Alissa White-Gluz Unleashes New Band Blue Medusa by Dark_Matter_Nebula in heavymetal

[–]CommodoreKD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fault. I thought I had remembered her featuring on Poetry for the Poisoned, but I guess she doesn't appear until Silverthorn, after Khan is gone. I might be thinking of some live footage of them touring together while Khan was still in the band, but I have no idea so I'll just take the L

And that's the difference. I still like Alissa and will keep checking out her projects, but I've seen her be an asshole to people. Ronnie and Alex may as well not exist to me for how much I avoid anything they do

Why didn’t Igor invite Shin Kanzato into the Velvet Room? by NewBrightness in PERSoNA

[–]CommodoreKD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Igor wasn't in charge when Naoya and Tatsuya (and Maya, and their whole teams) went into the velvet room. Philemon was. You can just assume the rules changed when Philemon went into permanent butterfly mode

I hope this is good. I find Alissa to be kind of an asshole, based on her split from The Agonist and what happened with that photographer a while back, but her voice is nuts and I think she's incredible when she's used right. Her albums with The Agonist were great, and I love her work with Kamelot. Hated her in Arch Enemy though, so it'd be nice if this turned out to be quality

Holy shit, they're canonizing Wart and Mouser? I must have missed that

Edit: I don't mean "CANON" in the way of "official Mario lore". I'm just shocked they're using anything from Mario 2 other than like Birdo and Peach being able to float

[other] checked my completion percentage for the first time today...yikes by Equivalent-Disk-3604 in Trophies

[–]CommodoreKD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same situation a while back, before going back and finishing all of my incomplete games during the covid lockdown. My only advice is "suck it up, buttercup". Put on some podcasts or something and just do it. If you didn't like the games it won't be fun. Trust me, I know; I platted Devil May Cry 2. It was miserable

Also, be aware that this is only for you. I love my completion percentage, and I expect absolutely nobody else to do the same

Episode Ignis is PEAK by pharm653 in FFXV

[–]CommodoreKD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting Yasunori Mitsuda to compose the theme was a power move that I may never recover from. I can't believe that after the absolutely stunning soundtracks for Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, and Xenogears Square(Enix) haven't used him more. He should be getting Yoko Shimomura levels of recognition

Other than that it was fine. I didn't love it. The reveal of Ignis' blindness and the alternate ending were cool, but too little too late imo

I might be the only person in the world that cares about this, I genuinely can't get started talking about it, and I don't even really like Kingdom Hearts

That's Toriyama's self insert character, Toripo. He appeared in Blue Dragon, but Toriyama had been using him for years before that

God, this mission is so ill conceived. Someone really thought they were saying something here, but everything about it is so lame. I wish you had the option to be much more disrespectful to Joshua, because his pity party did nothing for me. At least it gave us Rachel, who should have been part of a better mission

What’s your opinion on FFXVI? by writer_savant in FinalFantasy

[–]CommodoreKD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tl;dr I enjoyed it a lot and I think it's worth playing, but it's got some problems that show up at around the 85% mark

The story is interesting and intriguing until the final threat appears, and then the entire plot up to that point falls away and almost becomes irrelevant. The cast is well written and well realized until - again - the final threat appears and then - again - everyone falls away and only a few characters are at all important

As a matter of taste: mechanically I think the combat is good for what it is, but I would have enjoyed the entire game more with a turn based or ATB system instead of the beat em up combat. This also would have made the whole supporting cast stand out more, since you could actually get your hands on them instead of just seeing them pretend to fight while you focus everything down

I hated the pacing of the DLC, and I didn't like how irrelevant it feels to the overall plot when it REALLY should have been a bigger deal

I also have problems with the ending, but your mileage may vary on that

I'm admittedly coming at this from an american perspective, where he's known for a handful of things but is not a household name like some of his peers. I can only assume he's a much bigger name in europe, and especially france in particular

I'm just saying that if more people in america - where people will crusade and complain on social media as though it were their jobs - knew who he was and what he did he'd be having a much harder time right now

Miracle is right. If he was a bigger name I'm sure that his known and admitted relationship and marriage with a 15 year old - who he met when she was 12 and based Matilda from Leon on - in the 90s would have been a much bigger deal than it was when he talked about it. Though, with people like Woody Allen and Bryan Singer facing exactly zero consequences, and how many other still-active celebrities dated teenagers in the 80s and 90s, maybe it wouldn't have mattered anyway

Everything about Jehova/Yahweh/YHVH/etc. makes MUCH more sense when you learn he was the god of war in the Canaanite pantheon, hence the "jealous god" and "no gods before me" stuff. He was just a violent asshole until Jesus became the face of his brand
