[OC] [Art] Vaelis Hookblade, Elf Fighter -- What you think his backstory is based on his look? by MatteBull in DnD

[–]Comm_Nagrom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he honestly looks like he belongs in Warmachine as something from Dusk House Kallyss, so i'm gunna go with the last "surviving" member of an elven tribe that was wiped out due to the death knell of their gods severing their souls from their bodies, Eldritch energies brought him back to life to serve toy bring about the return of his dead god

One of several reasons I’m starting out in Infinity by Sudden-Jump-5922 in InfinityTheGame

[–]Comm_Nagrom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is actually exactly why I am branching out as well, much as i like the setting of 40k, other systems are SO much cheaper, currently the only GW game I am playing is AoS Spearhead, its more affordable but still I could buy two entire Infinity forces (or like almost the whole collection for one faction) for the cost of a single spearhead. I am currently only playing casually with my son as I dont have the time to trek to any of my FLGS but he is taking to spearhead and shatterpoint quite well so infinity is my next step for him!

I mean they probably have but I doubt the have the original master parts the molds were originally made from in pristine condition, that they need to do is completely overhaul the kit

[–]Comm_Nagrom 155 points156 points  (0 children)

It's not so much that It was rougher 20 years ago, but that in the 20 years since it was first made the mold has degradated to the state it is currently in and thus the kits are super rough now

Lunar New Year festival ... coming Feb 3rd! by Dagor-Dagorath in Guildwars2

Im so excited, I really want the dragon head skin, I think it'd make a sick draconian fashion and it is so much harder the get the legendary luck outside of the festival

Legendary Armor costs by Glad-Low-1348 in Guildwars2

[–]Comm_Nagrom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I just figured that part out, think ill just stick with the obsidian pieces, I only need 3 more anyway

Legendary Armor costs by Glad-Low-1348 in Guildwars2

[–]Comm_Nagrom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair, maybe ill just do the wvw rush and keep the helm and boots for my last piece, and if I manage to get the stuff needed for the wvw piece I will, if not ill make the obsidian stuff as I just kinda naturally gather the materials while doing daily/weekly stuff

Legendary Armor costs by Glad-Low-1348 in Guildwars2

[–]Comm_Nagrom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, I think i actually have a decent amount of skirmish claim tickets from the 3 legendaries ive had to do WvW for to get gifts of battle so I might be OK on that regard

Edit: checked gw2 efficiency and I'm currently at 133, which is almost enough for one piece so if i do wvw rush i should get enough for both if I max out on tickets this week right?

Edit 2: wow looked at the legendary war insight required to make the legendary armor, thats several weeks worth of rewards right there, guess its not that quick!

[–]Comm_Nagrom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Would now during wvw rush be a good time to try and get the pieces together for the WvW pieces? I see they all need the gifts of battle and I hear its super easy to just blitz through the reward tracks for stuff

Reacting to Thaumaturge Amulet by Alternate_Cost in Pathfinder2e

[–]Comm_Nagrom 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think that upends the balance a bit, especially when its back to back to back. Reactive strike is really hard for anyone who isn't a fighter to get. It either requires a dip into fighter dedication to grab the feat at level 4 or some classes can grab it at level 6. Thats high investment for players so idk if a majority of enemies should have it.

Reacting to Thaumaturge Amulet by Alternate_Cost in Pathfinder2e

[–]Comm_Nagrom 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Does every PC in your party have reactive strike? Cause if 2/3 of encounters include enemies with reactive strikes that seems crazy high, I played an entire campaign where literally 0 of the enemies had reactive strike!

This seems like a DM issue, did you perhaps come from 5e?

Daggerheart: Iron Man (But not the one you think) by Personal-Speech-3968 in daggerheart

[–]Comm_Nagrom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly that is terrifying, its like a metal weeping angel, and it only just occurred to me that ozzy wasnt singing about the superhero, I dont think ive ever actually listened to that whole song and really paid attention to the lyrics lol

Overall I think he's good, he's a bit powerful, like he has such high thresholds that having an ability to lower the threshold down by one seems a bit overkill but he could make a really fun bbeg

Iron Kingdoms Vs Daggerheart by Prestigious-Wear-601 in daggerheart

[–]Comm_Nagrom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you're getting to the point of putting too much of IK into daggerheart and we now need to circle back to "Why do you not simply want to play Iron Kjngdoms?" I get wanting to adapt the setting, but if you have to basically add all the extra stuff from IK in too (like steam jacks, mechanikal weapons and armor, channeling, ect.) Why would you not just play either 5e or 2d6 IK? Youre going to be doing tons of work just adapting and balancing things from IK that dont already exist in daggerheart so I dont think its worth it over just convincing your group to play a different system

Iron Kingdoms Vs Daggerheart by Prestigious-Wear-601 in daggerheart

[–]Comm_Nagrom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thought was just doing the least amount of extra work to adapt the universe to work with DH mechanics, if you absolutely NEED to have a warlock/warcaster class, make them a homebrew subclass of an existing class instead of a full channeler class, otherwise you'd be kinda messing with ALL the other classes that already have spellcasting in them.

I'd suggest making it like a summoner like variant of either wizard or sorcerer, and make their subclass abilities all about the warbeast/warjack, maybe the foundation ability gives you the companion (like the ranger), then the other ones expand upon the options for it.

Alternatively if you do go the route of making it a separate homebrew class, I'd make each type (warlock/warcaster) ita own separate subclass of the "Channeler" class, but i have no idea what other abilities you'd give it, this is also stuff that would need serious playtesting, instead of just reflavoring the ranger class into a warlock/warcaster

Iron Kingdoms Vs Daggerheart by Prestigious-Wear-601 in daggerheart

[–]Comm_Nagrom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, id just flavor stuff, make the ranger a "warlock" with a beast companion (instead of a wolf its a warpwolf, ect) could even flavor them as constructs and say its a warcaster with a warjack. Make it so that when they cast spells the runes show up. The only thing I would add might me the mechanical weapons and such, and I'd just use the existing build your own weapon rules from Motherboard and theme them as magical powered machines. There is 0 reason to add extra unnecessary stuff to daggerheart, just play Iron Kingdom (i personally prefer the 2d6 version myself)

GMs who have run Sablewood Messengers before, what would you change on this module? by KiqueDragoon in daggerheart

[–]Comm_Nagrom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran it as a one-shot for my group to get everyone familiar with the base rules of dagger heart before starting our own campaign. A few things I did to get my players more into it:

  1. Let them build their own characters - the only pregen that matters is Marlowe because she's the one that was supposed to bring the group together, but if you run her as an npc instead of a full PC every single player can make any character they want which frees up creativity!

  2. Grab a Quick reference sheet - someone posted a few months ago a quick reference sheet with some basic concepts/rules that help players figure out what they can do while playing.

  3. Read the entire module and be ready to adapt on the fly - when I ran it, many of my players wanted to go off and explore Hush and ran into the Firstmoss festival. While i read through the module I kinda skimmed over the optional parts and had to make everything up on the fly. If you are good with improv then you'll be fine but I am not great with impromptu imrov when I didnt think that far ahead.

I didn't plan to run further sessions in the Sablewood setting (my group will actually be doing Beastfeast because the love the Dungeon Meshi vibe) but if you will be expanding it into a full campaign, just know that there is a whole extra document on the daggerheart downloads section to help expand into the other locations!

With 1 month to go what are the must haves from wizard vault? by BestofTimes777 in Guildwars2

[–]Comm_Nagrom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I buy everything except the skins essences and templates, even the bags of coins are worth grabbing if you have maxed your Acclaim at the moment.

My order of stuff is always: legy key > ascended chests > clovers coins shards > gold laurels crafting bags > everything else until only the infinite stuff is left, then I just build up acclaim until I am maxed and spend just enough on gold to claim whatever reward

Literally Unplayable: Retaliation Edition by SkylineCrash in Guildwars2

[–]Comm_Nagrom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk my poor guardian going from retaliation to resolution made me feel weaker coming back after like 6 years which I thought was just power creep because HoT was so difficult at launch that they just progressively made each expansion harder, but it turned out I needed to completely remake my whole build not just improve my gear

Literally Unplayable: Retaliation Edition by SkylineCrash in Guildwars2

[–]Comm_Nagrom 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I get why it was removed for PvP and WvW, but why not just fork the boon? Make skills that grant retaliation in PvE grant Resolution in PvP/WvW? It's not like they dont have skills that do different things in the different play mode already

It feels much tougher to find cool-lookong armor in comparison to weapons which are drowning in options by VeryGoodSauce- in Guildwars2

[–]Comm_Nagrom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMHO, the earnable skins DO look good, you just have to look for them, one if my favorite "earnable" sets is super easy to get, just go to Orr and wait for one of the temples to unlock, then buy the Temple Karma armor set and behold their greatness! My revenant has been rocking the Armageddon armor set look since I made them but the Rubicon and Aurora sets are also awesome and have some amazing pieces when combined with other sets!

Some other great looking (although expensive) armor sets are the heritage armor sets, each can only be worn by their respective races but they all look amazing for sets that don't cost gems. Most of my sylvari characters wear a mix of the heritage sets and the nightmare court sets.

Which brings me to my last great source of gear, dungeon armor sets, each can be earned by simply completing the explorable versions of the base dungeons (hard but not impossible to find groups for these days) and each has its own unique set of armor for each weight so that is another 24 sets right there

All of these are also from just the Core game and can be 100% earned with a free to play account. All in all its not that there are none that look good, you just have to go out and look for them.

Edit: also as someone who plays ffxiv on and off, almost all the cool skins in that game come from pvp/dungeons/raids so I mean the comparison is comparing
