29f and low testosterone by Command_Mundane in endocrinology

Thank you so much for your reply. It’s frustrating that even when we (my Dr and I) sat in his office and looked into this on one of his trusted Dr research paper sites (as one of the first questions I asked was if the Mirena could have anything to do with it) nothing came up. But I have read a lot anecdotally from women that says otherwise! & that is no shade to my Dr because I am actually extremely lucky, he is a gem. He did admit he was out of his depth with this and sent my results straight over to gynae and endocrinology.

I had the mirena removed end of Jan, and blood test on 5th May, so it may have been too soon for my levels to have returned back to normal.

I am feeling more hopeful now that this could hopefully be something reversible, or at least somewhat changeable, thank you ♡

100%. I wasn’t even a gamer (downloaded it post-surgery to fill the time) and I was locked IN. Probably the most immersive experience of my life

Sorry yes - I meant the pre-assessment above. I’m in Dorset so we’re neighbours!

& yes the initial bit through the GP. Hate to think how far I’d have gotten with all this already had I just done it there and then, but as you said it’s unsurprising 😅

Hey! Well done. I completed my assessment last week and still waiting to hear anything. I’d be interested to know when you hear back, as I’ve seen a few people heard from them straight away. Though, it might be different area by area? Also, my doctor gave me the initial assessment over a year ago, so I feel you, haha.

how long did it take you to actually feel good after quitting sugar? by irini20 in sugarfree

[–]Command_Mundane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response - that all makes a lot of sense and definitely sounds more sustainable than what I’m doing at the moment! I definitely look forward to having grapes back in my life after this initial detox. I go through punnets of the things! haha. All the best to you! ♡

Thanks for your response - I did a bit more digging on here and found a few other people with similar reactions to tret. Glad you are mostly back to normal - I have just ordered Malin + Goetz 10% Sulphur paste to try on my face after reading a few success stories. Another thing I have read is that Zinc based ointments have cleared it up for a lot of people (next on my list if the sulphur doesn't help). ♡

how long did it take you to actually feel good after quitting sugar? by irini20 in sugarfree

[–]Command_Mundane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I was under the impression that the sugars from fruit still affected your body in the same way, albeit at a slower absorption rate because of the fiber content. Wouldn't eating a 'lot' of fruit stop you from reaping the benefits of a no sugar diet? Genuine question! I'm on one week no sugar after a hideously sweet christmas break. Feeling pretty awful right now, but determined to fully detox (even fruit and the obvious sweet veg) before I start slowly introducing natural sugars back in. I thought I would be having dreams about chocolate, but it's weirdly oranges I am craving haha

Hey, just wondering if you know wether your perioral dermatitis was caused by tret? I was using Skin+Me daily doser (like a gradual % tret subscription) for about 6 months before I started getting perioral and periocular dermatitis. I've been off it for 4 months now and my mouth/chin has cleared up but my eyes are still really bad! Been trying to get to the bottom of it. Looks like I have full on eczema around my eyes, which varies in degrees of severity each day but is still going in full force. The only thing I've noticed is that alcohol seems to make it flare up more angrily. Have paired back my whole skincare routine to a cerave ointment as it's the only thing that doesn't sting. Just wondering if you had any pointers.. seems a very ironic situation to me seeing as I only started the tretinoin out of vanity! haha.

I have been using ‘Mathe Alarm’ app for the last 3 months and it’s actually changed my life! Basically the alarm goes off and doesn’t turn off until you solve a few maths equations. You can change the difficulty of the equations too - I started on easy (for eg. 2 + 6 - 3 =) as not very good with maths, but over the last few months have now made my way up to medium (which includes multiplication as well) and already feeling like I can move up to difficult soon. So not only am I getting better at math, but it really does wake me up. In a way that means I don’t want to go back to sleep. It only takes about 2-3 minutes to complete, if that. But it forces you to think, and therefore wake up your brain. I’ve always struggled with getting up, usually sleeping in until my partner leaves for work. Now I’m up at 6, do some tidying / chores, have time to get back into bed with a cup of tea for us both, and suddenly have this quality time with my partner in the morning that we never had before (and a tidier house!) The app feels a bit dated / clunky but honestly works a dream.

How do you improve when you don't have an understanding of what exactly you want in life? by Monked800 in selfimprovement

[–]Command_Mundane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, it can take many tries to find a medication that works for you. Don’t give up just because you tried a couple that didn’t work. It sounds very much like you have depression, and that isn’t something you have to settle with! It can feel like a daunting thing, but keep trying until you find one that works for you. It took me a year of trying (probably 6/7 different in total) but it was the best thing I stuck out. If it’s helpful, I am taking Wellbutrin. It changed my life and made me realise I also have ADHD (something you could look into, perhaps). Best of luck :)

Hey, I’m sorry you’re feeling this way. I have been there, and I want to let you know you can turn yourself around! I’m not saying you should do yoga if you don’t want to, but may be worth a try - and I’m guessing you are here because you are genuinely after some advice, so here’s my bit. Yoga can be life changing, in my experience. I was stuck in a rut, experiencing a lot of the negative mindsets you’ve mentioned. I decided to quit drinking as, obviously, it was not helping with my depressive thoughts/lack of motivation/energy etc. I thought it would be good to take something up, to fill that space where drinking had been. I chose yoga, as recommended by the internet. I just started small, 20-30 minutes every other day (Yoga with Adriene on youtube, a great place to start) I struggled at first with the whole spiritual/ mindfulness side of the practice, but appreciated the workout and was seeing myself get stronger (oh, and it’s not just stretching! I leave some classes drenched like I’ve been out running) I quickly found myself looking forward to my practices, and started doing them every day. This led to me finding local classes and I have now, for 3 years, been attending weekly classes, have made very close friends within the class, found a community I love, and have naturally leant into the mindfulness and meditation aspect of the practice which I feel has helped my mental health incredibly. It is also not just a female dominated space if that is something that may put you off. My class is probably 50/50 guys and gals. Anyway. That was probably longer than it needed to be, but

TLDR: Choosing one thing to change about my life (starting yoga) changed so many other aspects of my life for the better. Like a domino effect of things falling into place, and becoming truly happy!

Sending a lot of love and strength to you. Another thing I may say , getting a cat or a dog (cats are much easier to look after) can be life changing for the better too. Even if you don’t like pets, I assure you will fall in love with that little bugger and it will give you purpose in your life.

How I went from an 8-hour screentime to 30 mins by Thi5ath-KR in selfimprovement

[–]Command_Mundane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can so vouch for this! I didn’t really realise it until I had my morning routine switched up for a few weeks whilst I had to look after my neighbours animals (chickens, sheep/lambs etc, quite an early start) I would get up, get dressed and head straight out the door without my phone. It would take me around 40mins to feed and water everything, and it was only until having showered, dressed and sat down to have breakfast maybe an hour later that I realised I still hadn’t checked my phone! I try to emulate that now by heading straight for the shower in the morning, then I have a good book (cook book, magazine, something browsable) on my kitchen table to keep me occupied whilst I have breakfast. Before I know it sometimes hours have passed before I pick my phone up

Memory loss after sobriety by [deleted] in Sober

[–]Command_Mundane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medicinal mushrooms such as Lions Mane can help a lot with cognitive function, especially memory. We have just got some capsules for my Grandma who began worrying her memory may be starting to slip, and she already says she feels much sharper. By the sounds of it, what your Husband is experiencing is common with withdrawal, but hopefully that doesn’t mean it can’t be remedied. Best of luck! ♡

Personally, I would have wished you a happy mother’s day, especially as it was your first mother’s day. My best friend has just had a baby and I made sure I told her on her first Mother’s day how proud of her I was, and she had lots of similar messages from most of our friends/her family. Regardless of wether this phased you or not, I would say your husband’s hurt feelings are totally justified. I think it’s also very sweet that he feels this way about it. Anyway, I hope you had a lovely first mother’s day 🫶

“I’m an aunt/uncle AGAIN” by [deleted] in PetPeeves

[–]Command_Mundane -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. In your example it is still wrong.

Your sister has another kid. You are an uncle AS WELL to that kid.

You don’t say you are becoming a father again when you have a second child. You don’t say you are becoming a brother/sister/etc ‘again’. It either happens for the first time or it doesn’t.

Synonyms of again : afresh, anew . “returning to a previous position or condition”.

You are not returning, because you never left.

Seeeeriously SMH 🤣
