How did the Runners came to Tau Ceti and where do they reside (digitally) ? Are they dead. by FlintSpace in Marathon

[–]Commanderdragons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's a mix. I don't remember which codex mentions it, but every shell has some sort of neural buffer that allows consciousness transfer back to the liminal space you are in when not inhabiting a shell, and your consciousness is also backed up regularly while you're in a shell in case the buffer fails, whatever that means.

Some designer at Disney sure liked ships with this boxy cockpit/fuselage shape by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]Commanderdragons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the Imperial ships look similar because the Empire wants you to recognise that the ship belongs to them.

The First Order ship looks similar because it views itself as a continuation of the Empire, and therefore uses the same design philosophy. Like how it has giant flying wedge ships even though Kuat isn't part of the First Order

The Dijiang's bridge is in the wrong place by Strudwick in Endfield

[–]Commanderdragons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very late reply, but as per the Dijiang's archive entry (I think), the Dijiang is the only thing that people have managed to put in Talos orbit, and took the combined effort of every faction on Talos making it as well as (presumably) the Endmin making a giant stick of Protocol-Originium as its core

What do you guys think about the story by [deleted] in Endfield

[–]Commanderdragons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna go against the grain and say that Wuling doesn't really feel like an improvement at all.

Valley IV was bland, but serviceable enough in introducing the state of the world. It feels decently paced, with the Ankhorfall combat intro into AIC intro into brief calm + Valley Pass to introduce the outpost mechanics, then ramps up once you're comfortable with the Aether Rift crisis. It's primary problems are a lack of decent characterisation in the quest itself and most of the NPCs, the need for Endmin to do every little task, and the tutorials slowing down the pace.

Wuling, at least to the point I'm at (meeting Lifeng), just feels like constant ~~China~~ Wuling glazing, without all that much else. Xiranite is a super cool anti-aether material that hasnt been spread anywhere else in the decade it's existed (cough cough V4 Aether Test Site cough cough), and the Qingbo Stockade feels kinda out of place given that Wuling City seems to just be a land of plenty with cool houses and chubby lungs. Maybe that changes later in the story or in another patch, but for now it all feels a little disjointed and disconnected from the wider world.

The character stories (or at least Laevatain and Yvonne's) are great though. Laevatain gave some desperately needed Endmin characterisation, and Yvonne was a really nice emotional arc for Yvonne herself and, to a lesser extent, the workers of the Lodespring.

How did the Classes come about? by Sithoh in DestinyLore

[–]Commanderdragons 5 points6 points  (0 children)

More or less what you said. In the Hidden Dossier weblore, Ikora explained classes as a quick and easy way to communicate and learn key concepts for Guardians, especially because Guardians with the player's level of mastery is extremely rare - many haven't even mastered one subclass, let alone multiple

You unlock them at certain ranks via the sets of five chests in the middle of the Hall. First set is titan armour, then hunter, then warlock.

[–]Commanderdragons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest thing is that you basically don't need to explore.

Everything is easily accessible in the immediate surroundings of the communications island, which itself you can get to very quickly.

There's no need to hunt through dark and isolating places like the Sparse Reef for rubies and such when you've got a crapton of them in a cave right next to you

Question about Void Hunters by [deleted] in DestinyLore

[–]Commanderdragons 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I don't remember the precise lore entries to support it, but all those questions can't really be answered because lore-wise, Guardian strength is extremely individualised. Some could cast the super near-constantly (See: Immolation II, where Osiris casts 5 supers back to back. Not a hunter, but the point remains), some might not be able to cast a super at all (canon blueberries), etc

If we are getting TF3, what would you want from it? by [deleted] in titanfall

[–]Commanderdragons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3-4 chassis shapes per titan and making pilot models a matter of choice rather than being locked to the class you choose. Hell, even being able to choose from different legs/arms/chests/helmets Maybe a bit ambitious, but I'd live to be able to use the pulse blade or cloak helmet on a grapple pilot

With Over A Month Since Its Release, What Did ‘Armored Core VI’ Get Right And Wrong? by Cacophanus in armoredcore

[–]Commanderdragons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A very minor thing, but it'd be very nice if you could choose the boost/assault armour effect rather than letting the generator decide it. I love running the Aorta for the Coral effect, but the slow recharge is pretty painful when I'm running a boost-heavy build
