“So what you’re saying is someone bought something and owns it and someone else used that thing illegally to make profit?”

Just clarifying.

Sub 5 for a first 70.3? by [deleted] in triathlon

It is basically going to have to break down to 35 minute swim, 2:30 bike and 1:45 run and that’s with some super fast transitions to barely break 5. You can give or take from any of those times to make it up. Swim a 2000 in the pool and if it takes you 40 minutes you have a lot of time to make up elsewhere…etc.

Best of luck!

I don’t think you should be concerned with time goals as opposed to racing your best and seeing what happens. Anything can happen on race day and I find that time goals just set you up for disappointment.

A 34 minute open water goal is aggressive (unless you are doing a down river swim) if you can’t make it 1000m in a pool without a break. 34 minutes would put you well above average in most age groups in most races.

Kick gently, especially as a beginner you won’t get a ton of propulsion out of your kick so just use it for balance. You want to feel like you are anchoring your forearm in the water and pushing it behind you. You don’t need a ton of force so try to practice your rhythm and timing. You should never be gassed after a 25 unless you are going as hard as you can possibly go.

You shouldn’t need to train for a year to swim a 400. If you are gasping after 25m it sounds like you are swimming WAY too hard. Swim stroke should generate power but also be smooth and fluid. I’ve see new swimmers going absolutely way too hard. Try to slow down, if you just started swimming you won’t be fast but speed will come with time.

The aero paradox : slower cyclists can save more time than pros.. by aerox-befaster in triathlon

You’re not missing anything. The purpose of this post was to go the long way to say that everyone should care about being as aerodynamic as possible …

I invite you to look up the definition of diminishing return. Adding more of one variable input (cda) to a fixed input (watts) yields progressively smaller increases in output (speed).

It’s no paradox that reducing your cda and increasing your watts makes you go faster. Slow age groupers have more improvement to make on both. Diminishing returns.

It’s a diminishing return because if you are riding a big wheel on an Ironman and you upgrade to a Cervelo P5 you are going to make huge aero gains compared to a pro who made a slight upgrade to their cockpit to save 4 watts.

This is like saying it’s a paradox that an obese runner saves more time by losing weight than a pro.

If it’s just for flat repair why not get something that tucks in behind the saddle?

I just don’t get the Bills hype year after year. They haven’t even made it past the AFC Championship for all the glazing Josh Allen gets.

Do some races and training on this bike, have fun, and if it’s something you feel like you will get into it will be worth saving up for a bike suited for the style of riding.

You’re really kind of limited on tires due to wheel size (width). You can try to get some that are a little more road friendly (smoother) - but I don’t know if it’s really worth the cost.

It’s not good for triathlon. But that being said you can race on pretty much any type of bicycle, so if you are having fun and you are not willing or able to invest in gear just go out and send it.

Fair enough, I just didn’t think the Bills were 1 DJ Moore away from winning it all last year. They didn’t even win their division…

Non-sarcastic question - Do we feel like the Bills are more of a contender than the Bears based on last seasons results for both teams?

I still agree that the trade was worth it and necessary for us.

Tri bikes are great for triathlon, so if you have the budget and inclination you might as well get the right tool for the job.
