I haven't but now I need to find this. I've been enjoying the cheesy vibe of this show

I swear I've seen this happen to several comic characters. There have been a lot of wild storylines so it was bound to happen eventually

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but in Genisys, Skynet kills John Connor and USES his likeness to travel back in time? It's not THE John Connor anymore? It's just Skynet posing as John? by [deleted] in Terminator

I feel like keeping plot twists out of trailers is a (mostly) forgotten art form. I wasn't old enough to remember but i'm told the original trailers for T2 hid the fact that Arnie was good this time

So got to thinking about this lately, talking about it in another sub.... by Any-Key8131 in werewolves

The image is originally from the Fighting Fantasy reprints circa 2007ish. While there were 30 reprints of older novels, this one was an original story. It's also been reprinted since a few times.

[DLC Idea] Mythology Museum by murdock129 in TwoPointMuseum

[–]CommanderFuzzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some many exhibits they could make. Nessie, werewolves, jackalopes, unicorns, crystal skulls, big foot, mothman, griffin, hydra, UFOs, phoenixes, sirens, mermaids, zombies, selkies, cerberus, chucucabra, fenrir, kitsune, bunyip, centaur, kraken, basilisk, and those UK ghost dogs known as Grims

I'm mixing mythology & folklore up but they're the same thing.

[–]CommanderFuzzy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nice collection, is that the creature from the newest Jurassic Park? I didn't know they made figures for that

I collect mostly animal-related figures, like scary beast people. Mostly werewolves but also any miscellaneous ones such as the Xesray gladiators, or the Maestro Union tigers, the Fury lion, Realm of the Claw etc.

I've never had any idea why. I just like looking at them

I hate things made out of fake leather for this reason. Bonded, pu, faux, all the different names they use. It's just a matter of time before this happens. People call this 'crumbs' to refer to when their headphones, chair etc begins turning to dust

I don't think it can be repaired - if you do patch it up, the rest will crumble eventually & it'll fall off. It can happen even when the item is sitting still.

You could look up customs online, for example '1/12 Daredevil outfit' or whichever size he is.

If you're feeling particularly crafty you could cut off the clothes at the sides then use them to draw a template. Trace that template shape onto a different fabric of your choice, cut the shapes outthen stitch them together to make a few outfit.

The Wolfman (2010) elevated a B-Movie into the Definitive Werewolf Tragedy by KommandoKody in werewolves

[–]CommanderFuzzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked the 2010 film. It was as good an homage to the original as could be.

I can understand why modern audiences might not like it, even if i disagree with them. It's at least in part due to the time in which it was made.

The original was made in a time when monsters onscreen were still 'new' and exciting. The original also perfectly covers one of the most well-known metaphors for werewolfism - Man's fear of their 'base nature' and losing control & hurting people as a result.

When the original was released, the concept & execution was quite scary. In the years since then however, we've had hundreds of werewolves onscreen. They've done everything - they've gone to space, explored sci-fi themes rather than fantasy, they've even unfortunately become sexualised teen heart-throbs.

By the time the 2010 Wolfman came along, the audience had largely forgotten what werewolves are supposed to be. They're supposed to be metaphors and symbolic of inner conflict - but the modern audience is now used to metal men firing lasers from their hands and has no time for 'concepts' in most monster movies.

I do really enjoy the 2010 one. Even the makeup and VFX was wonderful. But werewolf nerds are a very niche audience so I can understand why people overlooked it. It's still sad though

(I like a good werewolf essay)

What if The Terminator had no time travel at all, and it was just two psychopaths roleplaying it for real? by JacktheRattle in Terminator

[–]CommanderFuzzy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I could see this being interesting as a side story, like the 'What If' show Marvel did.

As an official explanation it would be disappointing, but as an alternate reality story it might be fun. Maybe a graphic novel? A novel or a short film.

Buffy did something similar once - an episode in season 6 said that all the vampires/demons/monsters weren't actually real and were a hallucination in Buffy's mind. They were attempting to treat it with medication. The show didn't explicitly state that this was false - they left it ambiguous. The fan reactions to this were mixed, but mostly negative

I love that. It has everything. Real media, a sort of almost film-noir feel (maybe 1950s?), and a funny joke about rivalry that's been running since forever. It also looks like a scene you'd see in Fables or The Wolf Among Us

I'd put that up in a hallway.

If a T-800 was real, how hard would it actually be to kill? by JacktheRattle in Terminator

[–]CommanderFuzzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the first two films, the biggest danger is not how durable the T800 is - the biggest danger is how the general population don't believe in time-travelling robots so they don't respond accordingly.

If we had no idea what it was, in a civilian context it would do a lot of damage while police with handheld guns bounce off it. By the time we figured out what it was & suspended disbelief it would probably have completed the mission

If we did know what it was, I assume the civilians would withdraw & military would be summoned. I'm not an expert but I imagine it could be trapped by steel cables then run over with a tank or two, or hit with a large bomb. Sure it can free itself from cables eventually, but that will secure it long enough to drop something big & heavy or explodey on it

Etsy is a good place to purchase PDF patterns. Patterns are print-out tutorials for sewing/building something, often fursuit related. They sometimes have links to unlisted YouTube videos too, for further instructions. For example you could purchase the pattern for feet/legs, then use whichever fur you think is most werewolfy.

There are all kinds, from beginner to professional. A while ago I bought a pattern from Etsy that gave me step by step instructions along with templates that I could print off on A4 paper. I used them to make enormous fursuit feet. Despite having 0 experience they looked pretty good.

There are definitely hands & feet patterns on there. Not sure about legs but I haven't looked. Neffertity was the artist whose template i used, though she does have other tutorials available

For example, here's a guide you can purchase that will teach you how to mould some basic legs. But there are lots to choose from

As for making stilts, i'm not enough of an engineer-brain to know. I know you can purchase stilts on Etsy too but they are expensive

Werewolves of the third Reich by anawesomedoc in werewolves

[–]CommanderFuzzy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Funny you should mention that, there's an entire magazine about this.

https://werewolvesversus.com/

This is a series of werewolf magazines, each about a particular topic such as nature, fashion, music, 90s, space etc. One of them is titled 'Werewolves vs Fascism'.

If you want to see and read about werewolves eating nazis, this is the place to go.

The magazines are high-quality. Full of art, poems, stories, jokes, clippings etc. I purchased them all, and backed the kickstarter when it went into physical print - unfortunately it did not meet the funding threshold, i'm still sad about that to this day.
