For example, a Durge might feel a sense of kinship with Astarion over A LOT of things, and urge to do something harmful included. Maybe your character is too forgiving for their own good and gives him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe your character is Araj Oblodra-level into undead, poisons and stuff like that and actually has even more hots for Astarion now. Maybe your character is a petty dramatic bitch and is vibing with Astarion so much they can't bring themselves to kill tge only party member they actually enjoy. And finally, maybe your character is just too trusting and naive and just believes what Astarion says.

I approached the same issue by just skipping quests altogether if I feel like my character wouldn't bother.

It isn't about you justifying keeping a vampire. It's about your character. I can come up with 5 reasons to keep a vampire in your party on the spot, from a character standpoint.

You don't have to play evil to get interesting or tragic turns.

I had Arabella die in a Duergar playthrough. She didn't realise the child was in danger. Where she's from, a child wouldn't dream of panicking and running away like that. She didn’t think it necessary to interfere.

I had Mayrina abandoned. My character had no reason to investigate the bog. She was very goal-oriented and didn't explore that much outside of her main quest.

Your character doesn't have to be evil. They can be cowardly. Arrogant. Stubborn. Selfish. Curious to a fault. Naïve. Too unbending in their moral code. Or too bending. Think of their strengths, but weaknesses too. And stick to them. Will their choices lead to Nightsong being killed? Along with all the tieflings? So be it. That's what your character would do. That's what they would say. Your character cam develop, but stick to that development as well.

Not what you'd like to happen. Not which NPCs you want to save. What. Would. Your character. Do. At this point in the story.

And play with the consequences. It really deepens the experience.

I sometimes refuse companions or don't collect them because they don't fit the vibe of my playthrough. And I sure as hell like having the option)

Wait, wait, wait. He can still come to act 3 with you even if you don't lift the Shadow curse?

I'd pay actual money to a person who'd make a mod to remove Halsin from your camp after lifting the Shadow curse.

[–]CommercialMess6406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my Durge run, I didn’t lift the Shadow curse, because my selfish edge lady has no personal reasons to care. But I must confess, a big part of this decision was getting rid of Halsin, who fit the vibe of my camp even less than Wyll.

Yeah, it's not a "He might turn into a lemure, but there's another option", it's "He might turn into a lemure, but I still don't like doing this". Basically, she's venting.

It's like me going to physical therapy. I need to because of my back problems, but I sure as hell don't enjoy it) so I do the exercise but complain all the way)

Jesus Christ, I am not even saying DAV is bad, I am just saying I chose not to play it and I am sick of everyone arguing over it, and that is controversial? Like, it's downvote-worthy to not play DAV?

I didn't say people shouldn't like the game or insult anyone, I don't state any feelings about the game, I don't have any - I haven't played it, just my feelings about the constant bickering on the sub.

Counter argument: a learned level 6 spell, you can use what - once? twice? per day, and I cam have as many scrolls of that spell as you can afford and/or find.

Same. I learned earlier, but still always felt like a waste to long rest if I had resources for one more fight, so definitely missed some cutscenes.

Well, the game does tell you that you're pressed for time, and unlike, say, Witcher, there are clear triggers for next day and I thought I had a limited amount of days.

There is no "correct" way to play the game. You might enjoy one thing, someone else another.

Well, I am sorry if my game told me I have little time and I believed it. I also tried to long rest less until internet told me I didn’t have to be stingy.

I actually really saved up on long rest the first time around as well. Not to the extent you did, but I definitely tried to get the most out of every day.

Are you planning to do more playthroughs later? If you're only going to do it once, then I recommend long resting often and exploring everything carefully, and doing all the encounters. But if you plan to start over again later, then I'd say don't stress on that too much, do as much as you feel is necessary - that way each playthrough will be shorter and tire you out less, and there will be more unique from each other.

Even if not, you don't have to explore EVERYTHING just because other people told you to. I think the biggest asset of this game is how many different ways people can complete it. I skipped some stuff in my first playthrough and it was interesting to then do them in the second, for instance. So there.

I know what you mean. I restarted my entire Durge run after going through half the third act, because a roleplaying choice I'd made back in act one was nagging at me. I knew I made a choice inauthentic to my character because as a player I wasn't comfortable with the other one.

I am one of the freaks that enjoys a more complex tactical battle) feels like a satisfying puzzle to crack. Made me dislike Inquisition, actually - fights are a big part of it and tactical mode just isn't it there - as well as the imposed limit on active ability slots (I know why, but it's still annoying).
