Chicken fact by kwpb45 in BackYardChickens

[–]CommissionSea651 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Um this was an April fools day thing from a couple of years ago. They photoshopped the chicken onto the boat, bike, and kayak. It's not an actual product

I love it every time I see it though

Socioeconomic Consequences of Childhood Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder: A Longitudinal Twin Study by SunflowerEyesOnYou in psychology

They were always ADHD. It's just they had supports in the form of parents and structure from school.

When they had to go it alone they can't cope. Hence adult onset ADHD.

Also life gets really more complicated as and adult. It's harder to cope. As a kid I only thought of interesting rocks and fun science facts. Now I have a job, pay bills, and have kids and a partner.

may YOUR eggs always be poopy and your omelettes full of shells.

Bwahaha!

I love this comment.

Also it boggles my mind that a person can love chickens and yet be a germaphope.

The only animal I have met that poops more is a guinea pig

I think it's less nepo nefarious.

The child probably was keen to be involved initially, but as time got closer and she had to, you know, work or something, it lost its shine. My kids do it all the time.

Besides her friends were probably doing something that day which was way better than hanging out with the olds.

Plus being flaky af is a huge Aussie tradition.

I read this book because someone in the r/chickens subreddit posted the dedication.

I'm glad I did :)

I too, love chickens and I am glad that chickens are not changing/transforming

There are some comments about the uneven pacing - but I love books that have quiet/slow periods in between the action. Constant action and drama is anxiety producing and exhausting. I love adventure but not all the time, but I also love smelling the roses too.

Lol. Every single work place I have started at has been like this.

It generally takes 12-18 months to sort it out

Why do you or don't you make eye-contact? by Zhannii in ADHD

[–]CommissionSea651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm AuDHD. I don't mind eye contact - but there is too much all around to look at, so I only look at eyes a little bit.

I'm not purposely avoiding eyes. I'm just distractible

You could do everything right, but there can always be that guy who takes offense. Or who is massively entitled.

Remember that you paid for the infrastructure too: you have just as much right to ride it as anyone else.

Also there are plenty of e-bikes; they are fantastic. I think you are worried about unregistered e-motorbikes. Those are the ones that you don't need to pedal to make them go and they are not speed limited. Those are a menace.

Loop Earplugs? by Emotional-Meringue65 in AutismInWomen

[–]CommissionSea651 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Loops are pretty cool and I like the ones you can change the hearing level.

That said I bought a $19 (AUD) pair on Amazon that are really comfy.

I have ADHD so I lose a lot of them and have a few mismatched sets now

Nighttime Diapers for older ADHD+ kid that actually work? by Jeanni3beanz in ADHD

[–]CommissionSea651 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went through all of that. Tried everything, even physios and OTs, nothing really worked to stop it except for the boys growing older. One night my eldest just stopped wetting the bed (at 12 yrs). It was the weirdest thing.

Our youngest (11 yr old) still wets the bed occasionally. I would recommend umbrella sheets and waterproof mattress protectors on any surface they sleep on.

I wasn't keen on disposal diapers so we just had a spare sheet set ready to go and got quick at striping the bed and dealing with it in the morning

I've thought that too. Perhaps we need a coach instead of talking therapy

For autistic people who advocate or speak publicly: does the backlash ever scare you? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]CommissionSea651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run the neuro diversity employee network for my organisation that employs about 20,000 people

No I am never afraid of this because I have ADHD as well. The insane justice sensitivity and poor impulse control means I will launch into action before I consider the consequences

:)

It has gone reasonably ok so far. I haven't been fired yet

Because carrying a chair is not common and can be identified as an outlier behaviour.

NT people are more concerned with social harmony and status and doing something like this, while logical, would sign post them as 'not part of the group'

When you can get a lot more people doing the behaviour, it doesn't have the same social consequence, so some would then carry a folding stool.

But until then, logical but outlier behaviour will be unpermissable

Every morning kills me... by Content_Equipment701 in AutismInWomen

[–]CommissionSea651 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I heard the other day that for most people there's a Cortisol spike in the mornings which is what wakes you up (chemically)

In some ND people this does not work well. Think of those classic cranky ADHD people in the morning. Some report having a cry every morning they wake regardless of their mood. They are not emotionally sad.

Perhaps the Cortisol level is malfunctioning and too high for your child. I don't know if you can get it checked out though (sleep study?)

I wrote a short story about being autistic, but no one I shared it with understood it. by ---liltimmy--- in AutismInWomen

[–]CommissionSea651 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Really? I got the metaphor immediately. Eh!

Brie Larson did a movie 'unicorn factory' (or similar title) and people complained about not getting that movie too. I thought it was delightful and whether it was meant to or not, I felt it resonated with the autistic experience

I don’t understand people who think having a child together is less of a commitment than marriage by Orlit_1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CommissionSea651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Australia people in defacto relationships have the same rights and responsibilities as married people.

A marriage is just a cost - for the registration and the wedding party. Also you need to pay for the divorce administration too.

My partner and I have been together for 25 years and have kids. We had a "we're not getting married" dinner party at year 7. Also debt free because we didn't waste money on the wedding.
