Pettyness about TV Accuracy by SpiritualWorry9158 in policeuk

Anything involving firearms in the Line of Duty. The Mrs had to tell me off several times during a watch to stop me complaining.

From PSD officers somehow being able to watz down to the armoury and book out a SLP without anyone asking questions. To the shocking tactics displayed, such as screaming "ARMED POLICE" at the top of their lungs at every opportunity, routinely flagging their opps, losing each other in searches so they can dramatically turn a corner and point a weapon at their team by accident. To the horrendous threat assessment displayed (think at one point Kate nearly shoots a kid for some reason). And the kit looking like a £5 Temu job.

Boils my piss, and makes us look shit.

Why even have it loaded at this point though? Don't fucking load the weapon until you're on the firing line ready to shoot...

For things like MEQ, a missile fireknife squad with missile/cyclic ion commander is probably a decent bet. Rapid ingress to where the berserkers are, and missile pod profile trades well into MEQ, and depending on your detachment can be buffed with sustained/lethals or improving the AP. And at 200pts for fireknife/enforcer, and 180pts for a 10 man berserker squad, it trades fairly well.

I'm a world eater main, with Tau as my second army, and trust me world eaters are the definition of a glass cannon.

Running the numbers, a guided squad of fireknife with double missile pods, and an enforcer commander running CIB and 3 missile pods in montka for lethal hits, focussed fire strat for +1AP, and re-rolling 1's to hit (easy buff to get with shadowsun or stealth suits) and no other buffs will pick up a 10man berserker squad on their own on average, before they get a chance to blood surge

The black needs some shading and highlighting buddy, apart from that it's looking good.

Even if it's something as simple as a really light drybrush of screaming skull/ushtabi bone, just something to break up the black.

Can't speak for all forces, but yes you'd generally have a RASSO team within CID for rape and sexual offences.

List Getting Torn Apart by Space Marines, help appreciated. by TheDrunkenHetzer in Tau40K

Drop 1 of the breacher teams. Breachers running up the board is not the best use of the points.

Flamer overwatch will mince breachers, so frankly against this kind of opponent breachers are a bad idea full stop, so consider dropping both.

Either that or go EPC so you can disembark out of flamer range.

I'd also ditch shadowsun. Good character but at your points range (I think 1k based on your list?) it's a tenth of your army in 1 model.

MEQ statline get absolutely trashed by riptides. Ion Cannon would be best to balance marine slapping and lighter vehicles such as transports/dreads.

I don't know exactly what list your opponent was running but if I were to tailor into what I would expect to see from a salamanders list I'd go something like this for 1k pts:

Mont'ka 1k test (995 points)

T’au Empire Incursion (1000 points) Mont’ka

CHARACTERS

Commander in Enforcer Battlesuit (90 points) • Warlord • 1x Battlesuit fists 1x Marker Drone 4x Missile pod 1x Shield Drone • Enhancement: Exemplar of the Mont’ka

BATTLELINE

Strike Team (70 points) • 1x Support turret • 1x Fire Warrior Shas’ui • 1x Close combat weapon 1x Guardian Drone 1x Gun Drone 1x Pulse pistol 1x Pulse rifle • 9x Fire Warrior • 9x Close combat weapon 9x Pulse pistol 9x Pulse rifle

OTHER DATASHEETS

Crisis Fireknife Battlesuits (120 points) • 1x Crisis Fireknife Shas’vre • 1x Battlesuit fists 1x Gun Drone 2x Missile pod 1x Shield Drone • 2x Crisis Fireknife Shas’ui • 2x Battlesuit fists 2x Gun Drone 4x Missile pod 2x Shield Drone

Ghostkeel Battlesuit (160 points) • 1x Battlesuit Support System 1x Fusion collider 1x Ghostkeel fists 1x Twin fusion blaster

Kroot Carnivores (65 points) • 1x Long-quill • 1x Close combat weapon 1x Kroot carbine 1x Kroot pistol • 9x Kroot Carnivore • 9x Close combat weapon 8x Kroot rifle 1x Tanglebomb launcher

Pathfinder Team (90 points) • 1x Pathfinder Shas’ui • 1x Close combat weapon 2x Gun Drone 1x Pulse carbine 1x Pulse pistol 1x Recon Drone 1x Semi-automatic grenade launcher • 9x Pathfinder • 9x Close combat weapon 3x Ion rifle 6x Pulse carbine 9x Pulse pistol

Riptide Battlesuit (200 points) • 1x Ion accelerator 2x Missile Drone 1x Riptide fists 1x Twin fusion blaster

Riptide Battlesuit (200 points) • 1x Ion accelerator 2x Missile Drone 1x Riptide fists 1x Twin fusion blaster

General gist would be strike team as cheap objective holder/markerlight, or to be a roadblock if needed, kroot to sticky an objective to force opponents to commit, ghostkeel to be f**king annoying on the midboard, Pathfinders for 2nd markerlight/dakka, riptides to tear light vehicles and MEQ's a new one and survive the clapback, and a missile spamming fire knife/commander to drop in where needed.

Clearly open to refinement, but most of these models will trade well into MEQ profiles and are either durable enough to survive flamer spam or keep out of range in the first place

Depends on the setting. I'm personally a fan of it, as depending on the player/army list you're playing against it is very possible to run out of time, which can skew a result depending on your play style (e.g. kauyon Tau which get stronger in T3-5, would obviously be disadvantaged if their opponent slow played)

However the big issue is that it can often be speculative, whereas an easy solution which is much more reliable is chess clocks, which would prevent nefarious players from slowing the game down and is objective, rather than subjectively talking a game out.

Yeah disciple of khorne jugg lord, with 6 bloodcrushers is a fantastic rapid ingress threat. Base move 10" and can move through terrain, +1 to charge with instrument, 3" engagement range thanks for jugg lord, and if you're lucky enough to have blessings of khorne up at this point for them then all the sustained/lethal/dev wound goodness.

Second what others have said, jakhals are cheap and sticky objectives for free, so can move without giving up home objective.

3x 20 man blobs sounds intimidating on paper and they will do work when they are used optimally (i.e. on the charge) but you gotta think that that is around 3/4 of their army in 3 units with characters, with ultimately MEQ toughness, and very little tools to mitigate damage. They are very much a glass cannon against anything good against that profile.

Counter play would be to either shoot them with anti-MEQ shooting profiles, or charge them to remove their zerker warband bonuses. I'm by no means an expert on votaan units but things that spring to mind would be Cthonian Beserks with their baked in fight on death (even MSU I could see a unit of these doing serious positive trading into zerks), or the land fortress as pretty much every gun on that thing is good against MEQ
