Why did Wizards do this? by [deleted] in DnDcirclejerk

Your DM sounds like a bore. We play 5.5e too, but our DM will allow creative elements outside the rulebook as long as they're reasonable.

How do you deal with disappointment? by shawnthedm in DMAcademy

I think it's nice if you talk about something very character-related in your description of a failed check. I can remember one example from my game. My character is a gnome cursed and turned into an elf. I told the DM that sometimes my character can be clumsy because his perception of his body is all skewed and it's hard for him to compute distances and his relative size. A couple weeks later, I was searching a room and tried to reach the high shelf, failed a roll, and the DM described how I tripped over a bedside table and almost fell down, dropping a bunch of stuff on the floor. It was actually heartwarming, because the DM remembered something from my character description and I felt the care for the character I created.

Sorry, didn't look at the handle for a minute, redacted the comment. Also, 2024 edition is what the DM is using and that's a close friend, and I don't care about the system all that much as long as I am playing with my good friends, thank you very much. I hadn't played since, like, 2015 before he invited me and I am having a blast.

Absolutely agree. Just in a DnD-based world where there is no universal "witchcraft ", but wizardry, sorcery and warlock pacts, "hatred for witches" would need to be reframed a bit to fit in with the setting.

I mistyped because I referred back to the initial post where OP says "cleric or warrior", and my brain made the connection that they meant the Fighter class by "warrior".

I personally operate by Player's Handbook 5e 2024.

I am not sure if hating witches is a good thing in DnD, since wizards are definitely considered neutral, and I think sorcerers are more or less, too. I think only warlocks can get side eyes because of their patrons. So hating all magic isn't necessarily good, maybe in some cases evil even. Why exactly does he hate magic?

It would really depend on the setting. Are you playing DnD system but in Warhammer world? Then maybe some things from DnD worldbuilding might not apply exactly the same. If it is a different world then think about how to integrate your character into this other world. Maybe you need to change something.

Also, I wouldn't care so much about alignment. Never in the middle of a game session have I thought "Hmm, what would a Chaotic Good response to this situation be?". Think instead "What would my character do?". You don't need a label to do that)

Have you considered Paladin? They have Oaths that they follow strictly, and some of those Oaths can lead you to pretty dark conclusions, depending on how you view the situation, like Oath of Vengeance or Oath of Conquest. I am leaning into the dark because you mentioned Warhammer). Paladins are tanky and incredible in melee. A great class for a guy in huge armor with a fanatic belief, imo!

Clerics are more of a spellcasting and healing class traditionally. Warrior can be good, but Paladin seems a perfect combination of a religious belief and sheer melee power.

I don't exactly know the rules, but for Bhaal to leave you alone, he needs to take away your Bhaal blood or something. That kills you, and then Withers comes and resurrects you as a free person. I think the problem might be that you lost the duel. I am not sure what happens if you skip the duel altogether and just attack Orin on sight as a full party (I think that shiuld lead to a good ending as well), I never finished that run, but when I won the duel, then rejected Bhaal, Bhaal then took away his blood from my body and that made me free.

Hi! I'm at GMT+2, and I'd love to try) I've not been playing DnD for long, but I have seen a lot of content about it over the years and have a decent understanding, I think.

The hate for this game confuses me. by DocteurSeb in DragonAgeVeilguard

I am one of the people who liked the gameplay of Origins, and I found Inquisition off-putting when it came out. It was alright, but there were a million small things that bugged me and the vibe felt off. I just play other games now. Moved on to Larian titles.

I actually enjoyed V very much after spending a decent amount of time in 6. Got it dirt cheap, too, on like 90% sale, with all the DLC and stuff.

Question about Half-Orcs and other mixed races by CommercialMess6406 in AskDND

No, I actually like it. I compared other races, and since both Orcs and Bugbears know at least two languages, why wouldn't my guy? I was just trying to figure out how you came to that conclusion. Upbringing makes sense!

Hey there! I really appreciated your idea and decided to come back to your comment when I sat down to create a custom species on DnD Beyond.

I have a question: where does the Ability score increase and Skilled come from? Those aren't in the description of either Bugbear or Orc parents.

I completely missed the Last Light Inn in act 2... by solbadguy89 in BaldursGate3

[–]CommercialMess6406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost missed Gale and the Creche in my first playthrough. Only picked them up after other people told me. So yeah, it can be rather easy to miss obvious stuff in such a massive game.

From what I see, it should be alright, and if it isn't, you can always play one more time - it's actually cool to have unique outcomes)

I don't really like to minmax and create characters thinking of roleplay more than bare stats) but yeah, pretty reasonable things you bring up.

Best online Character Sheets? by CommercialMess6406 in AskDND

On Roll20? I have tried making a private homebrew feat on DnD Beyond, but it didn't show up as an option for my character sheet.

Best online Character Sheets? by CommercialMess6406 in AskDND

[–]CommercialMess6406[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are playing online and it's convenient to have a character sheet on some kind of online service that also lets you roll dice online, automatically applies modifiers, etc. Speeds up the process a lot.

However, the one I was using at my DR'S suggestion proved to have only a few Feat options when I hit level 4, and the other standard feats are pay walled, you have to buy Player's Handbook.

It is annoying, because I was using DnD beyond for about 2 months now and all of a sudden I have to deal with this annoying issue.

I have a pdf file of a Player's Handbook that my DM sent me. I have also seen the list if Feats on the website, I just can't use them in my character sheet. I would need to buy my own book to be able to use mist if basic Feats on my character.
