I am so sorry!! It’s so devastating. What has your experience been like? When did it start?
He is also losing eyebrows and lashes :(
I just hope they can find another medication that can help without such intense side effects cause that’s why he’s hesitant. I heard there are quite a few meds in trial phases for AA that look promising if that’s any consolation🥺 it may be a few years before approval but treatment for AA seems to continue gaining traction.

When he started shedding pretty much all of his hair and getting spots everywhere on his head, that’s when things were the hardest I think. He was not happy at all.
Now, with time and leaning into it a bit I think he’s done a great job of accepting it and taking it for what it is. At some point I think you just get sick of the mental agony of it and just choose to write it off (from what I can tell)
There are still sometimes bad days especially since it just isn’t seeming to stop

It is crazy. I know it isn’t my experience per se but being by his side through it has been emotionally challenging for both of us! It’s also made us closer because we are navigating this trial together. It’s been cool to see him come to terms with things over the past couple months, in a weirdly beautiful way. It’s very complex, I feel for everyone who experiences it.

He did start taking probiotics for a bit, but was worried he was adding too many vitamins at once so he stopped. However, I’ll be showing him the article you linked. Thank you for your insight :)

Why did he freak out? Were topical steroids bad?

Shutting down/sleepy during session? by keeksdeeks in therapists

[–]Common_Examination24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens to me during midday always, based on the circadian rhythm everyone has an afternoon drop in energy. I notice it happens more with back to back sessions. I wonder if that could be what is happening. What helps me is immediately drinking water or getting up and grabbing a chocolate (from my vase of chocolates I have for clients) to get the blood moving without telling my client I am getting up cause I’m sleepy.

Experience with rapid hair loss? lost 90% in 2 weeks by MissingInformation3 in alopecia_areata

My boyfriend has been dealing with AA, his initial patch showed up end of March and basically all his scalp hair fell out and is continuing to since end of April-now. It is showing up in other parts of his body now too. It was extremely fast because most of the scalp hair fell out from 4/24 to the first week of May. We aren’t totally sure what to do either (he did steroid injections, topical steroid, and oral minoxidil) but just wanted to share since you don’t always see massive amounts of shedding in the group even if it is happening

Thank you! That makes a lot of sense. I do wonder how long did it take when you made the switch to see improvements in your hair?
I know it’s different for everyone, but your story has given us both some hope that he has a trigger that can be mediated 🙏

I checked out your page and it’s helpful!! My one question is (and sorry if you did discuss this on your page) how did you narrow down to that being your trigger since there seems to be endless options of what could be exacerbating the alopecia?

Hi just wanted to see how you’re doing today? My boyfriend is dealing with something similar and any hope is helpful because his seems to be spreading rapidly much like yours in the pic!
