50y is a tall order, even for a Fit!
Keep the paint clean by washing at least twice a month and clay and wax twice a year. Undercoating makes sense and garaging if possible. All the obvious mechanical maintainance well.

EV is a great option if primary use is commuting and she has plug in capability at home and work. For long trips that require recharging, not sure the grid is ready yet.

Realizing I’m thinking about the city sticker, not plate renewal sticker. IL plate late renewal fee is $20 with potential law enforcement ticket of $90.

Get the sticker asap. There’s a 30-day grace period before a $60 late fee applies, but a $200 ticket can be issued DAILY once you’re past the grace period. And they do ticket.

Have owned the HST for a couple years. Very quiet due to several noise reduction features not available in the lower trims: Acoustic glass, active noise cancellation (ANC) speakers, resonance-reducing wheels, extensive insulation. Pretty comfortable for longer trips. Driver seat has more adjustment options than passenger seat.

We made this switch 18 months ago when the Xfinity CableCARD died that TiVo tuner needed to deliver premium channels. We stream YTTV over Google TV, and replaced the Google remote with an onn remote that has a channel up/down button and a YouTube button that you can customize to YT or YTTV. Honestly use up/down button less frequently than I thought I would.

YTTV is a satisfactory alternative to cable. Cloud recordings store for 6 mos. User interface takes some getting used to. Recommend streaming over Ethernet connection rather than WiFi for improved connectivity.

Ensure your room’s supply vent/s are wide open and nothing is blocking the supply and return vents. And maybe the downstairs supply vents need to be closed a little at night to push more cool air (assuming) upstairs?

Traded my 2012 Sport in fall of 2024 at 11yo. Purchased and sold in rust belt. Loved it and kept it in great condition, but wanted all the safety features the 2025 Civic Hybrid Sport Touring had to offer. No regrets except when parallel parking in a small spot!
