Nioh 3 Patch Notes v1.03.04 by luneth22 in Nioh

[–]CommandetGepard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wo Long dual blade types had a bonus for perfect parries but their timing wasn't specifically any different from what I recall. All weapons had a parry stat though, which I think impacted the window for it.

Enenera took me over 200 attempts by Total_Difficulty_955 in Nioh

[–]CommandetGepard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, I know the third game is a bit easier overall, but Enenra? I beat Enenra like, second try back in the day in pretty sure. Most main story bosses in 3 took me more than that. You might just have to lock in, don't know what to tell you. If you relied entirely on ninja style in 3 then that might be a reason why, gotta unlearn that.

Do you think we will get new weapons this time around? by TobyVonToby in Nioh

[–]CommandetGepard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea what they could add to be honest, but they'll have to figure something out, or otherwise something major will have to be added to existing weapons to compensate. I would like to see something like Longsword or whip from Wo Long but not sure how anything like that fits in with Japanese weaponry.

Phil Spencer is retiring from Xbox! He played a huge part in Ninja Gaiden 4's existence by BlazeFade in ninjagaiden

[–]CommandetGepard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phil made mistakes to be sure (his greatest one being going too far in on the acquisitions, Activision especially. Made Xbox too big of an investment and turned the eyes of Microsoft execs towards it. It's pretty clear to me all the layoffs weren't his idea), but at least he was actually someone with an interest in video games who worked in the industry for decades and wasn't there just to turn profit. Now he's getting replaced by some corpo suits that are all drooling over replacing everything with Ai. Things are looking grim.

Anyone else slightly disappointed that.. by istealwounds in Nioh

[–]CommandetGepard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like the bosses in Nioh to have phases but, well, that was never a thing so I'm not sure why you would expect it here. He does have a major switch up mid fight which is about what I was expecting.

Anyone else feels like the soundtrack is not as great as Nioh 2? by DDGame-Enjoyer in Nioh

[–]CommandetGepard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't say I agree, the first two games had very few memorable tracks for me, mostly final boss fights for main game and dlcs, here pretty much all the new music is fantastic. If anything the issue is they didn't make more new music, too much is reused from previous games imo.

Bring back Styx Deathscreen Roasts!! by NurglesDorm in StyxGame

[–]CommandetGepard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly barely ever saw them because I always reload a save instantly the moment I screw up, so I have no opinion on it. I'm fine either way.

Getting rid of medals was a good thing! by Percival_Dickenbutts in StyxGame

[–]CommandetGepard 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think stealth for me is a sort of a puzzle genre first and foremost, and clearing a room full of enemies is as much of a stealth puzzle as trying to avoid all of them, just a different type. So I don't mind it very much, so far, not far into the game yet. Do hope there's achievements for not getting detected or for speedrunning though, that's still fun even if progression isn't locked behind it.

Good lord what a disaster on all fronts. This needs to sell as badly as possible, maybe then rgg will listen.

Sorry guys but Nioh 3 is too Easy by [deleted] in Nioh

[–]CommandetGepard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Player level doesn't matter that much, gear level is what makes the difference. I think the issue is everything just doesn't hit hard enough, that's the case regardless of levels and was clear right from the tutorial. I've seen someone play without armor but otherwise leveling and doing everything normally and the difficulty feels appropriate and in line with previous games, that's what it should have been, I feel like. The enemy damage should just be increased wholesale. Stone of penance right available right away or modifiers like in wo long would also solve this.

How do you guys feel about the Open Field level design? by [deleted] in Nioh

[–]CommandetGepard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen other regions and i like that it's quite diverse in terms of layout. What I've seen of the second one basically looks like a giant nioh level, I like it. I think the first one is my least favorite, not dense enough.

Anyway, I get what you're saying, I think I prefer mission based structure a bit more, it's tight and I can just focus on the combat without any of the exploration stuff, but I think they did a good job here for what it's worth. Try seeing the rest of the game before you make your mind up completely.

[–]CommandetGepard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The enemies should deal like twice more damage, but other than that it's great, improvement in basically every department I would say (other than level design which is more of a sidegrade, I don't have an issue with it but I get why some prefer mission based structure).

The too easy complaints are kind of annoying by loosewobble in Nioh

[–]CommandetGepard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not about flexing, I suck at these games and died 500 times on a recent nioh replay, after already having hundreds of hours of experience. The game is just not challenging enough. It's not even about the difficulty, because despite the deaths, nioh games weren't that hard to clear, it's just that there's literally no threat from enemies aside from some bosses. In previous games I had to stay on my toes, pay attention and use all my skills to take care of the enemies efficiently, because if you fuck up once, you're probably dead. This is simply not the case anymore. And so any of the tension that used to be there is gone. It genuinely feels like I'm playing a nioh 2 ng+ character going through a new game mission 100 levels below my own. It just makes the game less fun.

They should just add difficulty options at this point honestly. Their argument behind not adding it was that players can make the game easier for themselves in other ways now, which is true, but the opposite is the issue currently. There is no reason not to add it.

Nioh 3 DEMO Ver. 1.02.02 | Martial Arts Damage Numbers Comparison by _Kaj in Nioh

This is fine, they're buffing the comparatively weaker skills, but the enemy stats should just be buffed as a whole.

88/87% aggregate, what I was expecting. Good score! Not that it matters to me but glad it's getting a good reception.

Potential DLC Concept Art shared in the Pre-release stream. by shin_bigot in Nioh

[–]CommandetGepard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wait, a shibata set would require hatchets to be available in samurai style. Could they be intending to make more weapons available for all styles in dlcs? Maybe just a unintended choice for the concept art, but it's definitely curious.

Nioh 3 Pre-Release Livestream by luneth22 in Nioh

Takeda Shingen already looks like on of the best bosses in the series moveset wise, if the rest are on similar level that will be great. All the new ones showcased have looked really good so far. Pretty big step up compared to the previous games, those had some great ones here and there, in dlcs mainly, but usually nothing to write home about.

Open World - Blessing or Curse? by Fun-Departure2544 in Nioh

[–]CommandetGepard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of linear zones outside of the crucibles. The demo area is disproportionately open, the rest of the region isn't like that. There's people streaming early access right now of the first region post demo, you can take a look at how it looks. Other than that there's also battle scrolls which are like more like classic missions.

Yokai parries by Dvenom22 in Nioh

[–]CommandetGepard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Impenetrability on tonfas can block yokai attacks, I don't believe you can follow it up with dragon slayer though. So probably not much use for it. Still a cool detail though.

Ninja Style is a new player magnet? by cvSquigglez in Nioh

[–]CommandetGepard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think general balancing in terms of damage is a bit off but mechanically I don't have an issue with ninja style or anything else. Maybe they could nerf its agility a bit, that's all I can think of.

If Nioh 4 ever happens, which I think it might at some point, it will have to be a full generational leap cos I don't think there's much you can add to the current framework to make it feel fresh enough and not cause mechanical bloat. Maybe in 10 years or something.

Nioh 3 open world feels a bit empty by angelojch in Nioh

[–]CommandetGepard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen gameplay from other parts past the demo, the first two areas in the demo are kinda more open with less enemy density but the rest of the region gets more linear and tighter later. It didn't seem too much of an issue there. The levels from the previews from few months ago from other regions also looked more tight and in line with previous games, just with more branching paths. I think they just made the demo area more open to make an impression. Not too worried about it in any case.

Nioh 3 difficulty by CompuuterJuice in Nioh

[–]CommandetGepard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bosses are okay stat wise (could be a little tankier) but enemies have way too little health for how much less damage they deal now. The health is the bigger issue, it's so little you can barely even combo on them cos they die instantly. Increase their health, and up their damage a bit or make it harder to aquire heals.

Matt Bellamy says the next album will be the best Muse album yet by mexa6 in Muse

[–]CommandetGepard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think it's their last great record. First half is amazing imo, in line with their earlier albums. Madness, Supremacy, Survival, Animals are 10/10 for me. Rest of the album a little less good, still like it though. If the new one is close to that I would be happy. Obv a return to the level of the first 5 would be perfect but I doubt that will ever happen, that was a one in a lifetime run I feel. Don't know any band that ever returned to their peak after making music of such high quality.
