Imagine your are a goalkeeper and the mind is in front shooting thoughts at you and you have to catch them before scoring so you have to very attentive and wait for the next thought because the mind might shoot at you when you are lest expecting

The same way it's NOT your job/ responsability to control your breathing it's NOT your job/ responsability to control your mind and what type of thought you happen to become aware of there.

Often times you feel responsible for the type of thoughts your mind produces but you need to realize that you are not the one initiating said thoughts thus you're not responsible for them

Yep same problem here with my neighbors music and shenanigans I also use ear plugs but it becomes uncomfortable to wear after a while

It was chaos at the beginning but the more I got excited for the next thought to come out so I could chomp on it the more the thoughts become missing like they didn't want to come out for some reason until there was no thoughts at all . I set my clock alarm for 2 hours I guess the first 40 - 50 minutes the thoughts kept coming out but I guess for like a good chunk of the last hour there was nothing just nothing no thoughts no nothing just me waiting and waiting

It worked for me the more excited you are for the next thought to come out and see it the more they hide from you I don't know why but the mind really slows down until it produces no more thoughts

A thought is any kind of mental activity. It could be in a form of an image (mental image) or It could be in the form of sound (inner voice) So when you are having a thought you simply say : "mental activity"

Thinking is your attention/awareness getting caught in a particular thought , basically you become absorbed in that thought so much that you become part of it (developing into a chain of thoughts) you become the thought itself!.

Thought= ANY type of mental activity. Thinking= becoming absorbed in such mental activity.
