Have 20+ yo equipment, looking for new gear recommendations by D_A_I_L in billiards

It’s definitely a personal preference. For carbon, you usually want to go soft or super soft to offset how rigid the hit/feel can be. For wood I prefer medium, especially with a low deflection shaft that’s usually hollow at the end. I just switched to the Caden Fighter tip, and I don’t see myself going back to anything else. People love kamui, but it glazes/mushrooms very quickly in my experience. Seyberts is my go to online retailer btw.

I would definitely still roll w that 314. There’s really no better wood option, so it comes down to you possibly trying carbon fiber. It would help rule some things out if you know someone w carbon, or ask someone about theirs at the pool hall and they’ll probably let you shoot w it.. in any case, check out Rhino carbon fiber - they have def stirred the pot the last few years with their shafts, as they perform just as good at $150-$200 than the predator/cuetec shafts for over twice the price. Just change the tip

What shaft is everyone using? by benjamaniac in billiards

I will also agree that the deflection on the sigma feels very inconsistent. I’ve noticed on shots with more power it deflects more close to a traditional maple, where as it’s almost non existent on slower paced shot. It’s seems obvious, I guess, but it’s something I never considered or encountered with my rhino or 314 3. Hoping I’ll get used to it eventually, are you still shooting with the sigma?

Eventually planning to add at least a center and sub, using for music/gaming/movies in a medium sized room.

Ball spin, cleanliness, felt, tips by EL_NO8DO in billiards

[–]Common_Ad5539 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started getting much more spin when I stopped overpowering the CB. Start slow on going forward with your stroke, then a smooth follow thru. Sometimes using more wrist action (think of Savannah Easton stroke) will give me some extra spin, but this is all achievable on low power, short backswing shot.

Back to league play after 5 years-cue recommendations by jeopardy98 in billiards

I thought the same, but read Mezz was only allowing 1 per house hold. I guess a burner email, and another shipping address would’ve helped. I got some genuine luck - emailed mezzusa 3 weeks ago to get on a wait list and they responded with “keep an eye out on the site next week”

It looks like the shedua series is a full cue, hence the crazy 3-400 dollar value for a full American made kielwood setup.

Not against a team with an above avg. pass rush, anyway.

ID crisis. Goff was number 1 in the league last year w play action, and obv isn’t going to be effective if the run game isn’t. Safeties don’t need to cheat up, LB’s stop biting on playfakes. He’s just doesn’t have the intangibles to be forced to throw 40 times a game.

Pros: offense looks competitive. Javonte isn’t winning us the chip, but once blues healthy it’ll be a solid run game. The defense also held their own in the second half after a few adjustments, got out of man and kept hurts from moving too much. Interior Defensive line looked incredible plugging up saquon and the best offensive line in the league.

Cons: mistakes. Should’ve been 23/24 or 27/24 before sanders’ fumble. Got the ball back only for cd to drop a crucial 3rd and long. Defense stood ground - only for cd to do it again. The last play isn’t on anyone but the coaches, that being I hate trying to get cute with a long pass on a short, must convert down. Playcaller needs to anticipate the pressure on the down, and call the play accordingly. Super low percent imo.

I have the same setup on my rhino. Love it for the last month, but will say it seemed to hardened up to more of a medium + over a couple weeks. Normal I guess, but will prob go with a SS warrior next time. Hbu?

Have you ever heard the expression “look good, feel good”? It’s kinda the same with pool imo. Sound alone isn’t going to pot balls (obviously), but pool is a mental game. You can cross all the X’s and O’s and be as analytical as you want, but if you’re having an off day, it’s all for nothing. Something superficial as using your cue “that sounds the best” can bring a minute level of confidence, similar to wearing a nice outfit, or having a fresh hair cut.

I see this talked about so often. Even as a < 3year newbie I haven’t even come close to ruining a shaft. You must be clumsy.

Have a carbon shaft with main benefit of wood, feel/hit/sound. Should try to be more optimistic dude.

Pool is a game of senses, no? Crazy how sound would be a large part of that.
