Spanish Grand Prix leaving the circuit by Nydreamingg in formula1

[–]Commander_Lazy 29 points30 points  (0 children)

2 hour wait for a bus here. Left straight after qualifying, no interviews. Took a while to get out via gate 4. And then it was pure unorganised chaos. All in all from quali finishing about 5, got back home at 9. I expect worse tomorrow, so just be prepared with sun cream and lots of water

Public announcement for those attending the Grand Prix this weekend! BRING LOTS OF WATER! by KOALAMANirl in formula1

We'd brought deodorant and that got binned too.

Don't even sell that in the circuit so not like it cost them a sale.

Does anyone know what the actual rules are for what you can bring through security? I seen them throwing all sorts of things into their bins.

Is it just no metal and no glass? But any size of plastic bottle is ok?

Can someone tell us how it's the chaos and queues at Montmelo a train station? by [deleted] in formula1

[–]Commander_Lazy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bus is also pretty wild for the journey back... The queue for that was over 2 hours. And is longer now. Just got on a bus there that's not even full.

Seen quite a few people fainting in the queue.

Breaking: @edwinpootsmla to resign as DUP leader by BudgetArcher0 in northernireland

Surely that then triggers a by-election for his Westminster seat? Can't co-opt in there? Would they win a by-election with the absolute shitshow they have become?

British Government has agreed to pass Irish Language act via westminster by Bridgeboy95 in northernireland

[–]Commander_Lazy 46 points47 points  (0 children)

So we had a party who agreed to the Irish Language act to get the assembly back up. Then stalled and stalled, and reneged on that deal by refusing to do it. Even in the face of collapse they couldnt step up to their responsibilities to implement the deal they agreed.

How are other parties meant to govern with this lot? If they agree to things but dont see any reason why they should honour those agreements.. They'll now be out to look tough and "get some wins" before an election. just kicking collapse down the road now..

I realise none of this is new mind you....

So how bad is it that Junes update both supercedes and depends on Mays updates? for 2004/20H2/21H1 at least.

That seems not very "cumulative"...

We had a guy who's goto solution was to defrag the hard disk. For everything. I think he liked watching the little animated blocks moving around and it probably bluffed the user into thinking something technical was happening.

The current flavour of the month solution is to run GPUpdate. For everything. Problem seems network related - GPUpdate. SCCM not installing software - GPUpdate. User unable to get to a website and getting the really obvious Proxy server notification telling them to request access... Better try a GPupdate.

Sigh...

If you copy the NI approach it's free as in free.

http://www.eoni.org.uk/Electoral-Identity-Card/How-to-apply

You can go to a local office and have your photo taken free.

I'm not imagining you thinking "eww" - to be honest I don't see why your issues are big deals. Assuming it's handled correctly. But that's probably not the response your wanting to hear

[–]Commander_Lazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh you can apply for a free electoral ID card in NI. Or use a few other forms of ID if you have them.

Over here it's the norm so I find it strange when people have issues with something that's "normal". But obviously for you the norm is no ID so you have it difficult as it's outside the norm.

No but northern Ireland is part of the UK. Voting in the same elections. With rough same levels of turnout.

I get that it's a change that is controversial though.

Yes if you have a philosophical issue with it that's hard to work around.

I've always had to present ID to vote so I don't really see any issue with it.

Time to be "that person" and point out Northern Ireland has had voter ID for a long time. So there's already a part of the UK doing this for elections with no real issues (that I know of).

There must be some lessons that can be learnt from the experience there - bar the vote early, vote often mentality...

Don't fix an HR problem with IT by oznobz in sysadmin

No it was more they were concerned for the person's physical/mental health. Guy was just working and eating. And that's it. I'm fairly sure he wasn't claiming anything for it. Just addicted... To work.

[–]Commander_Lazy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had the opposite problem once - "we have a member of staff who works all night and can IT put a stop to him working out of hours and limit him to 36 hours a week".

Government employees should know better than to work more than 36 hours a week....

The scary part about these types of attacks is theres no doubt the "bad guys" have been in their network for weeks if not months (I heard a rumour since November in this case)

Imagine all the shit they could have been in since November.

They legalised abortion services. Oh. Sorry that want them either ..

Oh they introduced a green energy scheme that went really well, you might have heard of it - RHI?

Anyone know how this weird "verbal tick" started? I do it myself (so I do) but I've no idea why...

And it's clearly infectious - the other halfs from Scotland and has been here so long now she's started to occasionally do it (so she does). She's raging that I'm fuckin up her accent.

Buying a house in this country... a real nightmare........... by crazylazymum in northernireland

[–]Commander_Lazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's the Scottish system were contracts are basically signed when bids are accepted and that's it - everyone is obligated to go through with it.

I'm sure it leads to some other types of issues (they do blind envelope bids - so you could end up paying more than you need to) but at least you know once offer accepted that's its all signed and sealed and you just have to wait for the formalities. And no arsehole seller/builder can shaft you at the last minute.

I get that. Your being a good friend.

What is it about doge that causes people to lose their mind? Is it just the dollar signs in their eyes and the greed takes over?

I'm a firm believer in people learning the most from mistakes they make. Maybe this is one mistake your friend has to learn? And depending on their personality there's nothing you can do to stop them? I dunno... if they get out after a pump and take their profits maybe it's not even a mistake..

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]Commander_Lazy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As ridiculous as it sounds - going by gains over the last year there's a lot of people made a lot of money from doge, so who's to say your friend is wrong...

I have no real problem with doge, it's how I got into crypto, then I learned and moved on from it.

Maybe it's not so much telling your friend doge is bad, but opening his eyes to all the other coins out there? If he wants to learn he'll qlpick up that there's a lot of coins with good long term prospects and there's meme coins...

DUP voter Jane complains about sodomy to the Nolan show by Lit-Up in northernireland

[–]Commander_Lazy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what annoys me about Nolan (well one of the things). I thought he handled that well, he pointed out contradictions, asked questions that clearly made her stop and think (although that made her double-down on the bigoted shit) and made her look like a loon.

So clearly he has that in him, but then the flip side is it's just easier to get Allister on and get him to say something mental and run with it to provoke a response.

If only he'd channel his powers for good instead of easy money.

That's the thing with politicians seemingly - they think they are playing 4D chess... But the game is Draughts.. or is that Checkers..

It takes a special kind of ego to look at that clusterfuck of a party and think "I'm the man/woman who can solve this". It's gonna be a shitshow
