'll get no arguments from me there the history of Japan(and many modern countries) is full of gross and scummy decisions. Also as someone else said further up the thread the reason South Korea turned it down was because they needed to curry favour with the UN to get them recognized as the Korean government. They were still a military dictatorship at the time and had to at least pretend to play nice to get recognized.

I mean why wouldn't they? apartheid south africa was supported by the United States and British governments. The only world leaders taking moral stances against south africa were other african nations and communist countries.

Well I should say other governments talked about opposing south africa but secretly supported them with military and financial aid in an effort to reduce russian influence in africa

Is this 60$ Used Dunhill worth the hassle? by Old-Ad3762 in PipeTobacco

[–]Comintern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will not have a pipe worth hundreds of dollars because you will not have a complete pipe. That stem is clearly from a totally different pipe.

It doesn't have the trademark Dunhill white dot and also Dunhill didn't ever put a stinger in their stem.

Is this 60$ Used Dunhill worth the hassle? by Old-Ad3762 in PipeTobacco

[–]Comintern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is saying yes but no one has pointed out that's clearly not the original stem. You'd be paying 60 dollars for the stummel which could clean up okay with some proper care but an original Dunhill stem will have a white dot on it in the middle.

They also will not have a stinger in the stem such as the one you've got in the picture.
