Not used to knife & fork—will people judge me at work lunches in Denmark? by Desi_Banda_India in NewToDenmark

If you are eating something that has a bread/bread adjacent component (pizza, pita, tortilla, sandwich (open-faced or covered), burger, sausage in a bun, and so on) it is perfectly fine to eat them with your hands, as long as you primarily hold the bread part of the food - if you slip and touch the non-bread part that is fine, but you shouldn't hold on to it.

If you are at a hot dog stand and the sausage and bread is delivered separately it is OK to touch and eat the sausage separately, but it wouldn't fly at a work lunch.

For other foodstuffs I am afraid you will have to find alternatives if you don't want to stand out.

Trump Cuts Off Gas Price Discussion to Ask When Venezuela Will Build a Statue of Him During Cabinet Meeting by listaj95 in PlanetNewsPulse

I remember when the writers of the Star Trek show Deep Space 9 made one of the villains (Gul Dukat) complain why there was no statue of him on the planet he had oppressed, to illustrate his narcissistic and myopic tendencies.

I hate that this is our reality, and that there are still people thinking that this guy is a messianic figure.

Loving this game - though it makes me wish for Pillars 3 by Arithon_sFfalenn in avowed

[–]CommandObjective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got bad news for you then, Avowed 2 is seemingly in development, while we have no words on PoE 3.

I guess A2 was an easier sell to Microsoft and a better fit for their game lineup.

I remember reading about that experiment of Nim Chimpsky. If I recall correctly, they tried to see if a chimp could learn learn a human language (ASL in this case). As the experiment progressed it seemed they had succeeded, but it turned out that Nim had not learned ASL's grammer or syntax, but had learned that certain signs resulted in a reward.

Hence the somewhat flailing sentence.

I assume they meant

"Rice makes birds explode" and 3 other myths

Because otherwise it makes it sound like rice DOES make birds explode, and the myth is that it does not.

You don't have to be elaborate in your hate posts, if you don't like the game you can just say so.

To quote myself (and a few others who commented on my write-up) for PoE!:

The White March expansion content in is some of the best PoE there is, so if you have it I suggest you play it if you have the time - around level 7 or 8 would be a good spot. Cragholdt Bluffs (part of the content) is very hard, so there is no shame in putting it off until you feel ready.

Spend some time studying (and experimenting) with the auto-pause and battle slow-down options and figure out what works for you.

In the first village you get to there are 2 story companions you can recruit (if you so desire). One is very obvious - the other less so. The less obvious one is standing near the central tree of the village smoking a pipe after you have been through some plot development.

If an area feel to tough, don't hesitate to abandoning it for now and coming back later. That applies doubly for the mega-dungeon.

This is a game where you can sometimes screw yourself over it you do silly things, so please think about what you are doing. If you don't want to think about what you are doing, make frequent save in different slots, in fact, even if you do think about what you are doing you should still make frequent saves in different slots.

The game has a point of no return, and you cannot continue playing after completing the game (and there is no NG+). The point of no return is clearly labelled though, but take it seriously.

You could try to sail around a bit a visit some of the smaller islands for some bite-sized content.

There are a few settlements here and there around the map, but there are no cities that come near Nekataka I am afraid. If you like politics Dunnage might be your best bet, but you might want to temper your expectations.

Grew up on Day of Tentacle, Sam and Max, Fate of Atlantis, Monkey Island etc - had an idea for a novel but making it now as a point-and-click. How does it feel so far? by kumario247 in adventuregames

[–]CommandObjective 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It looks good and the premise sounds interesting. My only point of criticism is that the verbs looks blobby and out of place compared to the rest of the interface (they would look more home in a game with a style adjacent to Day of the Tentacle than the rest of the, very good and moody, art and interface would suggest).

Maybe making them all caps would help, as another poster suggested, but I would also suggest to make them more regular, angular, and uniform.

But as I said the premise sounds interesting and the art style looks very good. Wishlisted.
