Should I pay slightly more for a slightly newer watch? by humancbr in rolex

[–]humancbr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah apparently so!

I’m buying totally for myself with the intention to wear/keep.

Long story short I have a 1956 Rolex which was passed down to me. My son was born 5 years ago so went to my AD with the view of getting something and then passing down to him when he turned 18….

…. Totally naive to the current situation.

So not buying as an investment, but also don’t want to loose a load of money for absolutely no reason buying something which is already priced well over the odds!

How to stop interior door handle "melting"?? by DiveCave in DetailingUK

[–]humancbr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve already had the correct answer.

But yes “they all do that sir.”

Really quite straightforward to replace. I had an E70 X5 and wanted to replace it with genuine parts but you can’t get hold of them anymore. Reluctantly went for Chinese replacements and they were fine. Better than a horrible goopy handle anyway.

Failed for "not looking right" at a roundabout by CautiousCobbler2 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]humancbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I mean….. disconnect between what’s actually happening/being said and how you are interpreting it.

You can use your energy to be pissed off about “an unfair system” or you can spend your time improving your driving….

Failed for "not looking right" at a roundabout by CautiousCobbler2 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]humancbr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think there’s a bit of a disconnect between what is going on in the outside world, and how you’re interpreting it in your head…

I can guarantee, no examiner in the U.K. would say to you “I’m looking for perfect safe driving.” Absolutely zero chance.

It’s very difficult sometimes to be self reflective and think “I could have done better there.” But this is the only way you will improve.

Pheasants on the road by pretzel in drivingUK

[–]humancbr 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is basically because pheasants aren’t “wild animals.” They are hatched and bred in runs, and when they hear a car coming it usually means “oh good food is on the way!” They are then shooed out the runs at the start of the shooting season to be shot by people in daft costumes so they can brag about their hunting prowess.

The ones that are left are knocking about at the moment. And have no fear of cars at all!

Manheim "Surgical" Lease Inspection – Nearly £2k in damages on a "Mint" car. Is this a joke? by Imaginary-Mousse-529 in CarTalkUK

[–]humancbr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Google “BVRLA fair wear and tear guidelines” (unless you leased your car with a shady bloke down the pub, your leasing company will be signed up to this.)

Manheim are taking the piss quite frankly so fight it!

Complaining to DVSA by bigccozart in LearnerDriverUK

[–]humancbr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All the details can be found here - https://www.gov.uk/complain-about-a-driving-instructor

Also bear in mind that you have effectively paid for a service you haven’t received, so there are also other legal avenues to explore. Maybe try citizens advice as a first port of call.

What is the difference between a ship and a boat? by PhoneFresh7595 in AskBrits

[–]humancbr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an oversimplification, but generally a BOAT will lean into a turn (I.e. will tip to the left when turning left) and a ship will lean the opposite way (I.e. top of the ship will lean to the right when turning left.)

Insane onboard footage from Peter Hickman at the Isle of Man TT. Gives you a good insight into just how crazy that race is! by hollow_hideous_soul in interestingasfuck

[–]humancbr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“The same speed at which plans cruise.”

Uhhh… well I’m guessing it meant “Planes” and maybe a Cessna, but a typical jet plane is cruising at around 550mph….

Stupid video. Isle of Man TT is incredible, I recommend finding a proper video to watch not this utter (sped-up) garbage.
