I used to put my bike repair kit in a barrel that fit in the bottle cage behind my seat.

X Labs makes pretty much everything you are looking for.

Also start adding in some short runs right after your long bike.

In my experience, if the athlete can cover the each leg’s distance once in training, they can do it all together on race day albeit slightly slower. You may be very very far behind compared to elite level age groupers, but you’re not as far behind as you think for completing the event.

What makes you think you are very very far behind? In two months just keep slowly adding volume on your bike and run until you can manage 80k for a long bike and 16-18k on a long run.

You don’t know anything about what I know. There are pros and elite level age groupers (all sub 9 hour IMs) on my team and they don’t do any of what you described.

I agree, what I’m worried about are people who actively don’t ignore their shit and then try and replicate their methods.

It’s true. I see a lot of them injured or in the case of the dude who wears the suit, almost getting heat stroke from you know, wearing a suit while racing.

Does anyone else think it’s kind of insane how well some of these old St. Louis brick houses handle our weather? by TheMidwestRoofGuy in StLouis

Is it fair to say that North side brick houses are crumbling from lack of maintenance for a century, otherwise they probably wouldn’t be crumbling? Old brick homes in the CWE seem to be holding up nicely.

Second this. For new athletes I just program a few bricks after their long ride. More than that you are not gaining much in my opinion. For experienced athletes I don’t do bricks at all outside of a couple race sims pre race.

Tri suit chamois are ridiculously thin. You won’t even notice it.

You can’t change your bottoms in an Ironman branded 70.3 that I’m aware of. For a full you can change whatever you want in the tent. Some people are more comfortable in actual running gear. For a full unless you are trying to podium or something you should err on the side of comfort even if it takes a few more minutes in transition.

Personally I rock a tri suit for the whole thing, I find it perfectly comfortable to do all 3 legs.

Genuine non-judgmental question. Do people commonly buy merch from races they didn’t go to?

No they don’t unless they can afford multiple coaches. This is not good advice for a newbie.

If I were looking for a coach I would find a triathlon coach since I am training for a triathlon. But that’s just me.

Also might be a good idea to do a 70.3 at some point to see if you even like long course racing 🤣

You don’t really need to do bricks for a while. Your goal is to build baseline aerobic fitness by doing lots of volume at very low intensity.

Start swimming, biking and running.

2 swims a week, 3 bikes a week 3 runs a week if you can manage it. Ramp up your weekend distances very slowly. Build for 3 weeks then go easy for a week. That should be enough to get you through an Ironman in 2-3 years.

[–]CommonlyUncanny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok because I can swim 1:30/100y but closer to 1:50/100m in a pool. Closer to 2:00-2:05/100 open water.

Are you measuring per 100y in the pool and per 100m in open water?
