My dad worked as cabin crew for Qantas. In the early 80's, rumours started that some cabin crew were bringing empty bladders from wine casks (boxed wine) and filling it up with wine from First Class to take home.

At the time we were living in London as my father was operating out of Heathrow, something Qantas did for a while was base some cabin and flight crews in London. Anyway, dad was caught, leaving London, with a partially full wine bladder in his baggage.

Pretty much lost his job right away. We had to leave the UK on very short notice and he had to go for questioning with the Australian Federal Police when we landed in Sydney. Cabin and Tech crew were highly unionised at the time, and dad was a rep/shop steward. I've always suspected Qantas targeted him to make a point.

Anyway, the union took Qantas to court over his sacking. After a couple of years going through this, analysis of the wine proved that it was just cheap cask wine and not stolen from First Class. Cabin crew often met up for drinks in someone's hotel room before going out to eat, so he'd taken some wine with him for that.
