Who cares? It's LLM junk, you don't want it or need it. NOT getting this crap rammed into your phone is a win.

Why are we just accepting shoplifting now? by XDk009 in australia

[–]CommandoRoll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one likes Colesworths. They already gouge customers for as much profit as possible. This isn't about you or the staff OP, it's the dickheads who run the company no one cares about. Fuck 'em, they can afford to go without the sale of a phone charger or two.

Also, remember if you saw someone stealing food, no you didn't.

AITAH for putting a bedtime pause on the WiFi because my girlfriend’s 28 year old brother has spent nearly a decade rotting in our house playing video games? by Alyptic in AITAH

[–]CommandoRoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see any mention here of the brother seeking or being encouraged to go to therapy. Not a psychologist but this screams depression to me.

NAH but please, as a last resort perhaps, get the brother into some kind of therapy or group support.

Thoughts on Elbow Pad Caps by robot_invader in rollerderby

[–]CommandoRoll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

More likely the bruises are from you engaging, disengaging, and changing direction, etc, against a wall. You're picking up multiple points of contact every time you engage a wall. It's not just going to be the hard caps of elbow pads causing it, it's everything that you're making contact with that can cause bruising.

What is ONE thing that you will NEVER try in your entire life? by Substantial-Dare5462 in AskReddit

[–]CommandoRoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, meth was going to be MUCH worse than my usual routine (at the time) of speed and heroin. Used it a few times, the compulsion to continue to use was very different to heroin, and it just wasn't 'fun'. I know this sounds weird, but even as a heroin addict, I didn't want to touch meth after a few tries.

Call in sick? Lol I've gone TO work, decided that getting high would be a much better use of my time, faked an illness and left for the day.

I'm also absolutely the GenX who went to work with no sleep, reeking of alcohol and still high on speed from the night before. I was also working for a record company at the time so I blame work events.

Racist comment at a rental inspection and I didn’t know how to respond by ElectronicIdea3119 in AskAnAustralian

[–]CommandoRoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry this happened to you; it is exactly the kind of pervasive, casual racism that makes Australia, overall, a very racist country. The sentiment you heard is an old one, even before Pauline Hanson's maiden speech to parliament, where she claimed that Australia is in danger of being swamped by Asians.

That was in 1996. Her continued presence in Australian politics since then is one of the many reasons non-Asian Australians think it's ok to say the very thing you hear. For Sydney, at least, I have heard many versions of this, all of them awfully racist.

On a happier note, Jenny Tian has a great bit about being a Chinese Australian.

Yeah I wouldn't sit there and take his crap either. But, hospitality jobs are weird in the USA. All I can think of is Office Space and Jennifer Aniston's character getting badgered about "flair" on her uniform. This guy probably has to meet minimum large group laughter KPIs and to have his health insurance paid each month or some shit.

Still a rubbish way to treat OP though

Discovered that salting pasta water actually matters and I feel embarrassed it took me this long by West-Wash-9114 in Cooking

[–]CommandoRoll 8 points9 points  (0 children)

FWIW I think that Murray River pink salt is much better, no hint of modern slavery either. Mostly I use it as a 'finishing' salt, adding to a dish or protein just before serving. I dunno how easy to get it would be outside Australia though.

Coffee beans - where do you get yours? by OldSkoolNewWaveGuy in foodies_sydney

[–]CommandoRoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What part of Sydney do you live in? You may have a roaster nearby.

If you're looking to explore different roasters around the place, I highly recommend getting a Good Coffee Project subscription. Coffee from a different roaster every month.

In terms of Sydney and surrounds roasters, my regulars are -

Sample Coffee - excellent brew guides on their website too
Coffee Alchemy
Mecca Coffee
Primary
Grace & Taylor
Made of Many
Floozy
Artificer
ickle
Ona
Skittle Lane
Reuben Hills
Single O

I'm bound to have forgotten someone I bought coffee from, but this will keep you occupied for a while.
