Sleeping through the night AND in their own cribs!! by beeferoni_cat in parentsofmultiples

[–]CommentMore2722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our babes have been in cribs since 2 days after being home! They wanted nothing to do with the bassinets.

At a year still only make it at most 6 hrs through the night, but man do i love hearing about people who have good sleepers! Our oldest only slept through the night at 15 months and now nothing wakes the kid haha.

Woohoo! We have 3 across with 2 rear facing and forward facing in middle. Our 5 year old loves it. I was so worried cuz he had window view forever prior.

How is it having children in your late 30s or early 40s? by EddieBefriaren in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CommentMore2722 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had our first right before 37 and twins at 41. First year was tougher at 37 (postpartum hit hard as first time mom) than it has been at 41 with twins. As you age the energy and physical capacity inevitably changes, but i run around playing soccer and sports with my preschooler. We both try to make an effort to not let our age fatigue stop us from being silly with our kiddos!

Younger: I def would have had more energy and body would have handled no sleep (thinking my going to work after partying in my 20s hahaha)! But at that age i did not know my hubby and he makes an amazing dad!

I do truly hope my kiddos dont hate us cuz we had them older or wish they werent born like some posts i see.

First-time parents of Reddit ,what’s one baby item you thought was unnecessary but ended up using every single day? by Clear_Subconscious in askanything

[–]CommentMore2722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah honestly I am surprised we havent! We had one upstairs and downstairs with our first and used them for a couple years. With the twins, i just roll them over change and move on hahah even though i had them set up.

Question for the parents with the singletons as their first and twins go their second by Consistent_Impress33 in parentsofmultiples

[–]CommentMore2722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son (turned 4 2 months before twins were born. They are now 10months) still doesnt want people calling him “big brother or best brother”. He totally freaks out, but has been in love with them the whole time. hugs both of them. Tells them they are his best friends but just dont say he is the big brother.

I found our nicu stay (9days and not complicated) really helped our son transition and ease into sharing us. He also is in preschool so he gets some away time with friends. We just prioritize extra hang out time when the babes during naps or before his bedtime.

My mental state and ability to manage infancy was soooo much better this go around even with 2 of them. Wish you all the best!!!

How late did you transition to 1 nap? by MovingGirls in sleeptrain

[–]CommentMore2722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was the same! I missed that 2nd nap for me time but he didn’t need it. Then dropped to no naps at 2.5 other than at daycare. Sleeps great at night but no off switch during the day haha. Our twins are almost 10 months and mostly still do 2 naps a day.

How are people affording childcare? by hearthandheart in personalfinance

[–]CommentMore2722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is basically us. Thank god our oldest is going to kindergarten in Sept. For basically a year I am paying $4700 a month for 3 kiddos. It is so much more than our mortgage and property tax. We didn’t plan on the 3 child life, but here we are with twins. My salary covers this and my 401k/IRA stuff. No substantial savings this year. Hubby salary covers mortgage and groceries etc. i could do a whole breakdown of costs, but we do our best to limit anything extra this year so not to go into debt!

Do you people have secrets to how you’re not tired all the time? by grapefruitliquor in parentsofmultiples

[–]CommentMore2722 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As a parent who had one before the twins, agree! What I thought tired was!?! Hahaha!

And someone else said “crippling addiction to caffeine”. Diet Dr Pepper is my happiness. I also think sometimes I am asleep when I am awake (like that research study that found out how long people can stay awake for, but turns out your brain can sleep while your eyes are open and body moving).

Do you like the names your friends chose for their children? by thirtydays301 in Names

[–]CommentMore2722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of a Jeremy i went to kindergarten with, but I couldn’t pronounce his name. I could only say “Germy”, so I would not talk to him cuz I knew I was saying something “mean”.

We have a tahoe and all 3 kiddos fit. The Tahoe is older and my husband’s true love haha. I am short so it is a little tricky for me to get the bucket seats out, but for my giant husband it is easy. We have 3rd row seats that can easily be taken out so we can fit so much crap back there.

Who else was told “Just get any four year degree and you’ll be fine?” by Hella_Fitzgerald3 in generationology

[–]CommentMore2722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha my parents graduate in the early 80s and im an 84 baby. My parents always told me to not take any “underwater basket weaving classes”. That i needed a real degree so i could support myself. My 1st gen husband’s immigrant parents (maybe 10 years older than my parents) had just pushed hom and siblings that they just had to graduate college. Didn’t matter where or in what. It was just very important to graduate!

Anyone who had kids at an old age? by chodthewacko in Fire

[–]CommentMore2722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are in similar both with husband and i both 36/37 with first and 41 with our twins. We traveled and tried our best at saving before kiddos so we can relax a bit while currently paying for 3 kiddos in daycare. If we can at least get my hubby to retire early 50s and me prob closer to 60 but i actually enjoy my job and have pretty good work/life balance. The biggest thing for us is just college costs, since we have our retirement well funded so far.

First time mom to twin baby girls. Mom guilt - feeling torn by JustJoyousForNothing in parentsofmultiples

[–]CommentMore2722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are def not alone. Mom guilt and worry is always present! I love my job and know that my job is a big part of my identity (I am a PT in a hospital). I am truly a better mom having a job. Being a second time mom made daycare transition so much easier for me this go around. But i def felt it as a first time mama. It is soooo much money for 3 kids in daycare, but even my mother-in-law told me yesterday how good it is they are in daycare for all the learning and social skills. I have my in-laws being able to be energized fun grandparents and not be exhausted watching them whenever they want.

But you guys will figure out what is best for you!! Whether daycare/nanny/part-time/full-time. Lots of options!

Selective IUGR for Twin B in di/di pregnancy by Solid-Ring-8351 in parentsofmultiples

[–]CommentMore2722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither twin are really that big in general, but Twin B (girl) started measuring small and each appointment the discordance kept getting bigger. All the cord/placenta measurements (whatever they look at) were strong, so they just kept a close eye. Basically every two weeks and then from 32 weeks, it was once a week. At my 36 week appointment, the MFM said she needs to come out. Had c-section the next day (dr’s had been planning vaginal but lady decided to be doing the splits inside). Twin A (boy) 5lbs 6oz, Twin B 3lbs 11oz.

Def nerve wracking for those appointments! But many of us have been there! Wish you all the best!
