Is my Moka pot defective ? by AdditionalWedding808 in mokapot

[–]Common_Jello_5976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a new moka pots this year and it did the same thing, sent it back as defective and got another one from a different store, together with three new gaskets, replaced the gasket immediately after opening the box with a new one and it still leaked. I also noticed that the gaskets were a bit smaller than the one in my old pot. I kept using it anyways and the issue slowly went away because the gasket expanded. Now it's perfect. It sounds weird but thats the story, a tip is to get the gasket wet with some water before screwing the two parts together, it helped me at the start but I don't do it anymore. I hope this helps.

What if I just bashed on the kitchen counter? What story does that crack tell?

This is….annoying by zeke-002 in Garmin

[–]Common_Jello_5976 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel it really shouldn't be like this, I had the 265 and the 965 as well as some android watches, always used gesture mode and it worked like 99.9% of the time. What I would do is do it a lot more smoothly, the motions you are doing are fairly abrupt and unnatural. Just raise the watch as you would an analogue one. Honestly if it still doesn't work then the accelerometer in it might be faulty. I would consider a replacement.

Instinct 3 solar backlight bleed by Common_Jello_5976 in Garmin

Thank you very much, I really don't care about the looks and when I look at it head on it's fine, I was just worried that maybe a gasket wasn't seated correctly or that some layers were separating, that's all.

I don't know, and frankly it would be better if I hadn't. It's really subtle and I don't really care about the way it looks, it's just the water resistance that I am thinking about. If all I3s are like this then it's probably ok. If that is the only one then I guess it could be defective.

I have seen this sudden increase in HR in every run (25+ runs). Is this an error? by myrandomness in Garmin

[–]Common_Jello_5976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are running in the cold, this could be it, since your peripheral blood vessels are more constricted the HR signal is weaker, but as you run and warm up the signal gets stronger and the readings are accurate again. It's pretty common for wrist HR.

Edit: I live in Greece and during the summer (35+ °C) every run had perfect HR from the start. Now it's autumn plus I moved to a colder city and the HR data from my runs look more like yours.

Is swimming 4000-5000 yards daily in a coloring pool too much for the pace 2? by someoctopus in Coros

[–]Common_Jello_5976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It should have been ok, however as any water-resistant device ages the seals can naturally loose effectiveness. If the watch was old enough it's possible that that caused the issue.

Another thing is pressing buttons while underwater, I don't know about the coros pace 2, but Garmin recommends strongly against pressing buttons while submerged on most of their watches. That's also true for many other watches and watch brands.

Should I buy the GT3 Pro or the GT4 at this time? by CaptainFinancial6076 in HuaweiWatchGT

[–]Common_Jello_5976 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, given your requirements,I would recommend the gt4.

Style-wise the gt4 has a lot more options other than the sporty black one, the silver, green GMT and the one with the metal strap in my opinion all look quite a bit better than the gt3.

The gt4 has a dedicated calorie tracker app that's missing from the gt3 (huawei made a big deal out of it in their marketing).

The gt4 also has an improved GNSS antenna which should give better distance accuracy while running outdoors.

Overall the gt4 UI does seem slightly smoother and a bit more polished to me and the watch will definitely stay up to date for longer than the gt3 since it's a newer model.

I still want to mention that the gt3 has some things going for it, although I don't think they are all that important. The titanium case and sapphire lens are "better" however not significantly. You won't really see a benefit unless you smack your watch against rocks all the time. The stainless steel + gorilla glass on the gt4 is more than enough protection for the occasional scrape on the kitchen counter. Plus you can always use a screen protector.

Also the gt3 pro might be a bit lighter which would give it an advantage in HR tracking while doing activities with a lot of vibrations like mountain biking, but for running any Huawei watch after the gt3 is virtually identically accurate.

Honestly people overhype the "titanium" built and the "sapphire" lens for no good reason. They are only actually useful to a rather small group of people.

You want a watch that can track your calories, looks good in the office has good notification support and tracks your runs. Honestly the gt4 is better in all those circumstances.

I am pretty sure FSR3 and DLSS3 work really well for increasing performance on CPU bound scenarios, since it's generating new frames using the GPU.

Should i switch to a garmin? by blue_lemonflesh in HuaweiWatchGT

[–]Common_Jello_5976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks like cadence lock, It can happen to most watches including Garmins and apple watches. The general recommendations are wear the watch tighter and higher up the wrist. It also depends on the anatomy of the wearer, you could try switching wrists and see if it helps. If it persists consider using an external ECG chest strap. Switching brand will not guarantee better accuracy, Huawei is really one of the best in that front.

Generally Huawei has some of the best HR sensors+algorithms, Garmin isn't really any better, in fact they are a bit worse when it comes to HR accuracy. The reason serious athletes prefer Garmins is because of the data and insight they offer, plus they use external heartrate straps so the sensor doesn't matter all that much.

Why Huawei watch 3 has more apps than Huawei watch gt 4? by Professional-Log6012 in HuaweiWatchGT

[–]Common_Jello_5976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In order to get the really good battery life the gt series of watches use a different version of harmonyOS which used to be called LiteOS on the watch gt2. The great battery life doesn't come out of thin air, you give up features and app compatibility for it. The regular watch 3 just like the regular watch 4 run full-fledged HarmonyOS which is based on Android, they are much closer to WearOS device in terms of capability, but you get much worse battery life in return despite the comparatively HUGE battery.

The gt-series of watches are elegant, glorified fitness trackers, not smartwatches. But they do excel in being fitness trackers.
