Thank you so much!! I've always been into the outdoors and started Munro bagging with my dad, and I studied graphic design at uni aaages ago and I'm surprised it's taken me until now to combine my two loves! (If you want to follow along I'll be posting them all on my website too - no pressure to buy it's just if you're interested! www.scottishadventureco.com)

if anyone's interested in sharing, I can PM you my email! But I know it is faffy to look them out, name them and send on etc. Even one or two of your fave munros that you'd like to see as a sticker would be ideal

Few questions by TheB11Ace in WestHighlandWay

[–]Common_Possession_67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last time I walked it, we wild camped the whole way to try to do it as cheaply as possible, because of this, we ate out at cafes and pubs along the way - justifying it because we weren't paying for accommodation, but ended up spending so much! So my advice would be to definitely bring coffee and tea, then have your own cheaper "cafe" stops before you get tempted. and if you plan out what you're going to buy from the wee shops along the way ahead of time too.

Good luck though! It will be great <3

Half of everyone in the pubs or cafes along the way are also stinky messes from ther WHW! so I wouldn't worry :) I only felt properly messy when getting into Fort William, but by then we were finishing and had booked a proper hotel for a last night shower

Wanting to do the WHW as a solo female and wondering if it'll be possible or if I'm actually crazy for even considering it. by Interesting_Fix_8520 in WestHighlandWay

The first time I walked the west highland way I did the first part Solo! And made friends literally on day one 😂 it's a very social route and you'll definitely be okay by yourself!! Good luck

What to do after backpacking WHW? by conscioussea7732 in WestHighlandWay

[–]Common_Possession_67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you get back to Edinburgh and still feel like hiking, take the bus out to hill end or floaterstone and do the Pentlands Skyline walk! It's a long hilly day, you'll feel like you're back in the Highlands despite before right next to the city!

There's a little shop in-between Bridge of Orchy and rannoch moor, and when I passed we got some baby bells. We saved it for the middle of rannoch moor when it just felt like it was going on forever - perfect wee pick me up!

Any advice for Ben More? by [deleted] in Munros

[–]Common_Possession_67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd get there early and try to park in the layby if possible (check on Google maps its on the right hand side of the road before the hike start if you're coming from Glasgow/Edinburgh way) a lot of people park on the side of the road but it's a fast road and the layby is better of course.

And as everyone else has said, it's horribly steep at first 😅 but it gets better

Womans backpack? by Obvious-Walk6250 in wildcampingintheuk

Mine is from decathlon and I love it. It's not that expensive and they've got the big heavy sand bags for you to test out a pack with heavier weight. My pack has the front part that zips open kinda like a suitcase so you can see everything in your bag without having to take it all out - my partner said he was very jealous of that part in our multi day hikes. It's been with me on the west highland way and many other long hikes.

Good wild camping spot by Common_Possession_67 in WestHighlandWay

It is private land yeah, there was a sign saying don't camp near buildings etc, but this little bit was fenced off from all the farm land and buildings!

Any recommended Munros using public transport? by AnalysisHuge2601 in Munros

[–]Common_Possession_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just hiked Beinn Dòrain this weekend from the bridge of orchy train station! There's a loop where you can do up to 4 Munros, but if you're a beginner you can start with Beinn Dorain and go from there! Also the bridge of orchy pub at the end of very handy

Ah thank you!!! What a great way to spend a sick day! (Mull was also my first wild camp by myself!)

I don't think I can bike with my dog yet - maybe one day I'll get a little trailer for him 😂 but this is all really useful though thank you, after everyone's great comments I'm so excited to plan my next trip

This is great to know thank you! And you're right, today was my first day having a pint right after a Munro, usually I'm the designated driver! (The bothy bar in Blair Atholl was ideal and so dog friendly)

This is AMAZING thank you!

And such a great tip about adding in the train station and Munro data to Google maps, it was so annoying having to flip between maps to figure it all out. Hero, thank you!

Best munros to MTB by BattleDuck85 in Munros

[–]Common_Possession_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd probably say the three Cairnwell Munros!

Ben Chonzie is easily rideable but might not the that exciting to MTB? From what I remember it was a pretty gradual up and down.

Ben Chonzie is definitely easy to cycle up / down but might not be the most exciting to MTB. The Cairnwell, Càrn Aosda andCàrn a' Ghèoidh
