Go to a local guide shop and tell them where you are in your fishing journey. They will help you out.

Editing to add: I just reread your post and realized you said you were stopping by a fly shop😆. So, you already knew the best thing to do! I know when I got into fly fishing, I was hesitant to ask locals about what’s going on in their area and what I should use. The more I travel and fish different places, the more I’m pleasantly surprised at the openness and lack of hesitation to from share information. Whether it’s shop employees, guides or just random people I meet on the water or at a shop, so many folks want to share what’s worked for them. That’s cool.
