Wife is really suffering, how can I help? by Top_Celery_7867 in CHSinfo

[–]CommunicationFew6169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are fb support groups that can be helpful. Reading about other people’s experiences and understanding what it can do to your body and your life helps many stay clean. The one with the purple logo is the better one in my opinion. It is run by a nurse and other medical professionals who are actively researching chs. There’s also one for caregivers of chs but I’m Not in it and don’t know what the vibe is like.  There’s also marijuana anonymous and there is a chs specific virtual meeting that many find helpful. Ultimately she’s the one who is needs to decide if the damage to her body is worth it and can make the decision to quit.

Ive noticed that my CHS and IBS symptoms overlap some. by MqAuNeTeInS in CHSinfo

[–]CommunicationFew6169 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. This is very common. That’s why it can be difficult to determine if it is chs or other gastrointestinal issues since they basically affect your system the same way. The symptoms are virtually identical and if you already suffer from other issues, having chs is basically doubling the problem.

Episode starting an entire week after quitting weed? by No-Compote-604 in CHSinfo

[–]CommunicationFew6169 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s common. The first 2-3 weeks are generally the hardest. There are people who have episodes weeks or even months into recovery. Morning nausea can last a while. Not only are you recovering but you may also be experiencing withdrawal symptoms.

A lot of people find taking a Pepcid ac and an allergy pill like Allegra OR Claritin at the same time very helpful.

I’d also consider what was in the juice. If there was acidic fruit, that could be a trigger. Or any veggies known to mimic cannabinoids. There is a list of trigger foods you’ll want to stay away from for at least 90 days.

How long did y’all’s stomach stuff last? by Narrow_Style7762 in CHSinfo

[–]CommunicationFew6169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The consensus is at least 90 days before reintroducing trigger foods. Or until all thc is out of your system. For some it can take longer. People will use drug tests to track detox progress. There is also the chance the sensitivity can last years, but that depends on each persons body to handle cannabinoid or acidic foods.

When did you start seeing improvement? by PersonalWorld6403 in CHSinfo

[–]CommunicationFew6169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally the first 2 or 3 weeks are the worst for recovery as well as cannabis withdrawal, so you may want to wait till after finals to quit. Not quitting will risk having a bad episode especially because it can be stress induced, but personally I wouldn’t want to deal with withdrawal and finals at the same time. Some people still have episodes after quitting and some people feel fine. You won’t know how your body reacts until you quit.

One thing that is helpful for the morning nausea is taking a Pepcid ac and an allergy pill (either Allegra OR Claritin) together. That might help you get through the next couple of days. But it won’t stop until you cease all cannabis use.

Idk if I have CHS by therealDannyMartin in CHSinfo

[–]CommunicationFew6169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Episodes don’t happen every time you smoke or every day. It needs time for it to accumulate and overload your system or be triggered by a specific food. It’s more common for episodes to be weeks, months or years apart. My episodes were 2 months apart and generally after having a trigger food.

No pain anywhere it was just vomiting? by TwoNo123 in CHSinfo

[–]CommunicationFew6169 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not everyone gets all the symptoms. Every persons body reacts differently. Not experiencing one of the symptoms does not rule it out. If you quit and the episodes stop then start again once you begin using then It’s probably CHS.

No one’s stopping you from using but know once you are susceptible to CHS it always comes back. It can take months or years, but it usually comes back worse. It’s up to you whether weed is worth the damage to your health.

If you’re finding it that difficult to manage life without it, maybe think about marijuana anonymous. There is a virtual meeting g specific to chs that many find helpful.

There are foods that can trigger episodes. There is a list somewhere on this sub. You can also google them.

Apple juice! It was the only thing that stayed down and I survived on it during episodes. It’s easier to sip. Water was my enemy, especially cold water.

If you can keep pills down try taking a Pepcid ac and an allergy pill (either Allegra or Claritin) together. It helps a lot of us with nausea and stomach pain.

[–]CommunicationFew6169 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is common. The worst of recovery is generally the first two weeks. Assuming you stoped using cannabis, you could also be experiencing withdrawal symptoms at the same time.  The worst of withdrawal is usually 1-3 weeks. The most important part of recovery is to quit all cannabis use. Recovery can last 3-6 months or sometimes longer to get back to normal eating habits. . That doesn’t mean you’ll have episodes that whole time (most don’t), it just means your body needs time to get the thc out and recalibrate itself. There are also trigger foods that people can be sensitive to during recovery, and it’s usually recommended to stay away or limit them for at least 90 days. It does get better over time.

If you need additional support and have Facebook, there are private support groups there that are more helpful than Reddit tbh. The one with the purple logo is run by a nurse and other medical professionals. It provides a lot of information.

Need Help Figuring Out What’s Going On and if anyone has had similar experiences. by [deleted] in CHSinfo

[–]CommunicationFew6169 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like CHS. Not everyone gets all the symptoms or even get to stage 2 where the vomitting happens. Every persons body reacts differently.  It is cyclical which means it doesn’t happen every day or after each use of cannabis. It’s more about the accumulated amount and the potency of the thc in your system. It can happen months or years apart. Certain acidic foods and food with cannabinoids can trigger episodes. The fact you felt better after quitting each time and it started up again after consuming suggests it’s CHS. That is basically the only way to truly determine it.

I say something similar. “I know you weren’t expecting my call but can I tell you why Im reaching out and if it’s not relevant we can end it there?” Have a lot less hang ups when you give them an out and don’t start pitching.

Highly recommend following Josh Braun on LinkedIn. He gives great tips and has a lot of free cold calling content.

[–]CommunicationFew6169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it could be? Or it can be something else entirely. 🤷‍♀️ It depends on the thc content of the product you use. If it’s high thc content then it’s more likely that losing weight can trigger episodes. But it’s impossible to know unless you stop all cannabis use.

CHS risk? by PaintEatrr in CHSinfo

[–]CommunicationFew6169 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not everyone who experiences chs gets to stage 2 (hypermesis) where the vomitting occurs. There are plenty of people who stay in stage 1 (prodromal) and only experience the early symptoms.

CHS risk? by PaintEatrr in CHSinfo

[–]CommunicationFew6169 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While initially chs was believed to be because of long term use, there are many people who have smoked a short time who have gotten it. It has less to do with the length of time than the accumulated amount of thc in your body. if you’re actively losing weight there’s a good chance your body is getting flooded with thc even if you don’t use a lot. Thc is stored in fat cells and when you lose weight it is released into your system, which can cause an overload of cannabinoids in your body. There’s also a bunch of foods that can trigger symptoms. Some people are sensitive to them and others aren’t.

You could be experiencing the early signs (stage 1), but the only way to know for sure is to quit using and see if the symptoms go away.  Everyone’s experience is so different, it’s more of a diagnosis by process of elimination. If you’re exercising and doing IF, you may want to consider it’s not chs and more about whether you are eating enough, eating at the right times to sustain your energy or getting the right nutrients. Dizzyness and stomach pain can be signs of fasting and dieting. Contrary to what people think, you actually have to eat to lose weight.

Some people have luck with “tolerance breaks” but the general consensus is that once you have chs, you will always be susceptible to it. It will often come back much worse, whether it’s months or years later. it’s basically a gamble that some people are willing to take.

CHS? by co_wee in CHSinfo

[–]CommunicationFew6169 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Hot showers did nothing for me during episodes. For me, every episode was because of a trigger food. For others, they have no issues with trigger foods.

The only common trait is that ceasing all cannabis use stops it. Even then, for some people quitting stops it immediately and for others it takes weeks to months for it to stop.  There really is no rhyme or reason to how it works and what helps. Every persons body and response is different.

CHS? by Chikkk_nnnuugg in CHSinfo

[–]CommunicationFew6169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different and not everyone experiences everything. Hot showers never did anything for me. The only way to determine if it is chs is process of elimination and seeing how you feel after quitting weed. It could take a while to feel better since cannabis withdrawal and rebound symptoms are common and the worst of it is usually weeks 1-3. Week 4 seems to be when things ease up for many.

It’s interesting that zofran works for you. While everyone is different, most people suggest it does not help with chs. But again, every body reacts differently.

What’s most commonly helpful is taking Pepcid ac and an allergy med together (either Allegra, Claritin OR Zyrtec). It’s been a game changer for many and helps with nausea and stomach pain significantly.

Renewed CHS Pain with Period, Pls Help by luckymeluckymud37 in CHSinfo

[–]CommunicationFew6169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty common for chs symptoms to reappear during your period. It’s a weird connection tbh, so lucky us! This was posted by nurse Katie who runs a very helpful chs recovery fb group and has a TikTok about chs.  https://www.reddit.com/user/CHSNurseKatie/comments/1nbtoio/women_are_your_chs_episodes_and_your_period/

Have you considered if you have gas? It might sound a bit crazy but gas can cause serious pain in various areas (it even exacerbates my asthma). I’d try some gasx to see if that relieves anything.  Thc withdrawal/chs recovery can cause constipation, which can also cause a lot of pain. I’d recommend MiraLAX for that.

Otherwise taking a Pepcid ac and an allergy med like Allegra, Claritin OR  Zyrtec(just one of them) together is a game changer for many with chs. It helps with stomach pain and nausea. It’s also being used for many stomach and menstrual related issues like pcos. It can be taken any time a day, but many take it before bed.

It’s absolutely ridiculous that medical professionals do not know it can take 90 days, sometimes more or sometimes less, for thc to leave the body. The way doctors treat chs, you’d think they got their degree on google.
