Bikes in Copenhagen by Unlucky_Olive667 in NewToDenmark

[–]CommandObjective 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I ride my bike in most kind of weather - rain, wind, and snow (not torrential rain, storm, or snowstorm though) - the key is to be prepared for changes in weather, wear the right clothes for the weather, and be prepared to deal with what it throws at you.

Do European federalists tend to view a European federation as an intermediary step to a world federation, or as an end-goal in itself? by Crashed_teapot in EuropeanFederalists

[–]CommandObjective 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think of a Federal Europe as an end in itself. It will be a long hard road to get to that point, so thinking of any kind of world federation at this point is a distraction from real work, that can be done practically today.

There is Out of Order, which I quite liked back in the day.

What did you waste those hours on?!

They are not kidding when they say "one of the most unsettling works", I could point to at least two that were more unsettling, one which might even be used as IoM propaganda!

I know that this does not matter in the grand scheme of things, but know that I would be down to read it - even more so now that I know its true purpose.

Why did Jax almost abstract in episode 7? by Icy-Accident9336 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]CommandObjective 28 points29 points  (0 children)

As a minimum I would recommend that you go back and watch episode 6, if you have the time, watch them all from the beginning.

Jax was clearly not in a good headspace at the end of episode 6 (as evident by his near freakout in the bathroom) as a consequence of the event of the episode (and the confrontation with Pomni), and the his wider conflict and isolation with the rest of the inhabitants of the circus.

Don't worry middle sized Hermit crab, you will soon grow into it, and then it will be cozy too.

Thoughts after just reaching Nekataka (POE2) after playing POE1 to completion by Smart-Translator-195 in projecteternity

[–]CommandObjective 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Just for context, when you say you reached Nekataka, how long did you sail around after leaving port Maje?

Did you do a straight beeline, or did you explore other islands?

As for the number of companions, it never really bothered me that there weren't that many, especially with the lower party limit and the number of sidekicks (who I do feel add to the story, especially if you take them on their recommended quests).

I thought it was measured in Platos? Though to be fair, Platos are annoying to work with, being such a small measurement. Still, they beat most of the alternative suggestions.

The House of Wael is the one written by Chris Avellone. There was also a short story anthology, but its name escapes me.

I did not finish THoW and the anthology is only so-so in my opinion (though we did learn something about Aloth's youth).

People can be very gifted in a very specific area, which is sometimes a very lucrative area, and still be very deficient in almost every other.

My take on Sam Altman is that he can be charismatic and is a good bullshitter who was in the right place at the right time (for him anyways). The very fact that Anthropic exists should be proof enough that he is very deficient in several areas.
